Disney Sets Cast for Show on Killing of Jean Charles de Menezes

Conleth Hill (Game of Thrones), Russell Tovey (Years and Years) and Emily Mortimer (Paddington in Peru) have joined the cast of Disney+ four-part U.K. drama Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes. Jean Charles de Menezes’ parents and other relatives are serving as consultants for the series. The show focuses on the events surrounding the tragic killing of innocent Brazilian de Menezes after he was mistaken for a terrorist by London police in 2005. Told from multiple perspectives of those involved, it examines how memory — both accurate and distorted — can be turned into fact and shape our understanding of the truth. Where Have You See The Cast Of The Night Agent Season 2 Before?

After keeping fans waiting for two years, Netflix’s spy thriller The Night Agent is back with a bang. The show premiered with little fanfare back in 2022, eventually proving to be so binge-able that it rose up the ranks of the platform’s most-watched shows ever, where it now sits comfortably in the top 10. Season two began streaming earlier this week, and within 24 hours was already the most-watched TV show on the platform, with critics once again singling the new batch of episodes out for praise. While Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan are both back for the new season as Peter and Rose, the new episodes take the show in a whole new direction – with plenty of new additions to the cast. In that spirit, here’s a quick guide to where you might have seen The Night Agent season two’s cast before… Gabriel Basso Gabriel Basso as JD Vance in Hillbilly Elegy Netflix/Moviestore/Shutterstock Gabriel Basso began his screen acting career as a teenager, and after a string of small roles in the likes …

Watch The Insects’ Christmas from 1913: A Stop Motion Film Starring a Cast of Dead Bugs

Watch The Insects’ Christmas from 1913: A Stop Motion Film Starring a Cast of Dead Bugs

Kind Reader, Will you do us the honor of accepting our holiday invitation? Carve five minutes from your holiday schedule to spend time celebrating The Insects’ Christmas, above. In addition to offering brief respite from the chaos of consumerism and modern expectations, this simple stop-motion tale from 1913 is surprisingly effective at chasing away holiday blues. Not bad for a short with a supporting cast of dead bugs. Animator Ladislas Starevich began his cinematic manipulations of insect carcasses early in the 20th century while serving as Director of Kaunas, Lithuania’s Museum of Natural History. He continued the experiment after moving to Moscow, where he added such titles as Insects’ Aviation Week, Amusing Scenes from the Life of Insects and famously, The Cameraman’s Revenge, a racy tale of passion and infidelity in the insect world. The Insects’ Christmas is far gentler. Think Froggy Went a Courtin’, or Miss Spider’s Wedding with an old-time Christmas spin. Shades too of Johnny Gruelle’s Raggedy Ann and other stories wherein toys wait for their human owners to retire, so they may spring to life—though Starevich’s sleepy doll seems to have …

Casa Bonita Cast and Crew Members Win Union Elections

Casa Bonita Cast and Crew Members Win Union Elections

Onstage and backstage workers at the Casa Bonita immersive restaurant, owned by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have voted unanimously to unionize with Actors’ Equity Association and IATSE Local 7, it was announced Friday. “Today, we are proud that we stood as a group and said clearly: We want to make Casa Bonita better,” the workers leading the unionization effort said in a statement. “We love Casa Bonita, and already give our all to providing our guests with an unforgettable experience. When it is a safer, fairer place to work, we will be able to better focus on doing our jobs knowing we are protected, respected and valued. We knew that the best way to make that happen was as unionized workers, and this landslide vote confirms that we will. We are eager to take our place at the bargaining table soon.” The iconic restaurant, based in Lakewood, Colorado, recently reopened after being bought out of bankruptcy by Parker and Stone. The restaurant features cliff divers, actors, puppeteers, magicians and more as part of the …

Doubts Cast Over Recommended Pick For UK Surrogacy Regulator

Doubts Cast Over Recommended Pick For UK Surrogacy Regulator

Baby in maternity ward, London (UK Stock Images Ltd / Alamy Stock Photo) 4 min read12 November Doubts have been cast over the Law Commission’s recommendation for the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) to be the UK surrogacy regulator, PoliticsHome can reveal. The HFEA, which currently regulates the use of gametes and embryos in fertility treatment and research, was picked out as being best-placed to regulate surrogacy in a report released last year. The government is currently considering whether to take up recommendations put forward by the Law Commission, which put forward a number of proposals that would overhaul UK surrogacy law. The reforms would see ‘intended parents’ become legal parents from birth and open advertising for surrogate mothers and intended parents legalised. Surrogacy agreements – which would remain non-binding – would be overseen and supported by regulated surrogacy organisations (RSOs) that would in turn be regulated by the HFEA. However, comments made by the HFEA in an interview with The House magazine cast doubts over the suitability of the fertility clinics regulator …

‘SNL’ Cast Attempts to Get on Trump’s Good Side After Election Results

‘SNL’ Cast Attempts to Get on Trump’s Good Side After Election Results

The cast of Saturday Night Live kicked off their post-election show trying to get on Donald Trump‘s good side after he defeated Kamala Harris in the 2024 election earlier in the week. The cold open got underway with castmembers Bowen Yang, Heidi Gardner, Marcello Hernández, Ego Nwodim, Sarah Sherman, Kenan Thompson and Colin Jost speaking directly to the camera in a serious manner. “On Tuesday, Americans went to the polls and elected Donald Trump to be the next president of the United States,” Yang says as Nwodim continues, “To many people, including many people watching this show right now, the results were shocking and even horrifying.” “Donald Trump, who tried to forcibly overturn the results of the last election, was returned to office by an overwhelming majority,” Gardner says as Thompson adds, “This is the same Donald Trump who openly called for vengeance against his political enemies.” Yang and Nwodim continue, “Now thanks to the Supreme Court, there are no guard rails, nothing to protect the people who are brave enough to speak out against him.” …

Once a beneficent King Cyrus, Trump has lately been cast as a biblical avenger

Once a beneficent King Cyrus, Trump has lately been cast as a biblical avenger

(RNS) — He’s a type of a Cyrus, the ancient Persian emperor. Or a modern Job, defiantly enduring devilish persecutions. He’s Esther, positioned by providence “for such a time as this.” Now he’s a David, a flawed but anointed man of God … Meet Donald Trump, biblical paragon. In the past decade, Trump’s Christian theologizers, whom I write about in my new book, have made a hobby of connecting the famously profane, philandering, greedy real estate mogul to biblical heroes and quotable Bible verses. The medley of Bible characters, all mirrors of Trump and his cosmic destiny to lead America, are a pillar of his appeal to evangelical Christians. More recently, however, these biblical allusions and correlations have taken a menacing turn. The latest iteration of this trope is Trump as the obscure Hebrew Bible character King Jehu, an equivalence that may signal tacit acceptance that Trump is bringing in a tide of violence. Almost as soon as Trump entered the political scene in earnest, charismatic prophets, whose evangelical followers believe they literally speak the …

Monsters On Netflix: 9 Things We Learned When We Met The Cast

Monsters On Netflix: 9 Things We Learned When We Met The Cast

After over a week at the top of Netflix’s most-watched list, and countless pieces written about its content, it’s fair to say the latest season of Ryan Murphy’s true crime series Monsters has really captured the world’s attention. Having already split opinion right down the middle and sparked plenty of debate about its more graphic and salacious scenes, HuffPost UK managed to speak to the cast of The Lyle And Erik Menéndez Story about the making of the show – and its aftermath. Here’s what we learned when we spoke to Cooper Koch, Nicholas Chavez, Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny… The interview took place just days after Cooper Koch visited the Menéndez brothers in prison, which he said had been a ‘crazy experience’ Cooper admitted was “super nervous at first” but his meeting with the Menéndez brothers proved to be a “really amazing” experience. He met with Lyle and Erik Menéndez, as well as a group of other incarcerated individuals, in the prison gymnasium, where the inmates shared their names and stories, and the brothers …
