This charging block was featured at CES because it’s that awesome

What charging block are you currently using to power your phone and laptop? Most likely, it’s the one that came with it or something random that you pulled out of your drawer. And here’s a secret: it might be why your devices are charging so slowly. Have you ever heard of GaN chargers? No worries if you haven’t—they’re pretty new to us, too. The term Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology refers to a new era of more compact and powerful chargers. This 100W Omega GaN charger was named a CES Innovation Awards Honoree in 2021, and now you can save 49 percent. Here’s why it’s so cool It might be hard to understand why we’re getting excited over a charging block, but we have a few good reasons: It has two 100W USB-C ports and a USB-A port supporting 22.5W When you’re charging three devices simultaneously, it doesn’t get hot Your purchase includes EU, UK, and AU travel adapters You probably hear a lot about different charging speeds but don’t realize just how convenient 100W fast …

Nike’s Prototype Shoes Squeezed and Heated Our Weary Feet at CES 2025. Here’s What They Feel Like

Nike’s Prototype Shoes Squeezed and Heated Our Weary Feet at CES 2025. Here’s What They Feel Like

“So far it feels like it’s vibrating, almost like a massage, sort of.” Those are the words of my colleague, CNET Senior Editor Lisa Eadicicco, when she slipped her feet into a new kind of Nike shoe at CES 2025. Made in partnership with Hyperice, these boatlike booties are basically recovery high-tops festooned with buttons and designed to help your weary tootsies recover from soreness and strain. Read more: These are the official CES 2025 winners, awarded by CNET Group CES 2025 Proves It’s Still Deeply Weird With These Bonkers Gadgets See all photos The innovative footwear, which we saw in person for the first time in Las Vegas, takes the idea of heating pads and compression socks as part of physical recovery for feet and calves and it makes that idea mobile. Instead of you being laid up on the couch with heating pads, or sliding into compression socks with no additional heating element, these on-the-go boots put heat and compression both into footwear that works on you while you walk around. What’s more, buttons let …

CES 2025: The 7 most advanced smart glasses we tried on – and loved

CES 2025: The 7 most advanced smart glasses we tried on – and loved

Prakhar Khanna/ZDNET A lot of what’s showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show doesn’t make it to the market. Fortunately, some of the best smart glasses we saw at the show will, making the product category one of the most exciting ones going into the rest of 2025. Also: CES 2025: The 15 most impressive products so far Over the past week, ZDNET has been scouring the show floor to select the best of the best. The picks below aren’t just limited to AR glasses that compete with the Apple Vision Pro and similarly-functioning VR headsets; they include Meta Ray-Ban competitors, tint-changing wearables, and more. Here are our best picks, listed in no particular order. 1. Xreal One Pro Kerry Wan/ZDNET I flew into CES with my eyes set on smart glasses that didn’t simply extend or mirror my phone screen. With such AR glasses, the field of view is often too narrow for the comfortable, laid-back experience that companies pitch them to be. That changed when I put on the Xreal One Pro, which leverages a proprietary …

CES 2025: This little magnetic band will help you breathe better

CES 2025: This little magnetic band will help you breathe better

Not everything at CES has to be some complicated technological marvel. Sometimes, there’s a low tech device that figures out a new way to do something even better than what has come before it. Take the Intake, for example. Mashable came across Intake, which bills itself as the “only magnetic nasal dilator” at CES’ Showstoppers event, where startups pitch their brand-new products. How did we find out about Intake? Well, because roughly half the attendees at the event were walking around wearing a little black strip across their nose. So, naturally, we had to check out what was going on. SEE ALSO: 12 new gadgets from CES 2025 that you can actually buy right now Intake’s purpose is simple: The company wants you to breathe better. Whether you’re just dealing with nasal congestion or have any ailment that affects your breathing, Intake is aiming to have its nasal dilator externally address that.  Mashable Light Speed Credit: Mashable The Intake goes about that in a unique way. CES Unveiled 2025: Jizai’s Mi-Mo is a walking stool that waved at me

CES Unveiled 2025: Jizai’s Mi-Mo is a walking stool that waved at me

Don’t be alarmed if a stool with a lamp on it strolls up to you at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES). That’s just my pal Mi-Mo. A model of the AI-powered robot made its debut at the trade show’s Unveiled media event on Sunday night, hitting the floor on six wood-capped metal legs and greeting bystanders with gentle waves. It’s made by the Japanese robotics company Jizai, which bills it as the first-ever “customizable General-Purpose AI robot.” I’d describe it as the love child of a mid-century modern table and one of Sid from Toy Story‘s mutant toys. (Affectionately!) SEE ALSO: CES Unveiled 2025: OpenDroids’ R2D3 domestic robot is ‘Roomba on crack’ Credit: Haley Henschel / Mashable Jizai CEO and creator Yuki Ishikawa told Mashable that Mi-Mo is made up of multiple AI models that give it the ability to think, act, and adapt on its own using visual, audio, and movement cues. Software engineers will be able to modify these models and develop apps for it to expand its capabilities, he added. Mashable …

AI Hardware Is in Its ‘Put Up or Shut Up’ Era

AI Hardware Is in Its ‘Put Up or Shut Up’ Era

Whether any of them will implement chatbots and agents well or in new and exciting ways is much harder to say. While the addition of AI may have been enough to garner the investment needed to build a device, it may not be enough to get people to actually buy the thing. Chatbots and AI agents don’t yet provide enough of a use case to justify people pinning them to their shirts en masse. We’re also at a point of AI saturation where the tech is in everything. So then, what makes your AI earbuds special? “That’s the problem a lot of these startups have; if AI is their differentiator, then what happens when everybody has it?” Sag says. “It’s now table stakes.” Wearables and devices built specifically to provide some AI-powered services may have seemed like the logical next step in the AI evolution, but so far the utility we’re getting from them doesn’t push any boundaries. “The reality is we don’t need dedicated hardware for the kind of features or use cases that …

Bobcat brought robots, augmented reality, and a new EV to CES

Bobcat brought robots, augmented reality, and a new EV to CES

Doosan Bobcat brought all-electric equipment, autonomous ag robots, and an augmented reality operator cab that’s so brilliant, you’ll be mad you didn’t think of it. You’re not crazy. It is a bit late to be post CES news — but very now and then you run across something new, and you can’t quite wrap your head around what you’re looking at until you’ve seen it a few times. That’s precisely what happened here. While the next evolution of the Bobcat Rogue X autonomous electric loader (above) had completely captured my attention, what I should have been getting excited about was Bobcat’s brilliant augmented reality play. Dubbed “Advanced Display Technology,” the new AR concept from Bobcat enables operators to see through the surface of the job site in front of them. This capability allows them to “see” electrical lines, gas lines, sewer pipes, and more. Solar Tents and Windows, Battery on Wheels: Energy Tech From CES 2024

Solar Tents and Windows, Battery on Wheels: Energy Tech From CES 2024

The world convened at CES 2024 this past week to get its first look at the tech that could be coming to your home in the near future. Most, if not all, of the tech on display — from the best of show to the wacky to the cutting edge — had one thing in common: electricity. While electricity keeps all your tech running, it’s also more of a focus itself this year. There were more than enough solar-powered gadgets, portable power stations and visions for the future of energy to go around. If 2024 is the year you take control of your home’s electricity, here’s the tech we saw at CES that might help you do it. A whole home backup battery you can take with you EcoFlow had the Delta Pro Ultra loaded up on a cart at CES so you could wheel it around. It’s surprisingly easy to move a battery that weighs nearly 200 pounds. Jon Reed/CNET The variety of backup batteries has exploded over the last few years. Other companies have introduced …
