Horror Studio Blumhouse Partners With Meta to Use Its AI Video Generator

Blumhouse goes AI. Speak No Evil A major horror movie studio seems to be turning into a bit of an industry horror show. The 3 Most Devastating Ways Partners Gaslight You

The 3 Most Devastating Ways Partners Gaslight You

As a therapist, I frequently hear painful stories from clients who are grappling with the confusing and often subtle dynamics of gaslighting in their relationships. Gaslighting, a form of emotional manipulation, is designed to make someone question their perception of reality. It’s insidious because it can be so gradual and covert that you don’t even realize it’s happening—until your sense of self is deeply damaged. Below are the three most common ways relationship partners gaslight each other, drawn from real-life counseling experiences. 1. Denying Your Reality: “That Never Happened” Esther, a 32-year-old marketing professional, came into therapy because her once-loving relationship with Matt had turned toxic. “I would bring up things he said or did—things I know happened,” Esther whispered. “But every time, he’d look at me like I was crazy. He’d say, ‘I never said that,’ or ‘You’re imagining things.’” Over time, Esther began questioning her memory, often apologizing for things she wasn’t even sure she did wrong. This form of gaslighting involves outright denial of facts. Matt’s constant refutation of Esther’s experiences slowly …

BMW partners with Redwood Materials for EV battery recycling

BMW partners with Redwood Materials for EV battery recycling

Battery recycling specialist Redwood Materials has just gained another major automaker as a client, signing a partnership with BMW of North America. Redwood will help recover and recycle end of life lithium-ion cells and their rare materials from BMW Group marques like MINI and Rolls-Royce. Today’s latest partnership announcement only helps solidify Redwood Materials’ current status as the industry leader in battery recycling. The company, founded in 2017 by Tesla co-founder and former CTO JB Straubel, has found quick success in creating a more circular economy around lithium-ion batteries and their precious materials, such as cobalt, copper, lithium, and nickel. In the past few years especially, Redwood has earned the business of several major OEMs, including Ford, Volkswagen Group, and Volvo. In turn, Redwood has recycled those brand’s batteries and resold their materials and components to companies like Panasonic and Toyota for a new life in EVs. The company is quite good at what it does, too. In 2023, it was touting 95% efficiency in a battery recycling pilot, which helped it garner huge government …

AI SPAC iLearningEngines Plunges 55% After Hindenburg Alleges “Artificial Partners And Artificial Revenue”

AI SPAC iLearningEngines Plunges 55% After Hindenburg Alleges “Artificial Partners And Artificial Revenue”

Shares of SPAC iLearningEngines, Inc. are down more than 50% heading into the cash open after short seller Hindenburg Research alleged that the artificial intelligence company has “artificial partners and artificial revenue”. In the short seller’s second report this week, following its piece on Super Micro Computer, the firm headed by Nathan Anderson said that iLearningEngines “was borderline insolvent when it merged with a desperate SPAC sponsor that was quickly running out of time to get a deal done.” The report focuses on an unnamed “Technology Partner” crucial to AILE’s business, stating “nearly all of company’s revenue and expenses (~96% of revenue and ~100% of CoGs in 2022) seem to be run through an undisclosed related party, an unnamed ‘Technology Partner’.” The company then told the SEC the technology partner was not a related party in a comment letter, Hindenburg says. It alleges that it “unmasked” the partner to be a related party…one which, at one point, shared a listed address with AILE’s CEO’s home residence.  Hindenburg writes: The American contact for “Technology Partner” Experion was listed …

OpenAI partners with Stack Overflow to make models better at coding

Discover how companies are responsibly integrating AI in production. This invite-only event in SF will explore the intersection of technology and business. Find out how you can attend here. A week after partnering with the Financial Times, OpenAI has announced it is teaming up with Stack Overflow – the open platform to discuss and vote on common coding challenges – to improve its models’ ability to handle programming-related tasks. Under the engagement, the terms of which remain undisclosed, OpenAI developers will have access to Stack Overflow’s vetted technical knowledge, code and community to improve the performance of their models. The partnership will also make ChatGPT better at programming, both companies confirmed in a statement. Since ChatGPT has taken the world by storm, Stack Overflow traffic has declined as programmers are using ChatGPT to help them complete code and address questions and issues, reducing the need for Stack Overflow. The development also comes more than a year after Stack Overflow banned ChatGPT-generated code and content on its platform over concerns of inaccurate information hitting the site. …

Investor’s Lawsuit Accuses 777 Partners of $600 Million Fraud

The American investment firm 777 Partners, whose bid to buy the English Premier League soccer team Everton has been on hold for months amid doubts about the company’s finances, was accused by one of its lenders on Friday of running a yearslong fraud scheme worth hundreds of millions of dollars. The accusation came in a lawsuit filed Friday in federal court in New York by Leadenhall Capital Partners, a London-based asset management company. It said that it had provided 777 Partners with more than $600 million in financing, only to discover that roughly $350 million in assets serving as collateral for the loans either were not in 777’s control or had already been pledged to other lenders. The lawsuit is the latest, most serious claim against 777 Partners, which has for years made bold assertions about its financial health — it has previously claimed $10 billion in assets — even as it was trailed by a string of lawsuits, corporate failures and unpaid bills. The suit could have immediate implications for 777’s stalled bid to …
