Rivian R2 launch event officially scheduled for March 7th in Laguna, here’s what to expect

Rivian R2 launch event officially scheduled for March 7th in Laguna, here’s what to expect

Rivian R2 clay model (Source: Rivian) Rivian today announced that the company is going to show the world the smaller, more value-focused R2 at their Laguna showroom on March 7th. We uncovered the launch event date and location earlier, but the move is now official and could include some surprises. Rivian recently opened a new flagship store in Laguna Beach at the site of a historic theater, first opened in 1936 which had been boarded up. Led by Rivian design VP Denise Cherry, the company restored the building into a retail and event space with a homage stage and theater screen seen below. Rivian’s plans were leaked earlier via the Laguna Beach town government website, which published Rivian’s intention to use an adjacent lot for the event. Those plans were subsequently removed either for secrecy or because of a change of plans. Laguna Beach is 17 minutes away (depending on traffic) from its Irvine headquarters, making it a relatively easy commute for its executives, including CEO RJ Scaringe. Electrek will be on site and Rivian told us …

“Particularly troubling”: Ex-US attorney alarmed over Judge Cannon’s “oddly scheduled” docs meeting

The timing of Judge Aileen Cannon’s Wednesday closed-door meeting with special counsel Jack Smith raises a red flag in Donald Trump’s Florida classified documents case, signaling the Trump’s appointee’s potential bias toward the former president, ex-federal prosecutor Joyce Vance argues. The meeting — which Trump and his legal team were prohibited from attending — to discuss which classified materials will be shared with the defense is a standard procedure for such cases. But it being “oddly scheduled” indicates Cannon is delaying the case’s pretrial procedures, Vance said. “One of the biggest objections to Judge Cannon’s handling of the case has been the exceptional amount of delay she has indulged Trump with in what should have been a fairly straightforward case,” the former U.S. attorney wrote in the Monday edition of her Substack newsletter, pointing to the case’s Classified Information Procedures Act proceedings. Section 4 of the act allows Smith to argue for the exclusion of classified information from the case or its replacement with unclassified summaries, but requires the special counsel to first get permission …

UK general election likely to be scheduled for 14 November, expert says – politics live | Politics

UK general election likely to be scheduled for 14 November, expert Sir John Curtice says Good morning. Keir Starmer will be doing his ‘Call Keir’ phone-in on LBC shortly. We heard quite a lot from him yesterday, but there is always more to ask, and he might have more to say about the timing of the general election. Despite Rishi Sunak saying yesterday that he does not expect to call a May election. Labour sources, who spent the last few weeks talking up the prospects of a spring poll, almost certainly to roll the pitch for attacks on Sunak for “bottling” it, are claiming they are not convinced. In her London Playbook briefing for Politico, Eleni Courea reports: Senior Labour strategists tell Playbook they still think that’s when it will take place. One senior party official bet £100 last night that the GE will happen between April and June. But Prof Sir John Curtice, Britain’s leading elections expert, told the Today progamme this morning that for a long time he has been planning his schedule …

NASA sends a satellite to check out the ‘God of Chaos’ scheduled to pass Earth on April 13, 2029

Artist rending of an asteroid Credit: NASA/Wikipedia/Public Domain While it may not be the mountain-sized asteroid that the Apostle John warned would hit the earth during the apocalyptic end times (Revelation 8:8-9), NASA is still curious. Curious enough that it’s sending one of its deep space satellites, OSIRIS-APEX, to check out an asteroid known as Apophis or the God of Chaos that is scheduled to brush past Earth on April 13, 2029, the New York Post reports. Yes, that is a Friday. God of Chaos is about 370 yards (0.34 km) across, or over nearly four times larger than a football field. I am not sure if it qualifies as the Apostle John’s mountain-sized asteroid that will slam into one of the world’s oceans, but it is getting there. What is concerning is that the God of Chaos will pass within 20,000 miles (ca. 32,187 km) of Earth that ominous Friday, which is closer than some satellites that we have orbiting earth. It will also be close enough to be impacted by Earth’s gravity. OSIRIS-APEX …

SBF scheduled to testify tomorrow at US House hearing on FTX collapse

SBF scheduled to testify tomorrow at US House hearing on FTX collapse

FTX’s fallen CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried, is scheduled to testify tomorrow as a witness before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services. The committee is investigating the events that led up to FTX’s implosion, which resulted in the crypto exchange filing for bankruptcy last month. Prior to Bankman-Fried testifying, John J. Ray III, the new CEO of FTX, will speak to the House during its first panel. The hearing, “Investigating the Collapse of FTX, Part I,” sounds like a movie title — and some parts of it probably feel like one, given how crazy this whole situation has become. But questions surrounding what really happened at FTX may remain unanswered; even though Bankman-Fried is scheduled to testify, there are still concerns he may get cold feet. Last week, in a back-and-forth tweet exchange, California Representative Maxine Waters, the chairwoman of the House of Committee on Financial Services, invited Bankman-Fried to join the hearing on December 13. Bankman-Fried effectively declined. That didn’t sit well with Waters, who noted that Bankman-Fried has been on a personal …
