Xbox Alpha update teaches a lesson about creating early-adopting updates

Members of the Xbox Alpha testing group, consumers that try out upcoming updates before they go live for everyone, were surprised to find out this week that the latest Alpha update was a bit more destructive than simply not working. It is occasionally the case that one of these updates does not fully realize one of its new features that is still in testing, but that’s not quite the case with the latest update. This one actually reset the entire Xbox to factory settings, essentially wiping everything from the console. Members of the insider testing group turned on their Xbox consoles, both Series S and Series X, and were confronted by a rather succinct “There was a problem with the update” message. This message was then shared by insider testing members on social media sites like Reddit, confirming that it was not an individual issue. There were fixes, like trying to install older firmware or simply avoiding this update altogether, but not much could be done after the update took hold. Thankfully, since the Xbox …

2025 officially marks the transition from Gen Alpha to Gen Beta

Stay ahead of the curve with our weekly guide to the latest trends, fashion, relationships and more Stay ahead of the curve with our weekly guide to the latest trends, fashion, relationships and more Stay ahead of the curve with our weekly guide to the latest trends, fashion, relationships and more Generation Beta officially begins on January 1, ushering in an era likely to be marked by rapid technological advancements and profound societal changes. Spanning from 2025 to around 2039, this cohort follows Gen Alpha (2010–2024), Gen Z (1996–2010), and millennials (1981–1996). As with past generations, these dates are flexible, reflecting the evolving nature of generational definitions. What’s certain, however, is the world they’ll inherit—a planet navigating climate change, urbanization, and rapid technological shifts. According to a blog post from demographer and futurist Mark McCrindle, “Sustainability will not just be a preference but an expectation” for Generation Beta, pointing to the environmental challenges he predicts will shape societal values during their formative years. Technologically, Generation Beta is expected to also heavily utilize artificial intelligence and …

Alpha Jesus and the Bro-ing of the American Church

Masculinity, Misogyny, and the Exodus of Gen Z Women Katelyn Beaty, author and co-host of Saved by the City, joins to examine the striking gender shift in evangelical churches, where Gen Z men now outnumber women in the pews. Beaty explores how pastors are adopting hyper-masculine tactics, from Monster Truck-style events to “Indiana Jesus,” to appeal to men seeking structure and belonging. Meanwhile, young women are walking away, rejecting spaces that feel increasingly shaped by political polarization and outdated gender roles. Source link

Elehear Alpha Pro Review: Hearing Aids With Great Battery Life

Elehear Alpha Pro Review: Hearing Aids With Great Battery Life

Hearing aids: Not only for the near-deaf? We’ve already seen one product in the emerging category of hearing aids designed for users with relatively mild hearing loss—the Olive Union Olive Max. Now there’s Elehear’s Alpha Pro, another affordable over-the-counter product that aims to acclimate users to what hearing aids can do … before things reach crisis mode. Elehear’s Alpha Pro doesn’t break any new ground in the design department, offering a traditional behind-the-ear design with a receiver connected to the primary device via a thin wire—perhaps just a bit longer than most. The units are available only in a dark gray color, which I find more aesthetically pleasing and unobtrusive than the more common silver or beige (yech). Photograph: Elehear The units arrive unconfigured, but new users get a free 30-minute online session with an audiologist if they need help setting things up and getting the lay of the land. If you’re a first-time hearing aid user, this is a good idea, as the audiologist can guide you through which settings and eartips are likely …

2 Huge Insecurities Alpha Males Hide, As Written By One | Glenn Harris

Growing up, blame and insecurity dominated my life. To survive, I learned to remain one step ahead of others and wear strong emotional armor. Today, I accept I am just another rider on the bus of life, and I no longer insist on sitting in the driver’s seat all the time. RELATED: How To Capture A Man’s Heart Without Getting Caught Up In The Myth That Men Should Be ‘Dominant’ Here are two huge insecurities alpha males hide, as written by one: 1. Body image is an endless struggle. Tough on the outside but insecure on the inside, they depend on their physical ability to dominate and compete aggressively against other men. They learn what it takes to rise above their competition physically. While these guys usually don’t verbalize their insecurity directly, their dissatisfaction with body image is detrimental. A body image survey conducted by Today and AOL in 2014 found men worry more about their appearance than they do other aspects of their lives (health, family, relationships, job, finances). Nearly half of the men …

Jensen Huang Is Tech’s New Alpha Dog

Jensen Huang Is Tech’s New Alpha Dog

Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos have each taken a turn as technology’s alpha dog, but none of them can claim that title now. Musk has become a polarizing figure, drained of all mystique. Zuckerberg sold us on a social-media dream that turned out to be a nightmare. Bezos self-ejected from the CEO chair at Amazon, so he could make rockets and frolic on his yacht with his fiancée. (Good for him.) At the top of the tech world, a vacancy now looms like a missing tooth. In the months after ChatGPT was released, in November 2022, it seemed as though it might be filled by Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI—but he doesn’t yet have the requisite longevity. (Zuckerberg was in a similar position in 2010, before he acquired Instagram and WhatsApp.) The AI boom has, however, produced another contender in Jensen Huang, the 61-year-old CEO of Nvidia. Rather than manufacture chatbots or self-driving cars themselves, Huang’s company develops the fantastically intricate chips that make them possible. Read: The lifeblood of the AI …

The 35-year-old senior marketer and mother Faith Hitchon has gone viral multiple times for her “trend reports” from her daughter India, who’s a Gen Alpha middle school student. In these videos, Hitchon reports from her daughter’s middle school pickup line and goes over what is currently “in” and “out” with the younger generation. From skinny jeans to peace signs, she touches upon what’s now considered “cringe”. “Do not even think about wearing pants that even hint at being tight,” Hitchon informed viewers in her first viral video. “Don’t even try it. A straight-leg jean is like, barely making the mark. If you do anything, that’s the takeaway.” In another video, she added: “This is going to come for the throat of every millennial, but not only are skinny …
