The following year, Combs and his then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez were with Barrow at a Manhattan nightclub called Club New York. Witnesses said there was a heated argument between Combs and another man, Matthew “Scar” Allen. A scuffle broke out, guns were drawn and three bystanders were injured. At the resulting trial, Barrow was convicted of assault and reckless endangerment while Combs was acquitted of all charges. Barrow spent nine years in maximum security prison. A 19-year-old man has been jailed for 28 years for murdering two men outside a Halifax nightclub. Rashane Douglas, from Huddersfield, stabbed Joshua Clark, 21, and Haidar Shah, 19, outside Maggie’s on Commercial Street on 1 October last year. Douglas also stabbed Brandon Coupe, 18, in the attack, which happened after an earlier row over a woman. He was found not guilty of the attempted murder of Mr Coupe, but was found guilty of wounding with intent and sentenced to six years. Douglas was also given 18 months for possession of a knife with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The sentences will run concurrently. A fire at a popular nightclub in Istanbul, Turkey killed 29 people and injured at least one person Tuesday. Istanbul Governor Davut Gul said the fire at the Masquerade nightclub happened while it was undergoing renovations. Governor Gul said the victims were believed to be involved in the renovations. The nightclub was located on two basement floors of a 16-story residential building in downtown Istanbul. The fire engulfed both floors of the nightclub and had reached the building’s third floor before firefighters brought it under control. Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu told reporters the club’s managers had not applied for a permit to conduct renovations or construction work at the site. At least six people have been detained for questioning in connection with the fire, including club management and one person in charge of the renovations. The fire began at 12:47 local time (0947 GMT), the office said and was only brought under control by firefighters hours later. Television images showed flames and a column of thick smoke rushing from upper-storey windows.
