‘Survivor 50’ Will Let Fans Vote on Game Elements

‘Survivor 50’ Will Let Fans Vote on Game Elements

The 50th edition of Survivor is enlisting the help of a new tribe — the show’s viewers — to help determine how the game plays out. Host and executive producer Jeff Probst announced Saturday that the CBS competition’s 50th season, slated to air in February 2026, will be guided partly by votes from viewers. The show is calling the theme “In the Hands of the Fans.” “From the very first season, Survivor has been evolving. Now, for our 50th season, it’s time for the next evolution,” Probst said in a statement. “Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans is unlike anything we’ve done before. For the first time ever, our loyal fans will take control — deciding key elements of the game, from twists to idols to advantages. I can’t wait to see what the fans choose for our returning players.” Viewers will be able to vote on certain elements of the season, including whether idols will be part of the game, if the final four’s traditional fire-making challenge stays or goes and whether to have live finale and …

Susan Zirinsky Back at CBS News As Interim Executive Editor

Susan Zirinsky Back at CBS News As Interim Executive Editor

Former CBS News president Susan Zirinsky is returning to a leadership role at the news division as executive editor on a temporary basis. CBS CEO George Cheeks announced Zirinsky’s role in a memo Monday evening. Zirinsky, or “Z” as she is affectionately known inside CBS, will also continue to run the documentary division See it Now Studios. Cheeks said that CBS News and Stations chief Wendy McMahon has been searching for an executive editor “with the specific mandate of ensuring we have the expertise, resources and oversight to enable coverage of the most challenging issues with the highest degree of balance and integrity.” He noted that complex, charged news like the conflict in Gaza can be challenging to navigate. An interview conducted by CBS Mornings co-anchor Tony Dokoupil even became national news, and sparked a response from Paramount controlling shareholder Shari Redstone. And on Monday, the Anti-Defamation League released a statement criticizing a 60 Minutes statement as “biased and one-sided” against Israel. “While there is no way to cover such sensitive issues without provoking some …

Kristi Noem claims liberal bias is why her interview on CBS went so poorly

Kristi Noem claims liberal bias is why her interview on CBS went so poorly

When all else fails, blame the interviewer. Kristi Noem, the Republican governor of South Dakota, is lashing out at Margaret Brennan, host of CBS’s Face the Nation, after a ruinous interview over the weekend. Before her appearance on the show Sunday, Noem said on X that she was excited to promote her new book, “No Going Back,” which she described as a “how-to guide for how Americans can help Make America Great Again!” But Noem seemed unprepared for any questions about the most newsworthy claims in that book: that she shot and killed her dog, for example. “I wonder if you have regrets about sharing this story?” Brennan asked. “This book is filled with vulnerable, painful moments in my life,” Noem explained. “The reason that this story is in the book is because people need to understand who I am. This was a dangerous animal that was killing livestock and attacking people.” Noem took to X again after the interview to complain about the interviewer. “This morning in our 15-minute interview, Margaret Brennan interrupted me …

Billy Gardell Gives Weight-Loss Update and Reflects on ‘Bob Hearts Abishola’s Final Episodes (Exclusive)

Billy Gardell‘s physical transformation in the last few years has been nothing short of phenomenal. He’s lost some 150 pounds since he first underwent bariatric surgery in 2021. And while maintaining the weight loss has and always will remain the goal, the 54-year-old actor admits it’s not easy. Speaking to ET’s Denny Directo on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, California, ahead of the Bob Hearts Abishola series finale on May 13 on CBS, Gardell says the key to maintaining his weight loss is consistency. Not everyone will be perfect in their weight-loss journey, but consistency throughout will go a long, long way. “Everything you do in this life is between your ears. It’s whether or not you want to. I think strength is asking for help when you can’t do it yourself,” Gardell says. “That’s how I attack this and, you know, I do it daily. And I don’t do it perfectly, but I do it way better than I used to. And so I think anything you want to change in your life …

Hawaii’ Canceled by CBS After 3 Seasons

Hawaii’ Canceled by CBS After 3 Seasons

CBS is shutting down one of its NCIS field offices. The network has canceled NCIS: Hawai’i after three seasons. The show’s season — and now series — finale is set to air May 6. The series, which stars Vanessa Lachey and added former NCIS: Los Angeles star LL Cool J to its cast this season, will likely end up as the most watched show to be canceled this season — topping two other canceled CBS shows, CSI: Vegas and So Help Me Todd. NCIS: Hawai’i is averaging about 7.8 million viewers in Nielsen’s seven-day linear ratings this season, and it hits 10 million viewers over 35 days of cross-platform viewing. Those numbers would make for easy renewals most anyplace else, but they put NCIS: Hawai’i only in the middle of the pack at CBS. The network will also introduce a new NCIS series in the 2024-25 season, a prequel subtitled Origins that follows a younger version of Leroy Jethro Gibbs (played by Austin Stowell). Flagship NCIS and the newest spinoff, NCIS: Sydney, are also set to …

Dan Rather Returns to CBS for CBS Sunday Morning Interview

Dan Rather Returns to CBS for CBS Sunday Morning Interview

Dan Rather is returning to CBS News. Nearly 20 years after stepping down as the anchor of the CBS Evening News, and 18 years after he last appeared on the network, the anchor will return to a CBS program. This time, he will be the subject of an interview on CBS Sunday Morning. Per a release from CBS, “Lee Cowan talks with former CBS News anchor Dan Rather about his work at CBS and his life in news.” A source confirms that it will be Rather’s first appearance on a CBS News program since he formally left the network under tumultuous circumstances nearly two decades ago. Rather said that he was the scapegoat in a scandal over a 2004 report for 60 Minutes II on then-President George W. Bush’s military record, and the anchor subsequently sued the network for breach of contract. The 60 Minutes spin-off was canceled less than a year later. The incident was memorialized in a 2015 film called Truth, in which Robert Redford portrayed Rather. CBS would refuse to accept advertising …
