Sarah Ferguson suffers another blow as she continues to hide away

Sarah Ferguson suffers another blow as she continues to hide away

Very little has been seen of Sarah Ferguson this year.  The former-Duchess of York has  been keeping a low profile since losing her titles alongside her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, after they became mired in the Epstein scandal. Sarah, 66, has only been spotted on a handful of occasions at locations across Europe although – according to reports – she is due to move into a rented £10,000-a-month gated property in the Home Counties imminently.  But she is likely to continue to stay off grid. Sarah’s absence from the spotlight has done little to quell the public’s opinion – and now she appears to have suffered another blow as a result of her connection to Epstein. A plaque commemorating Sarah’s association with Great Ormond Street Hospital has mysteriously disappeared, prompting speculation that the disgraced ex Duchess has been dropped by another charity. The grey slate plaque featured gold lettering and was fixed to the wall of a special hostel for the parents of sick children at Great Ormond Street. It commemorated the fact that Sarah – …

Jesse Jackson’s son Yusef Jackson marks late father’s birthday, continues civil rights legacy

Get RNS’ thoughtful, essential religion reporting every morning. Sign up for free! (RNS) — Yusef Jackson, the youngest son of the late Rev. Jesse Jackson, is making appearances at the kinds of events where his father was often a prominent figure. In recent months, the current leader of the Rainbow Push Coalition, which the elder Jackson founded, has appeared at the March on Washington anniversary event in August and meetings of historically Black denominations. On Thursday (Oct. 8), he’ll be marking his father’s birthday for the first time since Jesse Jackson’s death at age 84 in February; the veteran civil rights leader suffered from a rare neurodegenerative condition. Rainbow Push plans to launch a digital archive of remembrances of the Baptist minister and two-time presidential candidate this week. The Chicago-based coalition continues to focus on human rights and economic empowerment. Yusef Jackson said he seeks to maintain a balance between maintaining his father’s legacy and continuing its “critical connection” between labor, faith and civil rights groups as the midterm elections approach. But he’s also bringing …

Rivian continues to ramp with R2 even as EV market growth slows

Rivian continues to ramp with R2 even as EV market growth slows

Rivian posted its third-quarter production and delivery numbers this morning and, with the R2, remains on track to meet its annual targets despite some headwinds across the US electric vehicle sector. Rivian’s 2026 production and delivery output has accelerated steadily through the year as it now ramps up R2 production: Q1 2026: Produced 10,236 vehicles and delivered 10,365. Q2 2026: Produced 12,613 vehicles and delivered 12,194, outperforming initial quarterly expectations. R2 is part of this acceleration Q3 2026: Produced 19,751 vehicles and delivered 19,248. Taken in a vacuum, the numbers are impressive: 58%: Quarter-over-quarter surge in vehicle deliveries from Q2 to Q3, likely helped by R2 ramp. 41,807: Total vehicles delivered through the first three quarters of 2026. 65,000 – 70,000: Reaffirmed full-year delivery guidance range, requiring roughly 23,000 to 28,000 deliveries in Q4 to hit targets. That seems likely given Rivian’s ramp and the introduction of the Premium version in “late 2026” Obviously, the lower-cost R2 is likely responsible for much, if not all, of this growth, even though Rivian is selling only the …

DOE continues strategic reserve release with 40m barrels of crude oil

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for an exchange of up to 40 million barrels of crude oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) This is the latest of the 172 million barrel release previously announced by Trump in co-ordination with the International Energy Agency (IEA) member nations’ overall 400-million-barrel commitment. “With today’s actions, the United States continues to lead the coordinated efforts to stabilize oil markets for the benefit of Americans and people around the world,” U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright said. “While the United States and Japan are delivering on their commitments, several European member countries have released only a fraction of the crude oil and petroleum products they pledged. We urge every member country to fulfill its commitments. Thanks to President Trump, these exchanges will also ensure America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve continues to be refilled, while saving taxpayers more than $3 billion.” DOE has advanced a series of large-scale SPR exchange solicitations. These actions have moved critical crude oil supplies into the market to address short term …

'Aggressively Unfunny' Or 'Terrific Fun'? Tom Cruise's Digger Continues To Divide Critics

'Aggressively Unfunny' Or 'Terrific Fun'? Tom Cruise's Digger Continues To Divide Critics

For the first time in more than a decade, Tom Cruise is stepping away from the action genre and revisiting his weird cinema roots. In the new movie Digger, written and directed by The Revenant and Birdman’s Alejandro Gonzales Iñárritu, Tom takes the lead as an eccentric oil tycoon who accidentally unleashes an ecological disaster that threatens all of humanity. Initial reactions to its first screenings on social media were markedly split, with some admiring the ambition of the satirical drama, while others were more critical, declaring it “less of a bang and more of a hollow misfire”. Now that more in-depth reviews are out, critics remain just as divided about Digger. An unrecognisable Tom Cruise in his new movie Digger While most applaud Digger’s sheer audacity, the film has been called “aggressively unfunny,” “pretentious” and generally “pointless”, while more positive reviews have hailed it as “thrilling” and “terrific fun”. Here’s a quick selection of what’s been said about Digger… The Times (1/5) “You thought the trailer was tedious? Try spending more than two hours …

EastEnders legend Adam Woodyatt and more reveal how continuing drama continues to open doors

EastEnders legend Adam Woodyatt and more reveal how continuing drama continues to open doors

For the delegates who attended Edinburgh TV Festival 2026 last month, there was a unique opportunity for those interested in the behind-the-scenes process of a continuing drama – and for those keen on upskilling, too. BBC Studios held its regular “The Network” talent programme workshop, with attendees treated to a live script-reading from two of EastEnders’ most recognisable stars: original cast members Adam Woodyatt and Gillian Taylforth, who play the iconic Ian and Kathy Beale, respectively, on the show. The script read by the pair showed off the work completed by a contingent of trainees who worked on story development and scripting with senior members of the EastEnders production team and the actors themselves. The fruits of their labour can be found below in video form, along with a discussion including Woodyatt, Taylforth, and former programme member and now storyliner, Maisie Adair. Women have been priests in Sweden since 1960 – but the battle for gender equality in the Church continues

Women have been priests in Sweden since 1960 – but the battle for gender equality in the Church continues

When Sarah Mullally was confirmed as the 106th archbishop of Canterbury, this meant a woman would become spiritual leader of the Church of England and worldwide Anglican communion for the first time in history. For many, it has been a welcome shift that recognises the importance of female leadership at all levels – both ecclesiastical and secular. But some within the Church took issue with Mullally’s accession. For example, the Global Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans, a network of conservative Anglican churches across Africa and Asia, issued a statement declaring: “The majority of the Anglican Communion still believes that the Bible requires a male-only episcopacy.” Its members have refused to recognise her as their archbishop. Mullally’s accession follows a pattern, as more and more women gain access to leadership positions in churches across the world. As we show in our recent book, The First Ordained Women in the Church of Sweden: Narratives of Vocation and Recognition (2026), when their vocation to the priesthood is officially recognised, it gives them self-confidence, self-respect and self-esteem. But it also …
