France’s first lady Brigitte Macron has made a cameo appearance in the hit Netflix series Emily in Paris. Season four sees Emily, played by Lily Collins – the daughter of British pop star Phil Collins – head off to Rome for new adventures. Mrs Macron, 71, who taught drama to the now French president Emmanuel Macron when they first met at his secondary school, features in episode seven, which was released on Thursday. In the scene, Emily is seen approaching Mrs Macron in a restaurant to ask her for a selfie. Brushing aside her security guard, the first lady is happy to oblige and says: “Emily, it’s you!” She then tells her friends: “I follow her on Instagram”. Whoopi Goldberg is looking to bring some holy presence to the highly anticipated third installment in the classic Sister Act franchise.  During an appearance on Wednesday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 68-year-old star told host Jimmy Fallon that she’s set her sights on getting a cameo from Pope Francis in the upcoming threequel. Last October, Goldberg visited St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City and met Pope Francis, which she teased as groundwork for Sister Act 3. “Maybe, since you’re seeing everything, you’re figuring out what I’m doing here,” Goldberg said in an Instagram video, “but picture Sister Act and all the nuns standing here, waiting for the pope to come out. Maybe that’s going to happen in the new movie. You don’t know. You never know, but we are in Rome, and I am in Vatican City. What could I be doing? Why could I be here? The fourth episode of The Sympathizer, HBO and A24’s limited series adaptation of Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer-winning novel, is an interlude from the usual business of spycraft as The Captain (Hoa Xuande) is dispatched by his CIA contact (Robert Downey Jr.) to serve as a cultural consultant for a Vietnam War movie from a hotheaded auteur (also played by Downey). While telling Lana (Vy Le) about the film, The Captain says that James Yoon is in the cast. Lana doesn’t recognize the name, but The Captain says she’ll know him when she sees him: He’s the guy that Hollywood turns to whenever there’s an Asian role. That’s why it almost feels like an Easter egg when James Yoon appears a few scenes later, played by John Cho in a surprise cameo alongside David Duchovny as the method-acting lead who refuses to break character, to the nervousness of everyone on set. The film fictionalises the events around the invention of the US breakfast product Pop Tarts, and is set in Kellogg’s during the 1960s. At one point in the film, Jon Hamm is seen parodying his role in the acclaimed TV drama Mad Men, suave advertising executive Don Draper. John Slattery, who plays Don’s friend and boss Roger Sterling in Mad Men, is also seen reprising the character in Unfrosted. The shock cameos were kept under wraps by Netflix in the run-up to the film’s release, though the official Netflix account subsequently tweeted out the clip. Reactions to the cameo have been mixed. The shelved drag persona, Kitara Ravache — with which Santos once denied any connection — joined the ranks this week on video platform Cameo, where users can commission messages from public figures. Videos starring Ravache run prospective buyers $275 for an averaging-53-seconds-long greeting. “Hey, you messy bit**es,” Santos says in one video. “Kitara is coming out of the closet after 18 years, thanks to all of you.” In a post to X (formerly Twitter), Santos makes a promise to share 20% of proceeds with pro-veteran and Zionist charities Tunnel to Towers and the International Fellowship for Christians and Jews. Though his dubious history with charities, including an incident where he allegedly stole $3,000 from a fund for a disabled veteran’s dog, may inspire doubt. Beyond Paradise star Felicity Montagu has revealed that Shantol Jackson, who plays Naomi Thomas in the flagship drama Death in Paradise, is hoping for a cameo in the Devon-set spin-off series.  Whilst chatting with HELLO! and other press ahead of series two, which arrived on BBC One earlier this month, Felicity revealed that Shantol is “trying to write herself a part” in the drama.
