Porsche and Michelin Team Up to Deliver Wet Performance

In a groundbreaking collaboration, Porsche and Michelin have unveiled the Michelin Pilot Sport S 5, a innovative tire designed specifically for the iconic Porsche 911 GT3 RS. This innovative tire is carefully engineered to deliver unparalleled performance in wet and low-temperature conditions, making it the perfect choice for track enthusiasts who refuse to let inclement weather hinder their passion for driving. The Pilot Sport S 5 is a testament to Porsche and Michelin’s shared commitment to pushing the boundaries of tire technology. By tailoring the tire’s design to the unique demands of the 911 GT3 RS, they have created a product that empowers drivers to extend their driving season into the challenging conditions of spring and autumn. The advanced tread design, featuring four deep central grooves and a high silica content, optimizes water expulsion and enhances resistance to aquaplaning. This ensures that drivers can maintain exceptional levels of grip, stability, and precision, even when faced with treacherous wet circuits. The impact of the Pilot Sport S 5 extends beyond the realm of professional racing. Whether …

The best Easter menus in London for the bank holiday weekend

The best Easter menus in London for the bank holiday weekend

For a much more casual affair, join the From The Ashes team in christening their new home at Five Points Brewing Co. From Friday to Sunday, founders Curtis and Martin will put the spotlight on Scottish Herdwick lamb, staying true to their sustainable practices by using the whole animal. Cooking it asado style over an open fire barbeque, the duo will serve the lamb on grilled flatbreads with lashings of minty chimichurri, while other dishes will include small plates of charred lettuce, thick-cut smoked bacon in ranch dressing and shaved pecorino, and a smoked lamb taco with a parsley, lemon and anchovy sauce. Meanwhile, larger plates will feature pork rib in a barbecue sauce, and a smoked beef bun with adobo mayo and chilli pickles. Plus, on Easter Sunday itself, the pair will serve their version of a Sunday roast – a choice of lamb, half-smoked chicken or smoked beef rump with all the trimmings.  Source link

Michelin just added 10 restaurants to its California guide, nine in L.A.

Michelin just added 10 restaurants to its California guide, nine in L.A.

California diners are awaiting the release of Michelin’s full 2024 guide, but today the global restaurant compendium released another preview of its top restaurants in the state. Out of 10 restaurants newly added to the California guide, nine are located in the Los Angeles area. “I think for me, I’m more proud for the city of Gardena,” said Daniel Son, the chef-owner of new addition Sushi Sonagi. “It’s where my parents immigrated to first, and I feel like it’s my hometown. So I feel like it’s very great for the city and obviously L.A.” After nearly a quarter-century in the restaurant industry, which began with Son bussing tables and washing dishes in his parents’ restaurant, the inclusion of his own sushi bar marks his first Michelin nod. Additions — previously released last December — are highlighted as new and notable picks, though they could also garner the coveted Michelin stars or the award of Bib Gourmand, denoting value. Of the Michelin Guide’s accolades, the most prestigious awards are the star ratings. One signifies “a very …

8 of London’s cheapest Michelin star restaurants

8 of London’s cheapest Michelin star restaurants

London’s food scene has never been short of exceptional restaurants – 80 of which hold Michelin stars.  This February saw nine restaurants in the capital join the roster after the Michelin Great Britain & Ireland Guide 2024 gave a cluster of venues their first one-star accolade, as well as two new two-stars for Gymkhana and Brooklands, and a brand new three-star ranking for chef Brett Graham’s The Ledbury in Notting Hill. When we think of Michelin, one always assumes there’s a hefty price tag. Caroline Baldwin, Deputy Editor of The Caterer, explains that isn’t always the case.  “When it comes to Michelin you’re talking about restaurants using the best produce, hiring the most talented chefs and serving meals in beautiful venues. This will always come at a price, especially in London, and even more so when chefs are being squeezed by similar inflation costs like the rest of us,” she says.  Caroline, an expert in Michelin-starred dining, confirms it’s always worth looking at one-star restaurants if you are in the market for a special meal …

Bray retains Michelin pedigree as South East venues count their foodie stars

Bray retains Michelin pedigree as South East venues count their foodie stars

Chefs and gourmands alike gathered at the Midland Hotel in Manchester on Monday for the Michelin Guide Ceremony 2024, with a new set of Michelin stars handed out to restaurants across the country. Stars are awarded for outstanding performance across five criteria – quality of ingredients; harmony of flavours; mastery of techniques; personality of the chef as expressed through their cuisine; and consistency, both across the entire menu and over time. And while there were no new entries in the South East, all venues across the region retained their existing stars – plus, there are a handful of Green Stars (recognising a commitment to sustainability) and Bib Gourmands (for good quality, good value cooking) to celebrate. Oxfordshire This year saw Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons in Great Milton hang onto its two Michelin stars. Described as having a ‘classic French base’ but with a ‘light, modern touch’, it’s headed up by Raymond Blanc’s protégé, Luke Selby, and also holds a Green Star award. Over in Murcott, the family-run Nut Tree Inn has held its single …

Bristol, Wiltshire & Somerset Holding onto its single Michelin star this year is Bulrush, a Bristol restaurant serving modern Anglo-French cuisine with the odd Japanese or Scandinavian twist. The city is also home to The Clifton, which picked up a Bib Gourmand this week for its locally inspired dishes. Wiltshire can do one better with three single-starred venues …

Michelin star awards 2024: The guide gets it wrong again

Michelin star awards 2024: The guide gets it wrong again

Sign up to IndyEat’s free newsletter for weekly recipes, foodie features and cookbook releases Get our food and drink newsletter for free Another year, another addition to the lofty Michelin Guide. Hosted in Manchester’s suitably grand Midland Hotel, the guide announced 31 new ratings for 2024, including its ninth third star – the first in two years – and six new sustainability-focused green stars, as well as 20 new Bib Gourmands, highlighting great food at moderate prices, which were announced last week. Whether you were clapping (slowly or otherwise), rolling your eyes or, as one fellow food writer told me, “screaming at the TV” as the awards were announced, it can’t be denied that after 124 years, it remains the most important food guide in the world. That’s not to say that every chef covets a star, nor that those without aren’t any good: a restaurant can be perfectly fantastic without one, and just as mediocre with. The criteria have changed innumerably over the past century and in fact still remain deliberately vague. Indeed, you …

Best restaurants for cheap meals in the UK – as chosen by Michelin chefs | UK News

Throughout 2024 we’re asking Michelin-starred chefs to pick their favourite cheap eats – a meal for two for less than £40 – in their part of the UK. We’ll add to this list every week with a new chef… BUCKINGHAMSHIRE Sarah Haywood from the one-star The Coach, in Marlow: “Definitely The Butcher’s Tap and Grill in Marlow (also a Tom Kerridge pub), a great spot to pop in for some pub snacks or a fantastic burger, or for something a little bit special you can choose a cut from the butcher’s counter like a pork tomahawk or T-bone steak. The chefs will cook it exactly how you like it!” CORNWALL Bradley Monk from the award-winning One Fish Street in St Ives: “Roundhouse in Penzance. Joel makes the most incredible focaccia sandwiches at this little spot in Penzance. The lightest focaccia you will try, with just the right level of saltiness. Next is Blas in St Ives. While being well known for their burgers – which are also delicious – it’s the rotisserie chicken I’m recommending. …
