YouTuber Anthony Po on Organizing Timothée Chalamet Lookalike Contest

A Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest held in New York City Sunday took the city and the internet by storm, both because of its premise and the crowds it drew, but also because of the brief appearance of the real Chalamet. The arrival of the real Chalamet was a surprise. But the overall response to the farcical event was not. “Let’s just say I definitely have my finger on the pulse of culture,” said organizer and YouTuber Anthony Po tells The Hollywood Reporter. Po has been a content creator for about seven years, and briefly worked for MrBeast last year, before deciding to focus full time on his own YouTube channel, which has close to two million followers and is filled with creative stunts. The stunts include Po’s decision to eat a jar of cheeseballs in front of crowds in Union Square while masked, earning him the moniker of Cheeseball Man, a kind of quasi New York superhero status and further videos.  After dreaming up future stunts, Po landed on the idea of the lookalike contest …

La La Anthony Shares What Her Son Kiyan Has Taught Her About Fashion

Great style runs in the family! La La Anthony sat down with ET ahead of hosting the 14th Rookie Kids Fashion Show with Haddad Brands on Sept. 26 in Los Angeles, California and shared how her son inspires her fashion choices. Kiyan, 18, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Carmelo Anthony, walked the runway at the event in 2015, and the mother-son duo have exchanged style tips ever since. Shareif Ziyadat/Getty Images “We have continued bonding over fashion. He keeps me in the loop of what’s trending, and stylish,” the television personality, 42, explained. “The best advice I give him about style is to always be himself. It’s OK to follow trends, but make sure you love what you are wearing. When you love your outfit, you feel good,” she shared. Anthony has lived by this motto over the years when picking out looks for herself. “I think my style has evolved with the times and trends. I don’t have many regrets, but I may see a picture from 10 years ago and have a, …

Anthony Joshua defeated by Daniel Dubois in IBF world heavyweight title at Wembley Stadium | UK News

Anthony Joshua missed out on the chance to become a three-time heavyweight world champion after he was stopped by British rival Daniel Dubois in the fifth round. Dubois, 27, knocked down Joshua towards the end of the opening round with an overhand right to the 34-year-old’s chin. The IBF heavyweight champion then dropped Joshua at the end of round three and twice in the fourth. A right hook ended the fight with a knockout for Dubois’ first defence of the title. The fighters went toe to toe at London’s Wembley Stadium in front of a record 96,000 fans. Image: The 34-year-old was knocked down four times in the opening four rounds, and knocked out in the fifth. ‘My life was surreal’: Anthony Michael Hall on John Hughes, therapy and his ‘wild ass’ childhood | Film

‘My life was surreal’: Anthony Michael Hall on John Hughes, therapy and his ‘wild ass’ childhood | Film

If your formative years were shaped in any way by the 80s teen movies of John Hughes – crushes, triumphant underdogs, and an everlasting hankering for American high-school lockers – those actors feel something akin to long-lost relatives. Anthony Michael Hall has had an enduring acting career doing other work: he’s a 56-year-old father and looks nothing like his teenage self. But he can’t escape the nerdy kid in Weird Science, Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club. If he is tired of reminiscing about films that are 40 years old, he doesn’t show it. Hall has now been acting for 48 years. One of the biggest lessons his career has taught him is to “stay humble, because the journey will humble you. You have to continue to earn your place.” He has seen it all: extreme fame in his youth, followed by a bit of a crash in his 20s. Hall struggled to re-establish his career until he became the lead, in his 30s, in the sci-fi series The Dead Zone in the early 2000s. …

Why sportspeople should stick to the pitch and stay out of politics | Andrew Anthony

Why sportspeople should stick to the pitch and stay out of politics | Andrew Anthony

There’s an old adage that says sport and politics don’t mix. It’s a moot point with persuasive arguments on both sides. But in light of former England spin bowler Monty Panesar’s jaw-dropping radio interview last week as George Galloway’s Workers Party of Britain’s prospective candidate for Ealing Southall, west London, in the next election, perhaps a more pertinent question is whether sportspeople and politics are a propitious union. Panesar, once described as the “best finger spinner in the world”, was asked about the party’s commitment to leave Nato, which is one of its key policies. He admitted that he didn’t have a “deep knowledge” of Nato but explained that his party wanted to quit the military alliance to prevent illegal immigration. As the alliance has about as much control over migration as it does over the Eurovision song contest, it was one of those interviews that was best savoured rocking slowly back and forth in a crouched position with head tucked self-protectively between legs. In two chastening minutes Panesar demonstrated that not only did he have …

Anthony Edwards Scores 36 Points, Timberwolves Beat Suns 126-109 for 3-0 Series Lead

PHOENIX (AP) — Anthony Edwards hit a jumper late in the fourth quarter and snarled as he ran down the court, pounding his chest with his fist for emphasis as Minnesota pulled away for another dominant playoff win. The Timberwolves are the undeniable alpha dogs through three games of this increasingly lopsided series. Edwards scored 36 points, Rudy Gobert added 19 points and 14 rebounds and the Timberwolves used a hot-shooting third quarter to beat the Phoenix Suns 126-109 on Friday night and take a 3-0 lead in the first-round matchup. “We’re just embracing the moment,” Gobert said. “We have only one goal in mind and we’re trying to make sure we don’t get distracted by the success or the ups and downs. We’re just locked in.” Minnesota goes for the sweep in Game 4 on Sunday in Phoenix. The Wolves never trailed on Friday. Photos You Should See – April 2024 “This is a team you need to dictate terms with,” Minnesota coach Chris Finch said. “You don’t want to get behind big on …

‘The Voice’: Reba McEntire and Anthony Ramos Share What Made Them Emotional in the Playoffs (Exclusive)

Reba McEntire will be joined by her team’s celebrity mentor for the Playoff Rounds on Monday’s The Voice — and she couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Anthony Ramos to the singing competition! The In the Heights star may, at first, seem like an unusual pairing for the country music legend, but Reba raved to ET that Anthony’s versatility makes him the perfect choice to help her coach her remaining five team members. “He has done it all,” she marveled. “Broadway, television, tours, recording, it’s an all-around package.” “He knows how to interpret a song. He knows what the audience wants. He knows what an entertainer needs to do on stage to make sure the audience has a wonderful time. And I just got a big kick out of sitting beside him and listening to him,” she continued. “Talk to all my team. It was a huge blessing for them.” For Anthony, stepping into the mentorship role was “amazing,” as he described the behind-the-scenes work as “the most special part of making art… It was a …

My friend, Anthony Williams, died too soon. What trauma are other Windrush survivors still going through? | Ramya Jaidev

My friend, Anthony Williams, died too soon. What trauma are other Windrush survivors still going through? | Ramya Jaidev

My friend Anthony Williams, a campaigner and survivor of the Windrush Scandal, died last month. I first met him in June 2020 after reading a bone-chilling account in this newspaper of how the Windrush Scandal swallowed his life whole. Anthony arrived in Birmingham from Jamaica in 1971, aged seven. After school, he served with the Royal Artillery for 13 years. Later, he became a successful fitness instructor. But in 2013, his life suddenly, inexplicably, unravelled. The Home Office had declared him an illegal immigrant. He lost his job and was plunged into extreme poverty. Unable to register for a doctor or dentist, a tooth infection caused him to lose most of his teeth. I thought I understood the scandal – the systematic deprivation of the rights of mainly Black people and their descendants who helped to rebuild Britain in the postwar years – better than most. Nothing could have prepared me for that first conversation I had with him. Most people have little idea of how something as ordinary as a missing passport can unravel …

Anthony Van Dyck Painting Belongs to Bankrupt Brit, UK Judge Rules

Anthony Van Dyck Painting Belongs to Bankrupt Brit, UK Judge Rules

A UK judge has ruled that a prized Anthony van Dyck painting will not be exempt from contentious bankruptcy proceedings. The decision of the high court ends the legal row between the bankrupt British socialite James Stunt, his father Geoffrey Stunt, and the trustees of James’s bankruptcy, who had been pursuing the van Dyck painting, titled The Cheeke Sisters. Per the Guardian, at the trial in London earlier this month, legal representation for the trustees claimed that James was the sole owner of the painting, making it part of the bankruptcy estate. James and Geoffrey, however, claimed that the latter had purchased the artwork in 2013 for £600,000, in a bid to save it from being deemed collateral. Related Articles Their arguments did not sway insolvency and companies court judge Clive Jones, who in his Friday ruling said the painting will be classified as the sole property of James. He said, as quoted by the Guardian: “In my judgment on the balance of probability, Mr James Stunt was the contracting buyer. He did not hold the …
