Already Excited For Bridgerton Season 5? Everything We Can Tell You So Far

Francesca and Michaela’s first meeting marked a turning point for Bridgerton Now that Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha’s characters have found their happily ever, we’re ready for some more Bridgerton. Back in March, Netflix began teasing more information about what fans should expect from the hit period drama’s next chapter, with its fifth iteration set to mark a turning point for Bridgerton. If you’re as excited as us to return to the Ton, here’s everything we can tell you so far about the upcoming season 5… What will Bridgerton season 5 be about? After months of speculation, Netflix finally announced that the first series will revolve around Hannah Dodd’s Francesca and Masali Baduza’s Michaela. The official synopsis for season five reads: “The fifth season of Bridgerton spotlights introverted middle daughter Francesca. Two years after losing her beloved husband John, Fran decides to re-enter the marriage mart for practical reasons. “But when John’s cousin Michaela returns to London to tend to the Kilmartin estate, Fran’s complicated feelings will have her questioning whether to stick to her pragmatic …

The Sims 4 reveals Bridgerton collaboration, and it starts very soon

Some collaborations just make sense, and we’d argue that this is one of them: The Sims 4 is teaming up with Bridgerton for a suite of themed content. While some collabs between unlikely bedfellows take us by surprise (see: Pokémon X National Trust), this feels like a match made in heaven that Queen Charlotte, Lady Whistedown, and the gossip-loving denizens of The Ton would surely approve of. And better yet, it’s kicking off very soon indeed! You only have to wait a week or so for this content to be playable in the game. This news comes as fans continue to wait for The Sims: Project Rene (the huge upcoming update that was formerly referred to as The Sims 5 among fans), and it should go some way to keeping us entertained in the meantime. So, what’s the deal with the Bridgerton content coming to The Sims 4? When does it kick off, and what is it exactly? There are two main moments for fans to be aware of, so allow us to break them …

Bridgerton fan-favourite says she ‘won’t be in season five much’

Bridgerton fan-favourite says she ‘won’t be in season five much’

Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan has downplayed her involvement in the forthcoming season of Netflix’s hit period drama. Coughlan, who first rose to fame on Channel 4’s Derry Girls before being cast as Bridgerton’s Penelope Featherington in 2020, said she “won’t be in it very much”, as the new season begins filming. Bridgerton is known for shifting its perspective between characters, with individual season arcs focusing on new characters every year. Season three of Bridgerton saw Coughlan take centre stage, with the main plotline focusing on Penelope’s love affair with Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton). Speaking on the Dish podcast, Coughlan said: “Season five has started filming already, so I won’t be in it very much. But I’m always happy to come back. “I have it so good now ’cause I come in for a few days and I’m like, ‘Yay! How is everyone? I’ll see you in two months. Bye!’ They’re working super, super hard …

Bridgerton season 5 casts Mobland star as “cheeky Casanova” seies regular

The world of Netflix’s Bridgerton has just expanded, with the unveiling of a trio of new additions for the upcoming fifth season. Viewers will remember that the previous chapter ended on a sombre note, as Fran (Hannah Dodd) lost her husband, Lord John Stirling (Victor Alli), suddenly to an aneurysm. The devastating loss, which went unexplained by the medicine of the period, was a nasty surprise in the second half of Bridgerton season 4 – but it’s not the end of Fran’s story. She and John’s cousin, Michaela (Masali Baduza), are set to lead season 5 – and we now know a few of the new faces that will be popping up in their story. Tega Alexander (above) has been cast as “Regency-era Casanova” Christopher Anderson, who “could give the Bridgerton bachelors a run for their money” according to the early details. Bridgerton Season 4 is a Cinderella Retelling. But Why?

Bridgerton Season 4 is a Cinderella Retelling. But Why?

Like many other fans of Netflix’s Bridgerton, I’ve noticed the parallels between Bridgerton Season 4 and Cinderella since the trailer. The fourth season is based on the third book in the series: An Offer from a Gentleman by Julia Quinn. Even Netflix’s promotional materials call it a “fairy-tale romance.” By emphasizing the similarities to Cinderella, Season 4 Part 1 creates tension when this fairy tale narrative seems too perfect to last. Note: I’m writing this before Part 2 releases on February 26th, so this covers only Season 4, Part 1. Spoiler alert, if you haven’t watched Part 1 yet. Terms like “fantasy” and “fairy tale” don’t always refer to genres. They can also describe the wish-fulfillment aspect of romance, and Netflix’s marketing plays on this by calling it a fairy-tale romance. “Fairy tale” and “fantasy” can also suggest that a situation is too good to be true. This implication is key to the conflict that Benedict and Sophie must face in Season 4, Part 2. Part 1 doesn’t just have Cinderella vibes; it’s a full-fledged …

Bridgerton’s Luke Thompson, Yerin Ha Say Their ‘Not Thirst Trap Puppets’

Bridgerton’s Luke Thompson, Yerin Ha Say Their ‘Not Thirst Trap Puppets’

[This story contains major spoilers from Bridgerton season four, Part 2.] Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie (Yerin Ha) may have finally found their happily ever after in Bridgerton season four, but it wasn’t without plenty of hurdles and setbacks that come with any fairytale story. In Part 2 alone, while also trying to figure out how to make their relationship work within society — as Sophie is a maid and Benedict is a nobleman — Sophie is also dealing with Araminta’s (Katie Leung) vendetta against her, trying to throw her in prison forever, and Benedict is contemplating leaving his family and society so he can be with his one true love. But thanks to Lady Violet Bridgerton’s (Ruth Gemmell) masterful plan, Benedict and Sophie make it down the aisle legally (if you caught that post-credits scene) by the end, along with a few highly anticipated spicy scenes along the way. Thompson tells The Hollywood Reporter that it was important for them to “deliver something real” for Benedict and Sophie’s intimate scenes, “because we’re not thirst trap puppets.” …

From Wuthering Heights to Bridgerton, how did period dramas get so sexed-up?

From Wuthering Heights to Bridgerton, how did period dramas get so sexed-up?

Wuthering Heights is in cinemas now. Add it to your watchlist. It’s been clear for some time that that Emerald Fennell’s upcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights has an overtly erotic tone. Last August, test screenings of the film reportedly included a public execution where “a condemned man ejaculates mid-execution” and a scene where “a woman is strapped into a horse’s reins for a BDSM-tinged encounter”. Writer-director Fennell went on to confirm that her film is a “primal” and sexual” retelling of Emily Brontë’s Gothic novel, while the release of the trailer in December, which featured some strangely suggestive breadmaking and the sliding of fingers into a dead fish’s mouth, led to the movie being dubbed a “50 shades of Brontë”. It’s not the only period drama to have made the headlines for its raunch in recent years. We’ve had ITV’s Harlots (2017-19), Hulu’s The Great (2020-23), and Netflix’s Bridgerton (2020), to name just a few, all of which have offered sex-charged reimaginings of bygone eras. These titles certainly seem to be a far cry away …

Bridgerton season 4 succeeds by taking inspiration from Downton Abbey

Bridgerton season 4 succeeds by taking inspiration from Downton Abbey

Add season four of Bridgerton to your watchlist. Four seasons in, standing firm as one of Netflix’s biggest original series success stories and based on a fan-favourite collection of novels, Bridgerton doesn’t really need to switch up its format. It’s the series that many started off watching as a steamy guilty pleasure, with fans continuing to tune in each season to see what love story will unfold for each of the Bridgerton siblings. First, it was Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) then it was Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and more recently, Colin (Luke Newton). Now, all eyes are on the unserious lothario that is Benedict (Luke Thompson) and as we know, the course of true love never did run smooth. While this new season does certainly ground us in Benedict’s quest to find his mysterious Lady in Silver, the real draw of this instalment is the fact that it goes where Bridgerton hasn’t really ventured. It peeks behind the curtains, if you will, offering viewers a window into the goings-on of these lavish homes and wealthy families, while …

Bridgerton star Yerin Ha reveals details of ‘Cinderella’ romance in new series

Bridgerton star Yerin Ha has hailed the latest instalment of the Regency romance as “so magical” and “a real Cinderella story”. The popular costume drama, adapted from Julia Quinn’s book series, chronicles the Bridgerton family’s pursuit of love. Australian actress Ha, 28, takes on the role of Sophie Baek in the fourth season, portraying the love interest for Benedict, the second-eldest Bridgerton son, played by Luke Thompson. Speaking to the Press Association, Ha shared her excitement, stating: “I remember at the reading, the way everybody was reacting to the scenes. It was so magical.” “I remember after part one, I was reading it trying to figure out the pieces together.” She added: “The writing team did amazingly. I hope people will be happy.” Ha stars as a maid who disguises herself as a member of high society to sneak into a masquerade ball, where she meets Benedict Bridgerton. open image in gallery Yerin Ha as Sophie Baek and Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton (Netflix) Ha’s character rushes off as the clock strikes midnight, leaving only …

Bridgerton star teases season 4 dynamic between Francesca and Michaela

Bridgerton star teases season 4 dynamic between Francesca and Michaela

In among the romantic story of Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) at the end of Bridgerton season 3, fans of the period drama were also left on a bit of a cliffhanger as it related to Francesca (Hannah Dodd). She may have had an intimate marriage ceremony and wed Lord John Stirling (Victor Alli), but there was a clear spark between Francesca and John’s cousin Michaela (Masali Baduza) once they met. Their season 3 meeting only led fans into overdrive about what the future could hold and seeing as we now know that Francesca is set to be one of the leads of an upcoming season, many will be waiting to see what becomes of her connection with Michaela. Teasing what’s to come between them in season 4, series star Hannah Dodd teased: “What can I say? I think Michaela is a character that challenges Francesca whereas John is a character that makes space for Francesca. They’re both really important for Francesca to move forward.” Masali Baduza as Michaela Stirling in Bridgerton season …
