EVgo’s Next-Gen 750kW EV Charging System Is Capable of 10-Minute Recharge

This week, electric vehicle fast-charging developer and network operator EVgo announced its new 750-kilowatt EV charging system to the world. With speeds nearly double that of the current fastest public chargers in the US and Europe, compatible next-gen EVs could recharge in as little as 10 minutes. The tech is expected to be fully revealed in 2027. EVgo isn’t alone in pushing the charging envelope. Earlier this year, ChargePoint launched its new Express Solo DC fast-charging station, capable of delivering 600 kW of power. Meanwhile, Chinese automakers, like BYD, as well as European automakers and charging tech companies, are prototyping and deploying liquid-cooled Megawatt Piles, which are said to recharge compatible EVs in five minutes or less. Beyond making pit stops more convenient, future superspeed charging tech also has potential for full-electric heavy trucks and electric air mobility. The new 750 kW stations The new 750 kW charging system will use the North American Charging Standard, pioneered by Tesla, which has been adopted by most upcoming North American EVs. Global calls to slow AI advancement are growing. India faces a different calculation

Global calls to slow AI advancement are growing. India faces a different calculation

India needs its own methodology to track how jobs and tasks are changing, she said, particularly as disruption may show up through slower hiring and changing roles long before it appears as mass unemployment. Ghosh said the Indian government and industry have put far more energy into “AI infrastructure, compute, and skilling announcements”. “Much less into measuring what is happening to jobs and planning the transition for the people affected,” he said. But better measurement does not mean every use of AI should be allowed to move at the same pace, experts cautioned. “India should not slow general-purpose adoption, but it should slow deployment where error, opacity or concentration can permanently harm people,” AI&Beyond co-founder Bindra said, citing areas such as hiring, credit, welfare, healthcare and workplace surveillance. Venkatesan from the Institute for Human Flourishing said a key goal should be to ensure AI helps small businesses and self-employed workers earn more, rather than simply becoming more efficient. For example, AI tools could help small businesses find more customers, qualify for loans and navigate regulatory requirements, he said. Venkatesan suggested using existing networks such as self-help groups, farmer organisations, business associations, local …

I never manually check for restocks, price drops, or updates anymore because this Docker container has got my back

Finding the best deals is what makes online shopping special, but it often means manually checking for price drops, discounts, and other updates. The same is true when you’re waiting for an item that’s been out of stock for a while. By the time you realize it’s back in stock, you might already be staring at that dreaded “Out of Stock” message again. Recently, I came across an amazing self-hostable tool that has helped me stop doing these manual checks. Instead, a Docker container I’ve set up does it all for me, notifying me whenever a product’s price drops, it gets restocked, or there’s another important update. Since setting it up, changedetection.io has been a real time- and money-saver. These 6 cheap PC parts can cost more to run than they cost to buy

These 6 cheap PC parts can cost more to run than they cost to buy

Once upon a time, my homelab lived in my garage because the servers kept me awake at night. I ran Ethernet through a gap in a window in a rented house and somehow called it ingenuity. At this point, my partner had already threatened to hurl all my gear to the curb if I let it stay inside. Most homelabbers know that it doesn’t start this way. My first servers were tiny old PCs, the kind you find sitting in an e-waste pile because no one wants them. Then I discovered retired enterprise-grade parts that seemed suspiciously cheap. Each part purchased in isolation was a bargain, but together they cost more than just a massive quarterly power bill. It puts you in situations that require you to trust your intuition DimaBerlin | Shutterstock The universe isn’t against you. Strong Hong Kong Evening Sales Total a Combined $184.6 M.

Editor’s Note: This story originally appeared in On Balance, the ARTnews newsletter about the art market and beyond. Sign up here to receive it every Wednesday. The Hong Kong art market’s recovery remains uneven, with a mixed macroeconomic backdrop in Asia weighing on collector budgets, as evidenced by this week’s round of auctions in the special administrative region. Mainland Chinese equities dropped to a 13-month low this month, while the Japanese yen dipped to a multi-decade low in June. In contrast, South Korea’s economy gained traction on the back of strong semiconductor exports, while capital from the Middle East has continued to flow into financial centers like Hong Kong and Singapore amid prolonged geopolitical friction. Related Articles With China’s domestic market continuing to face headwinds, commercial galleries are already bearing the brunt.
