‘You don’t forget as a mother’: the British parents finally reunited with their stillborn babies | Bereavement

As late as the 1990s, healthcare professionals assumed that if a parent saw their stillborn baby or established any kind of connection with them this would only deepen their grief. As a result, thousands of babies were abruptly taken from their parents, denying them the chance to say goodbye. Many were buried in mass graves across the country – but parents were often told different or conflicting stories. Most did not know where their children were laid to rest. Charities such as Brief Lives Remembered, run by Paula Jackson, help bereaved parents find the graves of their stillborn children. Here are some of those parents who were reunited with their lost ones. Michelle and Richard Jones Michelle Jones, 62, delivered a stillborn son, Christopher, in February 1981. She had visited the GP shortly before concerned she could no longer feel him kicking. The GP at the time reassured her that he could detect a heartbeat. ‘Speechless’ woman reunited with engagement ring 54 years after it went missing | UK News

A woman has been reunited with her engagement ring 54 years after it went missing. Marilyn Birch, from Pontardawe in Neath-Port Talbot, told Sky News that it was an “emotional” reunion. Mrs Birch, 76, lost the ring while feeding hay to cattle on the family farm in 1970. After retracing her steps, she could not find the item of jewellery anywhere. Image: Peter and Marilyn Birch. He had called at the farm several times recently to explore the land for its treasures. “He used to show us various coins and bits and pieces he’d find on various parts of the farm,” Mrs Birch added. “And one evening when he was leaving here, I said to him as a joke ‘now, listen now …

The passenger was forced to head back to the Raleigh-Durham International Airport to help the airline team look for Moose. According to a WRAL report, Moose was scheduled to depart with his owner on the same flight out on 26 March. However, he didn’t end up making it on the aircraft. Speaking to WRAL, a representative from Alaska Airlines attributed this to a “misstep in the loading process.” Instead of traveling with the passenger, Moose was kept at the airport overnight and scheduled to fly out the next morning. On Wednesday, the staff took Moose for a walk before his flight. When they returned, Moose refused to go back in his crate. “When it was time to load it into the …

Magpie Molly, dog Peggy could be reunited, Queensland leader suggests

Peggy and Molly are typical best friends. They hang out. Play. Sunbathe. But in one important way, they are an unusual pair: Peggy is a dog, and Molly is a magpie. A couple in Queensland, Australia, rescued Molly in 2020 after she fell from a nest. The magpie — a highly intelligent species that’s part of the crow family — bonded with their Staffordshire terrier, Peggy, and became somewhat of a social media celebrity. Through their Instagram account @peggyandmolly, the couple, Juliette Wells and Reece Mortensen, chronicles the dog and magpie’s daily adventures for 730,000 followers. They also published a book about Peggy and Molly, and sell calendars and postcards featuring the duo. But Peggy and Molly’s rising popularity also attracted the attention of wildlife authorities. Authorities successfully demanded that Molly be surrendered into their care after receiving complaints from members of the public, saying that Wells and Mortensen did not have the proper permits to look after a wild bird. Fans of Peggy and Molly are now mobilizing to get the pair reunited. “Help …

Sir Paul McCartney reunited with ‘stolen’ Hofner guitar after 50 years thanks to search driven by The Lost Bass Project | Ents & Arts News

Sir Paul McCartney has been reunited with his bass guitar, on which he strummed the famous tunes Twist And Shout and She Loves You for The Beatles, after it went missing more than 50 years ago. The Hofner 500/1 bass, which is now estimated to be worth £10m, went missing in 1972. It was allegedly stolen from the back of a van in Notting Hill, London. Its whereabouts were unknown for decades but in 2018 a group intent on tracking down the German-made instrument, The Lost Bass Project, launched a search for it. The pace of the search was initially slow but picked up after worldwide media coverage and soon the project received dozens of leads and hundreds of people willing to help. Receiving the tip-off that it had been stolen, the group – which includes Hofner executive Nick Wass – discovered the violin-shaped bass was allegedly sold to a pub landlord in the Ladbroke Grove area. The project suspected it had remained in the landlord’s family. More on Sir Paul Mccartney After numerous TV …

LONDON — For decades, the fate of Paul McCartney’s bass guitar baffled the music world. McCartney, it added, “is incredibly grateful to all those involved.” Organizers of the crowdsourcing endeavor, known as the Lost Bass Project that was set up in 2018 to find the missing instrument, said they were “thrilled” by the news and “proud that we played a major role” in its rediscovery. “It has been a dream since 2018 that it could be done. Former Beatles member says ‘incredibly grateful to all those involved’ after search to find instrument stolen in 1972. The global search is over. Iconic Beatles member Paul McCartney has been reunited with his 1961 Hofner bass guitar, stolen more than half a century ago, according to a statement posted on the British musician’s official website. The statement said on Thursday Hofner and McCartney had authenticated the violin-shaped instrument and that the performer was “incredibly grateful to all those involved”. The bass had reportedly been the band member’s favourite and was used throughout the “Beatlemania” decade, including at Hamburg’s Top Ten Club and on early recordings at London’s Abbey Road studios. McCartney used it to record global hits such as Love Me Do, She Loves You and Twist and Shout. The bass was last seen publicly at about the time when the Beatles were recording 1970’s Let It Be, their final studio album, before being stolen in 1972 from a van used to transport equipment. “The bass is complete and still with its original case,” The …
