BMW can’t build the new iX3 fast enough, with over 100,000 orders and production now running around the clock. Some in the US may get a chance to get theirs early. 2027 BMW iX3 deliveries begin in the US If you haven’t heard the hype yet, BMW’s new electric SUV is off to a pretty good start. The iX3 has received over 100,000 orders, and the company is now working overtime to meet the demand. BMW recently added a third shift at its new manufacturing plant in Debrecen, Hungary, just months after it introduced a second shift as it ramps up production. After the 50,000th iX3 rolled off the assembly line at the end of July, nine months after series production began, BMW said the facility had the fastest ramp-up of any new plant in company history. While deliveries began in Europe in March, BMW said those in the US would begin seeing the new iX3 arrive in late September. The RO AI Factory project began implementation works on 1 September and is expected to become operational by the end of 2027. Hosted by the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics (ICI Bucharest), the RO AI Factory will provide computing infrastructure for the development and testing of artificial intelligence models. “We want RO AI Factory to become a meeting point for research, academia, companies, and the public sector and, most importantly, a framework in which infrastructure, expertise, and collaboration lead to concrete projects and solutions,” said ICI Bucharest general director Adrian-Victor Vevera. The project is funded by the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) through the Horizon-JU-EuroHPC-2025-AI call. Baidu’s Apollo Go started robotaxi road testing in London today, and it’s doing it with both of ride-hailing’s biggest names at once — Uber and Freenow by Lyft. The launch lands days after Apollo Go ran the first fully driverless trial in any right-hand-drive market, in Hong Kong. Two milestones in one week, on opposite ends of the world. London: both ride-hailing giants at the same time Testing with Freenow by Lyft kicks off in Brent, a borough in west and northwest London, using Apollo Go’s sixth-generation RT6 vehicle. Safety operators are on board for now, and the route covers a mix of urban and suburban driving. Apollo Go and Freenow by Lyft say public rides won’t start until 2027, subject to regulatory approval. Chinese tech giant Baidu has started testing autonomous vehicles in London as part of its partnership with Lyft and Freenow, the German taxi and multi-mobility app that Lyft now owns. Baidu is the latest in a string of companies to test self-driving technology in the UK ahead of commercial robotaxi deployments. The testing, which began Tuesday with human safety operators, comes nearly a year after the two companies struck a strategic partnership to deploy Baidu’s purpose-built Apollo Go RT6 robotaxi across key European markets through the Lyft platform. The vehicles will eventually be available through Freenow, which Lyft acquired in 2025 for about $197 million. That deal gave Lyft a foothold in Europe’s ride-hailing market, where a handful of well-funded companies are now jockeying to be first to market with robotaxis. Some users who reserved their username have started receiving a notification that their username is active, and that they can now use it to send and receive messages to other users without revealing their phone number. When someone creates a username, WhatsApp will notify people who already have an active chat with that person.
