X-Men ’97 season 2 death repeats disappointing trope for beloved character

X-Men ’97 season 2 death repeats disappointing trope for beloved character

Warning: Major spoilers ahead for X-Men ’97 season 2 episode 7. No one is safe from death in X-Men ’97. That was true when Rogue lost Gambit to a giant sentinel, and that was also true earlier this season when Magneto was murdered by Apocalypse. But another death that suddenly occurs in this week’s episode is far less earned and ends up being tragic for all the wrong reasons. At the start of episode 7, X-Men ’97 season 2 jumps back to the attack on Genosha where Gambit died in season 1. Except, this time we’re up against the sentinels alongside Colossus and his sister Illyana Rasputin (aka Magik). It’s thrilling to see these mutant siblings fight together at last, but the thrills are short-lived when Magik is suddenly killed in action. Never mind that she could have easily used her teleporting ability to dodge that blast — what stings most is just how quickly the show discards a fan-favourite character who’s historically suffered more than Iceman in a heatwave. Despite her prominence in the …

The Big Bang Theory star reveals character was almost entirely different

The Big Bang Theory star reveals character was almost entirely different

HBO Max’s Stuart Fails To Save The Universe is taking the titular comic book store owner from The Big Bang Theory and thrusting him into the spotlight (as well as several different parallel universes). Longtime fans of the long-running sitcom will know Stuart Bloom (played by Kevin Sussman) as a well-meaning but often down-on-his-luck character, whose flailing attempts at romance saw him become one-time love rivals to customers, friends and Big Bang Theory lead characters Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons) throughout the series run. But in an exclusive interview with Radio Times, Sussman reveals that his character was never meant to be as big as he became – especially not one that, one day, would have a TV series of his own. “I think originally, in the first episode that Stuart appears, he was more of like a straight [man], like a normal guy that was supposed to be a threat to Leonard, really. He had a business, and he was kind of charming, asks Penny out on a date…,” he explained. “[But] …

6 Books That Will Strengthen Your Mindset and Character

6 Books That Will Strengthen Your Mindset and Character

Great character is not built in comfort. It is built in moments of discipline, reflection, failure, recovery, and growth. The right book can do more than entertain you—it can challenge your habits, sharpen your perspective, and push you to become tougher, wiser, and more intentional. Whether you want more confidence, stronger self-control, strengthen your mindset, or a healthier attitude toward adversity, these six books can help. And if you enjoy balancing serious self-improvement with a little entertainment, Perya Games on gzone is a fun reminder that focus, strategy, and enjoyment can coexist. The best mindset books do not simply motivate you for a day. They reshape how you think for years. Just as consistency improves performance in Perya Games on gzone, consistency in reading and applying lessons can transform your daily life. If you have ever struggled to stay disciplined, this is the first book to read. Atomic Habits explains that success is rarely the result of one dramatic breakthrough. More often, it comes from small actions repeated over time. James Clear makes a powerful …

When We Mistake Systemic Injury for Character

When We Mistake Systemic Injury for Character

Imagine two doctoral students with similar intelligence, motivation, and ambition. One progresses steadily through their PhD. The other has a child during graduate school, experiences difficulties with supervision, falls behind, and eventually develops significant mental health problems. Years later, early colleagues will likely remember one as “promising” and the other as “difficult in character.” But what if those descriptions overlook the most important part of the story? Psychologists have long recognised the fundamental attribution error: our tendency to explain people’s behaviours by their personality while underestimating the influence of their circumstances and environment. Most of us are quick to conclude that a student is disorganised, difficult, or lacking resilience, even when their behaviour may be an understandable response to an exceptionally challenging environment. Ironically, despite teaching this principle, academia is not immune to it. Graduate students occupy an unusual position. They are expected to produce original, high-quality research while often lacking many of the employment protections available to academic staff. Depending on the institution and their funding arrangement, becoming a parent during a PhD can …

EastEnders casts Casualty star as new character for Linda Carter storyline

Casualty and Heartbeat star Jason Durr has joined the cast of EastEnders for an upcoming “guest stint,” which will see him share scenes primarily with soap icon Kellie Bright (as Linda Carter). The introduction will be part of a forthcoming storyline in which Linda leads a campaign to save an Albert Square community centre, when it is put at risk by developers. A key ally in this fight may well be Clive Masters (played by Durr), a local councillor, who “sparks up a friendship” with Linda – and she “quickly realises there might be more” to their connection. Durr said: “Few shows command their place in the national conversation quite like EastEnders, so I’m delighted to be joining the cast as Clive Masters.” Jason Durr as Clive Masters in EastEnders. BBC/Jack Barnes/Kieron McCarron The actor continued: “Working with the wonderful Kellie Bright has been an absolute joy and pleasure from day one. All the cast, crew and production staff have been incredibly generous, welcoming and good humoured.” Durr added: “I’m excited for audiences to meet Clive …

The Walking Dead star says goodbye to beloved character after 16 years as spin-off wraps filming

After a successful 16-year run as Daryl Dixon, Norman Reedus has bid farewell to his beloved Walking Dead character. Reedus, 57, first starred as Dixon, one of the few survivors of a deadly outbreak, across the entire 11 seasons of AMC’s hit zombie apocalypse series, which ran from 2010 to 2022. He later reprised the role in the spin-off, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, which wrapped production on its fourth and final season earlier this month. Scheduled to premiere this fall, the eight-episode final season will bring Dixon’s journey to a close after he found himself washed ashore in a post-apocalyptic France. In a new Instagram post shared Wednesday, Reedus reflected on his time working on the popular franchise. Alongside a carousel of pictures from set, the actor wrote: “Finally going through these photos to check off from the last episode now that I’m back from Mongolia it was really hard to kill any of them. Norman Reedus has starred as Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead franchise for the past 16 years (Manuel Fernandez-Valdes/AMC) …

Toy Story 5’s Character VFX Are Next-Level Thanks to Tech Advances. And No, It’s Not AI

Toy Story 5’s Character VFX Are Next-Level Thanks to Tech Advances. And No, It’s Not AI

For Toy Story 2, Pixar wanted to animate 50 Buzz Lightyears at a time. In Toy Story 5, it finally succeeded. In the opening scene of the new movie, due for release on June 19, a gang of Buzzes patrols a dense desert-island jungle, each moving individually, while remaining roughly in sync. It’s a complex feat of animation — the kind Pixar has dreamed of achieving for years, said Thomas Jordan, the company’s VFX supervisor, while speaking at SXSW London. To ensure that every Buzz looked the same but different, the animation team created a library of Buzz Lightyear short animation loops that could be reused across multiple shots and then layered on top of one another. “Sequels are an appealing testing ground for technology because the look of the movie is already established, and we can reuse characters and their environments from past films,” said Jordan. Jordan has a storied career at Pixar (his favorite film he’s worked on is Up), and he explained that each Pixar movie borrows and builds on VFX breakthroughs …

Jess Cartner-Morley on fashion: Posh Grandpa is fashion’s new main character

Jess Cartner-Morley on fashion: Posh Grandpa is fashion’s new main character

Welcome to the season of the Posh Grandpa, fashion’s newest main character. We’ve had Brat, we did Coastal Grandma, we loved Tomato Girl Summer. The world is pretty heavy right now, as you’ll have noticed, so any opportunity to lighten up is precious. The nonsense is the point. Character dressing is style that makes you smile, but it’s not just that. There is infinitely more joy in these looks, however silly they are, than there is in aspiring to look rich and pretty, which is where the aesthetic centre of gravity of our culture swings back to again and again. The esoteric sides of fashion’s personality capture something important about style, which is that it needs a bit of friction to make it interesting. The pebble in the boot, the surprise to snag the eye. This is where the magic happens. I am all in with Posh Grandpa dressing, and not just for the lols, although I am also very much enjoying the spectacularly ridiculous vibe name. This is exactly how I want to dress …

The Bold and the Beautiful will see return of fan-favorite character this week

A beloved character on The Bold and the Beautiful will return to TV screens this week. Dick Christie will once again appear as Charlie Webber during the week of May 18, according to Soap Opera Digest. The actor was last seen on the long-running soap opera in April 2025. The Bold and the Beautiful, which aired its first episode in 1987, focuses on the Forrester family and their positioning in the fashion world as rival businesses come into play. Christie’s character Webber is the security chief of Forrester Creations, the family’s fashion house. Webber has famously been romantically involved with Pamela Douglas, played by Alley Mills. The two were engaged in 2018 but have not made it to the altar. Christie, 77, began appearing on the show in 2013 and has since appeared in over 200 episodes. He told Soap Opera Digest that his character “considers himself to be the renaissance man of security guards.” Dick Christie will return to ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ (CBS) “He’s got instant total recall of any diamond heist …
