The Pickle Is In, the Squint Is Out: Here Are the Newest Approved Emoji

It’s official: We’re getting a pickle emoji next year. On Tuesday, July 14, the Unicode Consortium announced the nine new emoji you’ll see on your device in 2027. One new emoji is the pickle, and that means the eggplant’s reign as the go-to emoji for male anatomy could be coming to an end. Here are the nine new emoji you will see on your device next year.  A cracking face A leftward thumb sign gesture A rightward thumb sign gesture A monarch butterfly A pickle A lighthouse A meteor An eraser A net with a handle The Unicode Consortium originally proposed a squinty face emoji in 2025. New sunscreen ingredient approved in US for first time in 25 years

Federal health regulators in the US have approved a new sunscreen ingredient for the first time in over 25 years, introducing a chemical long available in Europe and other global markets. The significant development offers Americans access to enhanced skin protection. The Food and Drug Administration said that bemotrizinol meets its stringent standards for safeguarding against harmful ultraviolet rays, noting its minimal irritation and absorption into the skin. Shipments of Foundayo are set to begin this Monday. Eli Lilly stated insured patients could get the drug for $149 per month to $349 per month, depending on the dose. This pill joins Novo Nordisk’s oral Wegovy, which has seen over 600,000 US prescriptions since its December approval. Both the Lilly and Novo Nordisk pills resulted in less weight loss than the average achieved with Lilly’s injectable Zepbound (Getty Images) The FDA authorized Eli Lilly’s drug as part of a new program aimed at cutting drug approval times. The agency said it reviewed the company’s application in 50 days. In a clinical trial of more than 3,000 adults with obesity, participants who received the highest dose of orforglipron, 36 milligrams, lost 11.2% of their body weight –- …
