The Princess of Wales has been granted an incredible new role from her father-in-law King Charles, having been appointed Royal Companion of The Order of the Companions of Honour.   In a royal first, the prestigious appointment is a new one especially created for Kate, who is currently undergoing preventative chemotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer. The honour recognises the Princess’ service as a member of the royal family and her support and interest in the arts. She is the first member of the royal family to be appointed a Royal Companion in the order’s 107-year history. Kate is patron of the National Portrait Gallery, the V&A and the Royal Photographic Society. The Princess is in good company as current members include Sir David Attenborough, Margaret Attwood, Dame Judi Dench, Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Elton John, and previously Professor Stephen Hawking and Sir Winston Churchill. Princess Kate has become a Companion of Honour, a special award granted to those who have made a major contribution to the arts, science, medicine or public service over a long period of time. Also referred to as a junior class of the Order of Merit, the Order of the Companions of Honour was founded by George V in 1917 to recognise services of national importance. There are only 65 members at any one time, and Kate will join the likes of Dame Maggie Smith, Lord Coe, Stephen Hawking and Desmond Tutu. The Princess of Wales, 42, has dutifully served as a senior royal for 13 years, since marrying Prince William in April 2011. Last month, the King praised the bravery of his “beloved daughter-in-law” for revealing her cancer diagnosis to the world. Charles Spencer shares impeccable photo of Princess Diana’s resting place

Charles Spencer took to social media with an impeccable photo of Princess Diana’s final resting place on Tuesday. The Ninth Earl Spencer, 59, shared the image on X, formerly known as Twitter. The beautiful shot captured the Oval lake on the grounds of the Althorp Estate, which features a small island where the late Princess of Wales was laid to rest. The image saw the location glittering in the sunshine beneath a bright blue spring sky. “Dappled light on the Oval lake and its island at ⁦@AlthorpHouse -⁩ first thing this morning,” he wrote alongside the image.  The photo couldn’t have been a more idyllic depiction of springtime, with a large flock of ducks surrounding the island, swimming in the sunshine.  What also couldn’t go unnoticed was the impeccable greenery surrounding the body of water. The grass was immaculately trimmed before a row of reeds. As for the island, the verdant array of trees, bushes and white spring flowers looked breathtaking under the sunlight.  © David GoddardA birds eye view of the Oval lake and …

King Charles Is Hoping to Resume Public Royal Duties Next Month

After a lengthy period of absence, King Charles is planning to resume public duties possibly as soon as next month, sources close to him told Vanity Fair. Following a cancer diagnosis earlier this year, Charles has been undergoing outpatient treatment at a London clinic, forcing him to pause royal engagements. While he has continued to carry out state duties including Privy Council meetings and weekly audiences with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, he has not carried out public engagements as he recovers between treatments. Charles’ last public appearance was on Easter Sunday when he attended church services with Queen Camilla and members of the royal family. The monarch, who was photographed with Camilla leaving church in Scotland on Sunday, has appeared in good health. While Buckingham Palace has not confirmed when the king will return to work, sources close to the monarch say he is recovering well from his treatment and is looking forward to taking part in some key forthcoming engagements. Dominic West Claims Lily James Media Saga Helped His Performance As King Charles

Dominic West has admitted his own experiences of being at the centre of a media storm informed his portrayal of a younger King Charles in the final two seasons of The Crown. Back in 2020, the Bafta winner and his The Pursuit Of Love co-star Lily James were caught on camera looking very cosy during a break in filming in Rome. The photos spread like wildfire online, prompting Dominic and his wife Catherine FitzGerald to put on an impromptu press conference outside their home, where paparazzi photographers were waiting, staging a kiss and holding a note which read: “Our marriage is strong and we’re very much still together.” Dominic West and wife Catherine FitzGerald kiss outside their home after presenting photographers with a note addressing the state of their marriage As part of a new interview with the Sunday Times, The Crown actor was asked whether this experience “fed into his performance” as the future King. “Definitely,” he responded. “I’d had a very acute understanding of what it’s like to feel the horror of your …

Prince Harry’s Netflix project offers Duke chance to ‘mend fences’ with King Charles | Royal | News

She noted the Duke is unlikely to be able to rely on the King or even his brother Prince William for direct comments due to their frosty relationship. But Bedell Smith said using historic footage and family videos of matches played together could not only highlight Harry’s connection to the sport but to his family as well. She continued: “Still, there is plenty of film footage available in the public domain to offer a comprehensive picture of the sport, even if Harry’s father and brother would be unavailable to share their reminiscences. “Revisiting Prince Charles’s years as a polo player could also summon memories of his broken marriage to Diana, Princess of Wales, which might be too painful for Harry to explore. “Yet offering perspective on Prince Philip and Prince Charles at the very least could be an opportunity for Harry to mend fences, especially with his father.” DON’T MISS: While speculation about Harry’s relationship with William has long suggested the brothers are not close to burying the hatchet, the King is believed to be …

Dominic West says Lily James pictures ‘informed’ his portrayal of Prince Charles | Ents & Arts News

Dominic West has revealed that pictures of him kissing actress Lily James being published in the press “informed” how he portrayed Prince Charles in The Crown. In October 2020, co-stars James and West were photographed embracing while they were in Rome. West, 54, who is married, now says the ensuing tabloid imbroglio helped him play the role of Charles, while he was Prince of Wales, in The Crown. The actor told The Times: “I’d had a very acute understanding of what it’s like to feel the horror of your name or your photo in the newspapers. “There is that dreadful, freezing moment when something is revealed about you. I think anyone can understand how that feels. “But I’d been through it, and it must have informed how I approached it. That gut feeling of horror isn’t something you get inured to.” Please use Chrome browser for a more accessible video player 1:22 The Crown – ‘a drama for entertainment’ During his stint as Charles, he played some of the most controversial moments of his life, …
