The Celebrity Traitors final

The Celebrity Traitors final

So that’s it for another series. With viewing figures like this, it’s a given that The Celebrity Traitors will be back next year. If I end up liveblogging it again, I will look forward to reading your comments then just as much as I’ve enjoyed reading them this year. Thanks for sticking around!

All in all, that was a pretty good ending. Kenny chucking Maya under the bus. James Blunt throwing himself out of the window. It hasn’t exactly been a classic series Traitors series, though, and questions will be asked how to improve it next year. Perhaps the answer is to go for people who really want to play the game rather than the biggest names. Perhaps more extensive psychological evaluations for the contestants. Personally speaking, it would be nice if there were fewer comedians and podcasters next time around. But let’s save the post-mortem for another time.

Bash and Romesh meet with the other finallists. Maya and Kenny reveal that they were traitors. Romesh is blindsided and calls himself the worst winner in the history of the game. Some fireworks go off, and that’s the end.

They both say that they’re faithful, after milking the moment for far more than it’s worth. And that’s that. Romesh and Bash win, and split the money. Both of them give their money to refugee charities, which sweetens the deal an awful lot.

Share

Romesh and Bash now need to learn that they are both faithful, which they are, so this is a bit of thwarted tension. But then again hasn’t this been a series of constantly thwarted tension as well?

Share

So that’s Blunt felled at the very last, done in by his own sense of vengeful hubris. What a terrible self-own in a series full of terrible self-owns. What a weird series altogether, really.

Just when we were gearing up for a classic good vibes ending, Blunt comes along to get revenge for Romesh calling him a traitor. A bad vibes ending after all! How fitting! Another vote:

Romesh votes BLUNT, even though he thinks he’s a faithful.

Blunt votes ROMESH.

Now everything falls to Bash.

Bash says that he thinks they’re both faithfuls, but he votes BLUNT.

Bash votes to end the game.

Romesh votes to end the game.

Blunt votes… ANOTHER BANISHMENT

Share

Now it remains to be seen what happens next. There is still some suspicion over James Blunt. Will Romesh and Bash gang up and get him out, or will they take their chances on a win?

Share

Romesh and Bash are allowed to confer before they vote again. Bash roots hard for James Blunt. Romesh isn’t sure. They’re both paralysed by indecision. But a vote is needed…

Bash votes KENNY

Romesh votes KENNY

Kenny is out. They faithful win! They got all the traitors! Except the traitors who got themselves, and a vast amount of them did!

Votes:

Romesh votes to banish BLUNT

Blunt votes KENNY. So near and yet so far.

Kenny votes BLUNT. Blunt is gobsmacked and angry about all of this.

Bash votes KENNY in a deliberate act to split the vote. OK, this is brilliant.

I studied medicine at Trinity College, Oxford, and qualified as a doctor. There are already many excellent blogs exploring faith, humanism, atheism, politics, rationalism, philosophical doubt and everything in between. But I don't intend to limit myself to any particular subject. This is simply a space where I'll share whatever comes to mind, whether it's something I've been thinking about for years or just a passing thought from the day.
