Unmasking the Claims of the Antinuclear Movement: Climate, Health, and Energy at the Crossroads
The global population is predicted to reach just above ten billion in the 2080s (United Nations 2024) before it starts to fall, which sets targets for all of us. That is the number we need to feed and provide affordable and reliable energy. We have learned that many of our benefits, which give us a better life than ever, have also come at a cost. Looking at energy production, we have seen that burning fossil fuels brought us prosperity but has come with increased carbon emissions and particulate matter. The former has long-term effects on the climate, and the latter has immense health implications now. Therefore, it is no surprise that we now aim to achieve industrialization’s benefits with as few side effects as possible. The goal is to remove fossil fuels while maintaining their benefits through alternatives that provide similar benefits at a lower cost to our planet and health.
