Loch Ness monster: NASA urged to help as new search begins | UK News

NASA has been asked to help in a new search for the Loch Ness monster. The Loch Ness Centre has urged the space agency to lend its expertise in a fresh hunt for the legendary creature. Last year, one of the biggest searches of Loch Ness in the Highlands concluded with a hydrophone capturing loud underwater noises and several potential sightings. The latest search will take place on the 90th anniversary of Sir Edward Mountain’s expedition from 30 May to 2 June. Since that first expedition in 1934, the Watchers of the Monster, there have been over 1,156 sightings recorded on the official Loch Ness monster register. Image: Loch Ness. Cocktail of the week: Torrish’s Smoky Ness – recipe | Cocktails

This warming cocktail features rich caramel, apple bitters and the smooth notes of good single malt. Topped with a mist of peaty whisky, it makes for a cosy fireside sipper for the crisp evenings still to come before spring finally springs into action. Top it all off with a torched marshmallow, which is always more than welcome in the colder months. Smoky Ness 50ml good single malt whisky – we use Tomatin 12-year-old10ml caramel syrup – we use Monin5 dashes apple bitters1 marshmallow, to finishA little good peaty whisky, to finish – we use Laphroaig 10 (optional) Put the single malt, syrup and apple bitters in a mixing glass and stir to combine. Fill an old fashioned glass or similar with chunky cubes of ice and pour the drink over the top. Put the marshmallow on a cocktail stick or toothpick, stand it upright in the glass, then torch the marshmallow until coloured.
