Picture: Metropolitan Police/PA Wire Disgraced ex-BBC News presenter Huw Edwards has lost a privacy and accuracy complaint against the Daily Mail. Edwards, who admitted having indecent images of children in 2024 and served a six-month suspended sentence, called UK press regulation a “travesty” in his response on Substack. The article reported on claims from sources in his local area that he had “formed a close bond with” a woman who he had been “leaning on for ’emotional support’” and been seen with publicly. It reported: “She is said to have been counselling Edwards.” The article also included details of the village where Edwards lived and who he lived with. Edwards accused the Daily Mail of breaching his privacy in publishing information about his friendship and his living arrangements without it being in the public interest. How Many Daily Steps Do You Need to Lose Weight?

How Many Daily Steps Do You Need to Lose Weight?

WEDNESDAY, Oct. 14, 2026 (HealthDay News) — Staying active is key to staying healthy, and fitness trackers and smartwatches have become popular tools for tracking activity. But just how many steps does someone need to take each day to lose weight? Experts say there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. The number 10,000 is repeated often, but research shows anywhere from 4,000 to 10,000 steps per day can still provide health benefits. Focus On Minutes Rather Than Steps While evidence is limited on exactly how many steps a day it takes to lose weight, experts say to get about 150 to 300 minutes of moderate- to vigorous-intensity exercise weekly, said Amanda Paluch, an assistant professor in the department of kinesiology and Institute for Applied Life Sciences at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. That’s about 22 minutes per day at the low end, and 45 minutes at the high end, Paluch said. “And we do know that for weight loss and weight maintenance, you really need to get to that higher end,” Paluch said. “We do need to exercise …

9 Daily Frustrations For Creative And Curious People Stuck In Rigid Corporate Jobs

While you’d think most bosses and companies would want to invest in people’s creativity to bring fresh perspectives to their problems, rigid corporate environments often drain people before they have a chance to do so.  Stress can make it harder for people to think creatively, especially when they’re working in a rigid corporate environment. Creative people stuck in rigid corporate jobs usually experience these frustrations every workday, and they build up to the point where they completely dull their curiosity in the workplace. People who are naturally creative and curious experience these 11 frustrations at a corporate job: 1. Having to follow rules that don’t make any sense Zamrznuti tonovi | Shutterstock.com Intelligent and curious people tend to get easily frustrated by rules and instructions that don’t make sense or feel wildly ineffective. Creative people may feel especially frustrated when they’re forced to follow rigid workplace rules that leave little room for flexibility, even when those rules make their jobs harder. While rigid instructions might make sense for a job that pushes conformity and sameness, …

I put all my daily feeds and server stats on one page, and now I barely open anything else

I have a bad habit of opening the same cluster of sites before I’ve even worked out what I came to the browser for. News feeds, GitHub, YouTube, weather, system information, then whatever side road happens to catch my eye. By the time I’m ready to do anything useful, the tab bar already looks like a small administrative failure. Glance gave me a much better place to start. It’s a self-hosted dashboard that pulls those routine checks onto one page and lets you decide what actually gets permanent screen space. I replaced most of the sample widgets with ones that matched how I use my PC, and before long, a good chunk of my usual tab-hopping was compressed into one page I could glance at and move on. Related I deleted my to-do list app and started using this browser feature instead The best to-do list is right in your browser. Glance expects you to get your hands dirty YAML is the price of admission Glance recommends Docker Compose, although it also offers precompiled binaries …

What is Daily Red? How to play the daily Pokémon battle game for free

What is Daily Red? How to play the daily Pokémon battle game for free

TL;DR: Daily Red is a free, daily Pokémon battle game where everyone gets one chance a day to defeat Red on Mt. Silver. Red’s team stays the same, but your lineup is randomly generated every 24 hours — forcing you to win with whatever random squad you’re dealt. If your morning browser routine already includes Wordle or the Mini Crossword, there is a new fan-made puzzle game making the rounds among Pokémon fans. Daily Red takes the ultimate end-game boss fight from the top of Mt. Silver and turns it into a daily tactical challenge. Instead of spending weeks raising your personal dream team, the game drops you straight into a Level 100 showdown against Red. The catch? You do not get to pick your party. Every 24 hours, every player worldwide is handed the exact same randomly generated lineup of six Pokémon. Your job is to figure out how to pilot whatever unusual, bench-warming team you’ve been dealt to victory. Is Daily Red an official Pokémon game? No. Daily Red is an unofficial, free-to-play …
