Jason Kelce shares update about his ‘stolen’ Super Bowl ring

[ad_1] Stay ahead of the curve with our weekly guide to the latest trends, fashion, relationships and more Stay ahead of the curve with our weekly guide to the latest trends, fashion, relationships and more Jason Kelce has provided more insight into what happened to his 2018 Super Bowl ring. The now-retired Philadelphia Eagles centre opened up on Wednesday 24 April’s episode of New Heights with his younger brother, Travis Kelce and guest star, comedian Andrew Santino about if they had located his lost ring. Previously, the brothers revealed that they were at the Lombaby Games at their old college, the University of Cincinnati, where they participated in an event that required the players to go through a pool filled with chili, spaghetti, and cheese to locate fake Super Bowl rings that were tied to socks, However, one of those rings was Jason’s real Super Bowl ring. “I legitimately lost my Super Bowl ring in this event, they could not find it,” Jason said during the 17 April episode of New Heights. “We have still …

Kansas City Chiefs lock in Louis Rees-Zammit for three-year deal with Super Bowl champions

Kansas City Chiefs lock in Louis Rees-Zammit for three-year deal with Super Bowl champions

[ad_1] Contract details are yet to be revealed but Ian Rapoport, NFL Network’s reporter, noted that Rees-Zammit’s deal includes guaranteed money as well as a signing bonus. The length of Rees-Zammit’s contract feels significant, giving the 23-year-old added security as he continues to adapt to the sport. Players who graduate from the NFL’s International Player Pathway are typically assigned to an NFL practice squad to continue their development.  But the recent changes to the NFL kickoff rules suit Rees-Zammit’s athleticism and could lead to him finding a spot on the Chiefs’ final 53-man roster at the end of August ahead of the new season, which would be an extraordinary achievement having only quit rugby to join the IPP back in January. Vaccines, IVF, That Super Bowl Ad: What to Know About Nicole Shanahan, RFK Jr.’s Running Mate

Vaccines, IVF, That Super Bowl Ad: What to Know About Nicole Shanahan, RFK Jr.’s Running Mate

[ad_1] Earlier this week, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced that his 2024 running mate will not be Aaron Rodgers or Jesse Ventura, but Silicon Valley lawyer (and Sergey Brin ex) Nicole Shanahan. What is there to know about Kennedy’s VP pick? For starters: At a time when in vitro fertilization is under serious threat, she’s a major critic of the procedure that has helped millions of people become parents. Politico reports that Shanahan has “for years denounced IVF.” In February, she told the Australian Financial Review that IVF is “one of the biggest lies that’s being told about women’s health today.” In a 2023 interview with The New Yorker, she told the outlet, “Many of the I.V.F. clinics are financially incentivized to offer you egg freezing and I.V.F. and not incentivized to offer you other fertility services.” In an essay for People published in 2022, she wrote “I believe IVF is sold irresponsibly, and in my own experience with natural childbirth has led me to understand that the fertility industry is deeply flawed.” While criticizing …

What your fruit bowl reveals about climate breakdown

What your fruit bowl reveals about climate breakdown

[ad_1] Spring arrived in style on March 26 2021 in Kyoto, Japan, as cherry trees reached the peak of their bloom. This marked the earliest recorded date when most flowers have opened in a series of annual records dating back to 812 AD – over 1,200 years. The culprit is climate change. Milder, wetter winters and warmer springs coupled with increasingly variable weather have caused blossom dates to advance across growing regions and a variety of fruit trees. While this might scupper the travel plans of those hoping to catch a glimpse of the famous cherry blossom in Japan, changing blossom dates are causing a much larger headache for those in charge of over 40 million hectares of fruit orchards worldwide. Fruit trees have a complex relationship with the climate. In winter, trees need a period of cold weather (known as chill accumulation) to exit their dormant winter state and resume growth. This is followed by a period of warm weather (known as heat accumulation) which is necessary to produce blossoms in spring. The amount …

Kansas City Super Bowl parade shooting victims feel forgotten

Kansas City Super Bowl parade shooting victims feel forgotten

[ad_1] Christopher Smith for KFF Health News Christopher Smith for KFF Health News Jason Barton didn’t want to attend the Super Bowl parade this year. He told a co-worker the night before that he worried about a mass shooting. But it was Valentine’s Day, his wife is a Kansas City Chiefs superfan, and he couldn’t afford to take her to games since ticket prices soared after the team won the NFL championship in 2020. So Barton drove 50 miles from Osawatomie, Kan., to downtown Kansas City, Mo., with his wife, Bridget; her 13-year-old daughter, Gabriella; and Gabriella’s school friend. When they finally arrived home that night, they cleaned blood from Gabriella’s sneakers and found a bullet in Bridget’s backpack. Gabriella’s legs were burned by sparks from a ricocheted bullet, Bridget was trampled while shielding Gabriella in the chaos, and Jason gave chest compressions to a man injured by gunfire. He believes it was Lyndell Mays, one of two men charged with second-degree felony murder. “There’s never going to be a Valentine’s Day where I look …

Mexico’s comfort in a bowl: Menudo, pozole and tortilla soup

Mexico’s comfort in a bowl: Menudo, pozole and tortilla soup

[ad_1] There is quite a bit of familiar imagery in the works at Chapman University’s Hilbert Museum of California Art, which boasts one of the largest collections of California narrative art and reopened in Orange on Feb. 22, after a three-year remodel. The Hilbert has tripled in size with nine new exhibitions across 26 galleries that include pieces by some of Southern California’s most well-known artists illustrating life in the Golden State. Many of the works from the collection of Mark and Janet Hilbert feature familiar sites I recognize having grown up in California — Orange County specifically. A piece from David Hockney, depicting a swimming pool isn’t unlike the L-shaped pool that takes up most of my parents’ backyard. There is Phil Dike’s oil painting of the Plaza de Los Angeles from 1939, with the artist’s impression of the lively area adjacent to Olvera Street that still bustles with life today. Paintings of Valencia orange groves, glowing with sunny warmth and images of waves crashing against Laguna Beach’s rocky shores are all scenes I …

Revisiting the Self-Refilling Bowl of Soup

Revisiting the Self-Refilling Bowl of Soup

[ad_1] Source: PippiLongstocking/iStock Quite a bit of research in psychology has been devoted to understanding the factors that influence eating behavior. This work is important because taking in calories at an amount that balances calories burned is an important part of the process of maintaining a consistent weight. A complicating factor in eating behavior is that when people choose to start and stop eating is based both on internal factors (like a feeling of hunger) as well as external factors (it is around dinner time). As a result, it is important to understand the contributions of these internal and external factors. One prominent study that aimed to demonstrate the role of external factors was done by Brian Wansink and his colleagues in 2005. In this study, the researchers compared the eating behavior of two groups of participants. One group ate soup from a bowl, and periodically, research assistants would refill that bowl when it was nearly empty. This group had a visual cue that they had eaten most of their bowl of soup. A second …

Matthew Slater, a Super Bowl champ with his eye on higher things, retires from football

[ad_1] (RNS) — Matthew Slater, a wide receiver who was picked 158th in the National Football League’s 2008 draft but went on to win three Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, announced his retirement Tuesday (Feb. 20). In typical fashion, he led his announcement with an acknowledgment of his faith. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith,” Slater said in his retirement announcement, quoting from the New Testament’s Second Letter of Paul to Timothy. The 38-year-old Slater, whom longtime Patriots coach Bill Belichick once referred to as a “perfect player,” spent 16 seasons with the team, earning the respect of teammates and opponents alike for his excellence on special teams, doing the sometimes anonymous work of covering punts and kickoffs. His excellence on the field led to predictions that he could one day join his father, Jackie Slater, in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Off the field, the younger Slater was praised by teammates, coaches and fans alike for his work as a good …
