Many think Trump being treated differently than other criminal defendants: Poll

A majority of Americans believe former President Trump is being treated differently than most criminal defendants in his hush money case, according to a new CNN poll. Trump’s hush money trial began last Monday, marking the first criminal trial of a former American president. He has been charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records in relation to reimbursements to his attorney at the time, Michael Cohen, who paid an adult film actor $130,000 prior to the 2016 election to keep quiet about an alleged affair with Trump, which he denies. Another recent poll from The Economist/YouGov found that 24 percent of surveyed Americans think the former president is going to be convicted of a crime in the hush money case, 36 percent said they don’t think the former president will be convicted and 39 percent said they weren’t sure. The same poll found that 43 percent of surveyed Americans think Trump should be convicted of a crime in the case, 37 percent think he shouldn’t be and 20 percent are unsure. Following the second …

Cohen suggests Trump attacking judges to ‘fuel up his supporters’

Michael Cohen, the ex-personal lawyer of former President Trump, suggested Trump attacks those involved in his criminal cases in order to “fuel up his supporters” to do the same. “His goal is to fuel up his supporters … for the sole purpose of getting them to act no differently and as stupidly as they did on Jan. 6,” Cohen said Friday in an appearance on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut.” “His goal is to get them to attack these individuals, these critics of him as often and as frequently as they possibly can, whether it’s going to be on social media, whether it’ll be through phone calls, whether it will be in person,” he told host Joy Reid. “I mean, that’s his goal. Intimidation and witness– it’s witness intimidation and it’s harassment.” His remarks come just days after Trump levied attacks against Judge Juan Merchan — who is overseeing his case related to a hush money payment paid to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in 2016 — and his daughter. The former president has also lashed out …

Hasan vows to cover Trump legal cases differently: ‘We will stop with this charade’

Former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan vowed Friday that his new company will cover the former President Trump’s legal woes differently than the media has thus far. “We will stop with this charade that this is a legal story,” Hasan said Friday evening in an interview on NewsNation’s “Cuomo.” “Like you and I both worked in cable for many years, you longer than me,” Hasan told host Chris Cuomo. “There’s some great legal analysts, some great lawyers and prosecutors on air, many of them are friends of mine. But I think it’s a mistake to frame this story as a legal story.” Hasan’s new company, “Zeteo” will cater to the progressives and seek “answers for the questions that really matter, while always striving for the truth,” according to a Substack website for the company. He pointed out the Supreme Court’s recent decision to pick up the issue of whether former President Trump can be criminally prosecuted for his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, calling it a “political story” rather than a legal one. “This is …
