Researchers uncover the truth behind destructive events chronicled in Biblical texts

Archaeologists have long sought to bridge the gap between the narratives of ancient texts and the tangible evidence hidden beneath the earth’s surface. In a groundbreaking study published in the prestigious PLOS ONE scientific journal, archaeologists have harnessed the power of radiocarbon dating to unveil the truth behind events chronicled in Biblical texts, particularly those centered around the enigmatic ancient Levantine city of Gezer. This captivating journey through time takes us back to the heart of Gezer, an archaeological site nestled in the historic landscapes of Israel. For centuries, Gezer has captivated the imagination of scholars and theologians alike, with its mention in Egyptian, Assyrian, and Biblical texts. In this narrative, we explore how radiocarbon dating has shed new light on this ancient city’s tumultuous history, confirming some long-held beliefs while challenging others. IOS 18 tipped to get 3 new AI features, including Siri summarizing your texts

iOS 18, the next major iteration of the iPhone operating system, is reportedly going to feature a new suite of AI-powered features designed to keep up with the AI race where Google, Microsoft, and other tech giants are at the forefront. According to a report from AppleInsider, Apple doesn’t necessarily care to roll out an AI chatbot like OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Google Gemini. Instead, the Cupertino-based tech giant is focused on enhancing the capabilities of utilities and apps that already exist within the Apple ecosystem, including Siri, Safari, Messages, and Spotlight Search. As we reported in mid-April, these AI features are rumored to be “on device” (for the most part) to stay true to Apple’s commitment to user privacy. Film Executive Ryan Millsap Allegedly Sent Racist, Antisemitic Texts

Film Executive Ryan Millsap Allegedly Sent Racist, Antisemitic Texts

Ryan Millsap, former CEO and owner of Blackhall Studios, made a name for himself in Atlanta as an executive who encouraged diversity. But, per a report in ProPublica, he may not have been as pro-diversity and inclusion as he appeared. This week, ProPublica staffer Nicole Carr and Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Mike Jordan published an investigation that looked into hundreds of pages of text messages between Millsap and his ex-girlfriend, Christy Hockmeyer, that were submitted as evidence in a lawsuit against him. His texts, mostly from 2019, included comments about “Fucking Black people” and “nasty Jews,” as well as other racist and antisemitic views. The pages were released due to a legal dispute, which includes various filings, between the real estate developer and his former attorney, John Da Grosa Smith. “Ryan’s public persona is different from who he is,” Smith wrote in one of the filings. He added, “Ryan works hard to mislead and hide the truth. And he is very good at it.” The Hollywood Reporter reached out to a representative for Smith for comment. …

They have bigger brains than you. You might get a job as bouncer at gay bar,” Hadid reportedly told Torres in a message. According to the publication, another message read, “Make sure you dress as KKK to hide that ugly gray colored face of yours.” In the only screenshot shared by the New York Post, Hadid wrote, “You are just unusual Black and colorful mouth for Israeli and AIPAC and looking for payday of over 500K,” referring to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. For Christopher Schwarz, American anarchism isn’t “about bombs and leather jackets; it’s about being an independent designer.” It’s about working outside “massive and dehumanizing institutions” (like corporations) and designing beautiful objects that last. He writes: “As a designer of books, tools and furniture, I have zero desire to make things that are intended from the get-go to fall apart.” Based in Covington, Kentucky, Schwarz runs a small woodworking business where he handcrafts beautiful tables, chairs and other pieces of furniture. He also runs Lost Art Press, which publishes books like The Anarchist’s Tool Chest, The Anarchist’s Design Book, The Anarchist’s Workbench, and other titles. His “Anarchist” series of books “represent a 10-year effort to make woodworking more accessible, affordable and ethical – and less commercial.” Typically the print editions run $30-$54. But, to the delight of many fellow woodworkers, Schwarz has made several editions available as free digital downloads. This includes (as of this week) The Anarchist’s Tool Chest, which “shows you how you can build furniture with only a small kit of high-quality tools. The first …

Why A Certain Type Of Text Message Ruins Even The Best Relationships | Dr. Randi Gunther

Texting has become one of the most popular forms of instant communication today. And because intimate partners are likely to save these messages, they form a valuable archived written history of their relationship’s “story”. This ongoing record provides a unique opportunity for men and women to evaluate the types of text messages they send, whether or not their communication skills are helping or hindering their relationships, and the extent to which the quality of their texts synchronizes with the quality of their typical face-to-face interactions. RELATED: 12 Tiny Promises The Happiest Married Couples Make Here’s why a certain type of text message ruins even the best relationships — and what to do about it: 1. Message length In my discussions with couples I work with, most couples believe women are “wordier” than men, but whoever is the most talkative depends on the subject and situation in question. These couples also unanimously tell me men like to hear the bottom line first, then work up to the detailed back story (and only if necessary), whereas women like …

iOS 17.4: Siri Can Now Read Texts to You in More Languages. Here’s How

Apple released iOS 17.4 on March 5, and the update brought a handful of bug fixes and new features, like new emoji and more Stolen Device Protection options, to your iPhone. One of the latest features can be helpful for many people as it allows Siri to read texts back to you in languages other than your iPhone’s primary language. According to a 2008 study published in the Journal of Neurolinguistics, more than half of the world’s population is considered bilingual. And this study also posits that bilingualism will continue to increase as people migrate to other countries each year. This makes Siri’s ability to read multiple languages extremely useful to a growing number of people.  Here’s what to know about the feature and how to enable it. Which languages Siri can read and how to enable the feature Apple gave Siri the ability to read messages in 22 different languages and dialects, in addition to English. Here are the languages and dialects you can choose from. Arabic Chinese (Cantonese – Hong Kong) Chinese (Mandarin …

How to Use Wi-Fi Calling for Calls and Texts Without Cellular Service

How to Use Wi-Fi Calling for Calls and Texts Without Cellular Service

Even though wireless carriers often tout their beefy nationwide 5G networks, outages can and do happen. AT&T’s recent outage was widespread enough that the carrier advised its customers to make use of Wi-Fi calling as a backup — which is a feature that Verizon and AT&T both offer to their subscribers. Despite the name, Wi-Fi calling also includes texting and video calls, effectively extending your mobile phone carrier services through the use of your home internet connection. In addition to the iPhone and Android smartphones, many basic flip phones also now include Wi-Fi calling support, making it a broadly accessible feature. Even SMS and MMS texts can be sent and received over Wi-Fi when this is set up. Read more: The Perils of Having a Smartphone As Your Main Means of Connection Wi-Fi calling also doesn’t even need to be a fallback just for an emergency. If your home internet connection is fast enough, your phone may default to using Wi-Fi for your phone service and swap to a cellular connection when your network is …

MH370 pilot went on wild rant and sent ‘obsessive’ texts before plane vanished | World | News

A top aviation expert in Australia has claimed that Malaysia knows the “shameful truth” about where the MH370 plane landed.  Geoffrey Thomas, who has been in the aviation industry for 50 years, said that the wreckage of Malaysia Airlines is located 1200 miles west of Perth. He says this was determined by experts who traced the final flight path of the plane, which vanished 10 years ago.  Thomas said aerospace engineer Richard Godfrey used radio waves to track the plane’s route and believes that “one more search in 2024” will reveal where the plane landed.  The pilot “was pushing down on the control column” to intentionally crash the plane in a high-speed dive so that it “broke up into as many pieces as possible,” he claimed.  The victim’s families have been “on a ghastly rollercoaster ride as ridiculous theories are floated,” Thomas said, adding that the crash was a “pilot suicide and mass murder of the worst kind because no one could escape”.  The Malaysian government previously refused to start a new search but the …
