Coach service offers journeys across the UK for knockdown price of £2 each way | Coach travel

Coach service offers journeys across the UK for knockdown price of £2 each way | Coach travel

A transport company is offering £2 tickets for coach trips across the UK to be taken up to May 12. With a £1 service fee, that means travellers planning journeys can book long-distance tickets from £3 on the FlixBus website or app. In England there is a government-backed scheme capping local bus tickets at £2 until December 2024, but this offer opens up longer routes and also applies to journeys into and around Wales and Scotland, where the £2 cap doesn’t exist. So, if you fancy a trip through the blossoming valleys from Bristol to Swansea, or from Glasgow to Inverness via the Cairngorms, now is the time to book. The deal is available until Sunday 21 April. The international travel tech company is celebrating three years of business in the UK. It runs in partnership with local coach companies using green, branded vehicles. Earlier this year FlixBus launched the first direct electric coach service between London Victoria station and Newport in south Wales two of around 75 UK destinations currently covered by the network. …

Coach Communication Is Key | Psychology Today

Coach Communication Is Key | Psychology Today

Since the start of the spring season, I have been consulting with many athletes and parents who have expressed concerns regarding conversations between coaches and athletes. Coaches typically prefer that the athletes initiate a talk and speak to them if they have questions or concerns. But what about when the coaches should be talking? Let’s discuss the importance of what coaches say and do (or not) and how it translates onto the field or court. At the high school level, athletes are told to speak up for themselves about any concerns or questions that they may have. It can be difficult for parents to sit back silently and allow their children to have these difficult conversations. However, this is a part of an athlete’s growth process. Sometimes, the conversations go well and are productive, and everyone walks away feeling good. Other times, coaches take them with offense and hold it against the player, which may adversely affect when and where they play. Coaches need to recognize that it is not easy for every athlete to …

UMBC agrees to .14M settlement in abuse case involving former swim coach

UMBC agrees to $4.14M settlement in abuse case involving former swim coach

The University of Maryland at Baltimore County (UMBC) has agreed to pay up to $4.14 million to student-athletes who were subjected to sexual abuse and discrimination by a former swim coach “for years,” the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Wednesday. The settlement agreement was met after the DOJ found that Chad Cradock, the former head coach for the swimming and diving teams at UMBC, sexually harassed male student-athletes and discriminated against female student-athletes, and the school didn’t do enough to investigate it. In 2020, the DOJ opened its initial investigation into allegations that the university failed to comply with its obligations under Title IX – to respond to students’ reports of sexual assault. The DOJ found that the head coach may have used a camera to film students while they showered in a UMBC locker room. “Rather than investigate this report or take action to protect students, UMBC administrators warned the coach that campus police planned to search his locker, thwarting the criminal investigation,” the DOJ said. In 2019, a student reported “unwanted sexual touching and harassment” …

Boss Tells Employee She Has A Lack Of Respect For Protocol Because She Flew First Class While Boss Sat In Coach

Boss Tells Employee She Has A Lack Of Respect For Protocol Because She Flew First Class While Boss Sat In Coach

While we owe a certain level of respect to our boss, no matter what field of work we are in, the lines can sometimes become blurred. Especially when issues of seniority are concerned. A woman found herself at odds with her employer over a first class plane ticket on a work trip. Taking to Reddit, the confused employee asked if she should have handled the conflict differently. A boss believed she was entitled to her employee’s first class upgrade. The woman requested nothing out of the ordinary when traveling home with her boss from a conference they had both attended. She was shocked when her superior called her out for being resourceful. The frequent flyer said that she had been booked on the same flight as her manager for the return trip home. The two, however, were not seated together. LSU coach Kim Mulkey says she hasn’t read Washington Post profile

Kim Mulkey, the legendary Louisiana State University women’s basketball coach, said twice Saturday she hadn’t yet read The Washington Post’s profile on her everlasting athletic career. “Are you really surprised by the timing of it?” she rhetorically asked a reporter ahead of the Tigers’ Sweet 16 appearance against UCLA, which LSU won 78-69, paving their way to the Elite Eight and a possible second straight national title. The highly anticipated article by reporter Kent Babb was published hours before the game. “I haven’t read it,” Mulkey said of the article, adding that she doesn’t “know that I will read it” and that it will be left up to her attorneys whether she does. Mulkey lashed out at the Post at a news conference on March 23. She said the reporter, whom she did not name, had been trying for two years to get her to sit for an interview for the piece, and then contacted LSU on March 19 “as we were getting ready for the first-round game of this tournament with more than a …

Positive signs early in Ogura’s tenure, but much to do for new coach and Lions, say football observers

Positive signs early in Ogura’s tenure, but much to do for new coach and Lions, say football observers

Speaking to CNA, Shasi and former footballer Rhysh Roshan Rai noted that there have been several positive signs early in the reign of new coach Tsutumo Ogura, but that there is still a long way to go. These include an aggressiveness in the Lions’ press, support options for players on the ball as well as a higher defensive line, said Rai, now a commentator and pundit. “There are some good signs, but it is still really, really very early stages for him (Ogura),” he added. “He’s going to have time now to settle in, and really plan out a few things. But it’s far too early to say whether this whole thing is going to be a massive success or not.” Shasi, who is also a commentator, said that Ogura’s approach has been encouraging, as was the Japanese coach’s willingness to start more younger and inexperienced players. One of them was 24-year-old Ryhan Stewart, who both Shasi and Rai agreed was one of Singapore’s top performers over both games. TIME WILL TELL Former Japan assistant …

Tone and strengthen your arms with these five foundational dumbbell moves from a strength coach

Tone and strengthen your arms with these five foundational dumbbell moves from a strength coach

It’s no secret that classic gym moves like triceps extensions and biceps curls can help you build bigger arms. Pairing them together in a back-to-back superset format is guaranteed to fire up your muscles.  That’s what strength coach Kirra Mitlo does in her recent workout video. She demonstrates five moves and suggests completing the first four exercises in superset pairings, then finishing with the fifth final move.  Mitlo recommends doing each move 10-12 times and repeating the whole routine three times, but if you’re a beginner you might want to scale this back with fewer reps or add rest times between exercises.  Watch Kirra Mitlo’s upper body workout @kirra_mitlo ♬ Give me faith unreleased – Alex Jean What is a superset, and what are the benefits? A superset is a training technique where you do two exercises that work opposing muscle groups back-to-back without rest. For example doing a squat, which hits the quadriceps, followed by a deadlift, which targets the hamstrings. Or, like in Mitlo’s workout, triceps followed by biceps. Supersets can help you …

Chennai keen to help Ruturaj ease into captaincy, says coach Fleming

Chennai keen to help Ruturaj ease into captaincy, says coach Fleming

Senior Chennai Super Kings players will help new skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad settle into his role as Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s successor but there may be a period of trial and error during the Indian Premier League (IPL) season, head coach Stephen Fleming said. The five-times champions begin their 2024 campaign against Royal Challengers Bengaluru later on Friday without long-time skipper Dhoni at the helm after the 42-year-old relinquished the captaincy amid speculation this could be his final season. Dhoni had previously stepped away from the role in 2022 with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja taking charge, but returned to lead the side after Chennai lost six of their first eight games. “The big thing about a couple of years ago was that we probably weren’t ready for Dhoni to move aside,” Fleming told reporters. “What that did was shake us as a leadership group into looking at the possibility when he does go. “Up until that stage, it was almost unthinkable, but it sowed the seed. So we’ve worked pretty hard on making sure that any mistakes that …
