Teams including France, pictured here, have been competing in the artistic swimming – formerly known as synchronised swimming – at the aquatics centre north of Paris. When synchro was introduced at the 1984 Olympics, the New York Times declared it one of the new Olympic ‘glamour events’. A focus on the bedazzled costumes and aesthetics, according to Time, cemented ‘the idea that the world of competitive synchro was a feminine, performative domain’. This year, for the first time, men were allowed to compete, although none did. Watch this space for LA 2028 Source link

See How They Are Similar

(Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Fall Guy movie.) Yes, The Fall Guy is based on a TV series. If you weren’t aware of that, it’s likely because you’re of a younger generation that wasn’t alive or old enough to remember the series, which hasn’t exactly re-entered the zeitgeist in the four decades since it went off the air. (An unscientific scan of social media shows more than a few folks who had no idea of the original IP.) But for moviegoers of a certain age, there are references to the series that inspire nostalgia. The show, which aired from 1981-86, starred Lee Majors as a stuntman who moonlighted as a bounty hunter. The movie stars Ryan Gosling in the lead role, who is also a stuntman. While the movie is not an exact copy of the show, there are several ways in which the film references and pays tribute to the original. Read on to see how — and where the movie differs from the show.  The Characters Gosling and Majors both played characters named Colt …

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes reveal how their daughters really feel about fame, candid response to mom’s project

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes keep their daughters Esmeralda, nine, and Amada, seven, out of the spotlight, and also choose to lead their own lives privately. However, despite being major Hollywood stars, it seems like their private upbringing has left their daughters with a bit more of an apathetic taste for their parents’ fame. In a conversation with People, the actor opened up their girls’ perceptions of their parents’ fame, and why they weren’t that interested in the glitz and glamor of it all. You may also likeRyan Gosling on the impact that this daughters with Eva Mendes have on his career “They don’t care,” he said, saying that there was “nothing” that would change them being just their parents, which also included that familiar feeling of childhood embarrassment. One such example, Ryan, 43, recalled, was when Eva, 50, was on an episode of the hit kids’ show Bluey in 2021, voicing a yoga instructor, and they both believed that it would be a big get for their daughters. “Eva was on an episode of …

The 1 Role Ryan Gosling Would Like To Revisit

The 1 Role Ryan Gosling Would Like To Revisit

It’s difficult to imagine a Ryan Gosling flick that deserves a re-do, but according to the actor himself, there is one he’d love to revisit – and it’s kind of nothing to do with the actual film. In a video with Wall Street Style, Ryan discussed his upcoming film The Fall Guy, the success of Barbie and his life as a dad, before the interviewer asked: “What’s the one role you’d like to do over?” His answer was La La Land, but not for a reason that anybody would have thought. Why Ryan Gosling would re-do La La Land, given the chance Of course, La La Land was a hugely successful film, and the chemistry between Ryan and Emma Stone really brought a bit of magic to the movie musical. However, there’s one thing about it that Ryan said still “haunts” him. During the dance scene for the song A Lovely Night, that actually inspired the film’s poster, there was a moment where the choreography required both actors to put their hands in the air. …

Ryan Gosling Avoids Darker Roles So He Can Be a Better Papi

In his review for Ryan Gosling’s new film The Fall Guy, Vanity Fair’s Richard Lawson notes that the actor’s first post-Barbie role shows Gosling “still leading with his light side.” And thank goodness for that. “This is the better form of Gosling,” writes Lawson, “mesmerizing as some of his grim, laconic performances have been.” According to Gosling, it’s also an intentional move, as he recently told the Wall Street Journal. At present, said Gosling, “I don’t really take roles that are going to put me in some kind of dark place.” Instead, he chooses roles by “trying to read the room at home and feel like what is going to be best for all of us. The decisions I make, I make them with Eva, and we make them with our family in mind first.” Eva, of course, is Eva Mendes, Gosling’s costar in the 2012 drama The Place Beyond the Pines. They share two daughters, 9-year-old Esmeralda and 8-year-old Amada, who call him “Papi,” he confirmed: “It kills me every time. There’s just nothing, …

The Cine Files: from Ryan Gosling’s Fall Guy to Anya Taylor-Joy’s Furiosa, the best films at the cinema in May

The only thing certain in life? Death, of course. We quip about it quite readily, but the subject isn’t so easy to broach when it’s all too real and close to home. To coincide with Dying Matters Awareness Week (May 6 to 12), here are two extremely personal and rather beautiful films that offer a fresh perspective on popping your clogs. Much Ado About Dying (May 3) follows Simon Spencer as he cares for his effervescently eccentric, gay actor uncle David in his twilight years. Living in a deathtrap house of clutter, chaos and mouse droppings, David defiantly and flamboyantly recites Shakespeare while Simon worries, fixes and tries to make life better for his uncle as misfortune and disaster strikes. If you never thought it’s possible to die with a smile on your face, seeing David plough on cheerfully right up until the end might well change your mind. A whole different kettle of fish is Red Herring (May 3), as director Kit Vincent who was diagnosed with a brain tumour aged 24. “Will you …

Ryan Gosling Gets Candid About How Being A Dad Has Affected Which Roles He Says Yes To

Ryan Gosling has claimed that he always has his family in mind when selecting roles these days. The three-time Oscar nominee is a dad to two daughters, nine-year-old Esmeralda Amada and eight-year-old Amanda Lee, who he shares with his long-term partner Eva Mendes. While Ryan has plenty of hard-hitting roles in his back catalogue, including the neo-Nazi drama The Believer and the violent action drama Drive, he’s said that more recently, he’s leaning towards lighter projects, so he can be more present with his family after a day’s shooting is over. “I don’t really take roles that are going to put me in some kind of dark place,” he told WSJ magazine. “This moment is what I feel like trying to read the room at home and feel like what is going to be best for all of us. The decisions I make, I make them with Eva and we make them with our family in mind first.” Ryan claimed this shift began with the musical La La Land, with subsequent projects including the Neil …
