Woman issues warning after discovering what neighbour was filming her doing in the garden | UK | News

Everyone has an expectation of privacy in their own home. But for one mum she discovered this had been “violated” after her neighbour’s CCTV camera was angled directly into her back garden.  The anonymous Mumsnet user said she was left stunned when she mistakenly found out that the house next door had been recording her garden and hot tub. Her post on Mumsnet prompted a flurry of concerned responses from fellow posters. It read: “I found this out by accident, I don’t think I was ever meant to know. Anyway, I knew my neighbour had CCTV installed, and recently found out that it covers all of my driveway and a lot of my garden. “I’ve even heard/seen the camera swivel when I was in the hot tub! Pretty sure that’s not allowed. But I’ve more recently found out, that their CCTV also records sound, even the teeniest noise is picked up. “On a rare day off, I’ve had what I thought were private conversations with friends in the top corner of my garden, when everyone …

Bitter neighbour boundary dispute been settled in court

Bitter neighbour boundary dispute been settled in court

A bitter neighbour boundary dispute has been settled in court – after raging for DECADES. The row between two warring pensioners revolves around a quarter of an acre of disputed territory – with both parties saying it has cost them tens of thousands and affected their mental health. Angela Coupe, 70, claims she first bought 1.5 acres of land in 1972, a five minute drive from her detached bungalow in Chesterfield, which she used for horses in 1974. She built a wooden post along a concrete boundary which she said had been there since the 1930s. The retired social worker and former Marie Curie nurse said she was “horrified” when she caught her neighbour Ian Revell, 66, and his late father moving the posts in her field in the mid 1990s and approached them. She claims that she is entitled to 1.5 acres, and that the Revell family sold a quarter of an acre in 1945, leaving them with 0.77 of an acre. However, Mr Revell has refused to budge and hit back at her …

Neighbour told to pay £20k in court row over confiscated football

Chaim Adler (right) is accused of ‘snarling’ and mocking his parents Esther and Zavy Adler’s neighbours – Champion News A father must pay £20,000 to his neighbours after they sued him following a row over a confiscated football, a court heard. Chaim Adler found his eight-year-old son was left in tears when his neighbours in Golders Green, north London, did not give back a ball he had kicked over the fence. Mr Adler then entered their garden “snarling” at and mocking neighbour Warren Bergson, before returning the next day and trying to push his way into their flat while demanding the ball back “aggressively”. Mr Bergson and his wife Dr Edel McAndrew-Bergson then sued, claiming trespass and harassment, with a judge now awarding £19,800 damages. Judge Stephen Hellman said Mr Adler, 35, a fire alarm company boss, had been provoked by the Bergsons’ actions in not giving back the ball but that he had gone too far. “Chaim Adler’s behaviour was aggressive, humiliating and intimidating,” he said at Mayor’s and City County Court. “This behaviour …

Man who wielded spade at neighbour in threats over noise says they’re now ‘best friends’ | UK | News

A man is now “on best friend terms” with a neighbour he threatened with a spade after becoming agitated over noise.  Leeds Crown Court heard Michael Birch, 58, wielded the gardening implement after becoming angry about sounds he felt were coming from his neighbours in the Chapel Allerton area of Leeds, West Yorks.  On Thursday Robert Galley, for the prosecution, told the court Birch had “made calls or shouted abuse” during a string of incidents between August and September 2022. The Yorkshire Post reports Birch wrote messages saying he would “stab the lot” and that he was “going to go down there and break some legs”.  According to the publication on one occasion Birch was “alleged to have waved a spade” around at the neighbours he believed were the source of his irritation.  The court heard Birch also became aggressive towards a police call handler when he was told noise complaints were not something the force could deal with.  Defending Ryan Wilson said Birch “fully accepts his actions and behaviours” and that they stemmed from “stress that …

The UK seaside village with way less tourists than its cool neighbour | UK | News

As far as seaside towns go Whitby in North Yorkshire has to be up there with the UK’s best. The stunning North Yorkshire coastal resort has such dramatic scenery that it inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the hauntingly beautiful Whitby Abbey and, of course, fish and chips that some say are world beating. But Whitby’s popularity might mean that people are missing out on its cool cousin Sandsend – which is just an eight minute drive up the coast. Originally two villages, Sandsend and East Row, Sandsend really is a picture perfect seaside enclave. Tourism site Yorkshire.com explains more about the cute seaside village. It says: “Just up the delightful Yorkshire Coast from the busier town of Whitby, Sandsend still has the same amazing sandy beach, but is an altogether more peaceful spot, for those looking to get away from the crowds for a while.” It reveals that the village – which is set between Runswick Bay and Whitby – was the birthplace of fishing magnate George Pyman and has a pub and restaurant. The clean, …

Man leaves people ‘crying with laughter’ at perfect revenge on noisy neighbour | UK | News

A man has left people in stitches at his genius revenge on his noise neighbours. In a video captioned “getting my lick back. If I can’t sleep y’all can’t”, he can be seen to grab a table with wheels. He then lifts the four-legged frame over his head and started banging the ceiling with it. Admittedly with little regard for whether or not he scratched the paintwork, the man proceeded to drag the frame along the ceiling, making a terrible scratching sound. TikTok users were left in stitches over the man’s novel tactic. One user said that his ploy had her “wheezing”, while another said it had her “hollering”. A third said: “I wanna do this so bad.” Recognising the pain that can be inflicted by the upstairs neighbour on those below, another TikTok user said: “I am the upstairs neighbour, so I try to be as quiet as I can because I once was the downstairs neighbour.” Elsewhere, more neighbour drama unfolded on Reddit with a young couple renovating their new home and garden …
