Princess Kate apologises for manipulated royal photo after news agencies pull image

Catherine, Princess of Wales on Monday apologised and admitted to editing an official portrait of her released by the palace, after AFP and other agencies withdrew the image. Issued on: 11/03/2024 – 08:35 3 min Kate, 42, has not been seen in public since attending a Christmas Day church service, and underwent abdominal surgery in January, fuelling speculation about her health, particularly online. Her Kensington Palace office on Sunday sought to dispel rumours by distributing an official photograph said to have been taken by her husband Prince William of her with their three children. But questions quickly emerged of the Mother’s Day portrait of a smiling Kate, casually dressed and seated in a garden chair, surrounded by Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Discrepancies included several inconsistencies, such as Charlotte’s left hand being misaligned with the sleeve of her cardigan and a missing part of her sleeve. The eight-year-old princess’s hair ended abruptly on her shoulder while Kate’s zip was lighter than elsewhere. Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the …

Kate Middleton Mother’s Day Photo Pulled After News Agencies Claim It Was ‘Manipulated’

Kate Middleton‘s absence from the public eye continues to spark speculation.  On Sunday, a portrait of the Princess of Wales, 42, with her three children — Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5 — was shared on Kate and Prince William‘s official Instagram account in honor of Mother’s Day in the U.K.  “Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months,” Kate captioned the photo taken by William. “Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day. C.” However, several photo agencies, including The Associated Press, are now pulling the picture from their sites amid claims that the image was manipulated.  “AP initially published the photo, which was issued by Kensington Palace. But AP later retracted the image because at closer inspection, it appeared the source had manipulated the image in a way that did not meet AP’s photo standards,” AP explained. “The photo shows an inconsistency in the alignment of Princess Charlotte’s left hand.” Kensington Palace has yet to publicly respond to the claims. In January, Kate was admitted to …

News agencies retract photo of Princess Kate over concerns it was manipulated

The Associated Press and other news agencies issued mandatory kill notices on the first photo released in months of Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, citing concerns that the photo was manipulated. The photo, released by Kensington Palace on Sunday, featured the princess surrounded by her three children, while Kate sat in a chair. The photo was credited to Prince William of Wales and was reported to have been taken in Windsor earlier in the week. The photo marked the first time the public got to see the princess since she had abdominal surgery in January.  Her absence from public appearances has led to far-fetched conspiracy theories about her whereabouts and provoked concerns about her wellbeing. The AP initially published the photo but later retracted the image “because at closer inspection, it appeared the source had manipulated the image in a way that did not meet AP’s photo standards,” according to the AP. The AP pointed to an “inconsistency in the alignment of Princess Charlotte’s left hand,” in describing the apparent manipulation. The AP was …

AP says Kate Middleton photo ‘appeared to be manipulated’

After weeks of wild speculation about her health, the state of her marriage and even the collapse of the House of Windsor, Catherine, Princess of Wales, supposedly marked the U.K. Mother’s Day holiday on Sunday by sharing a photo of herself surrounded by her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. But the Associated Press retracted the photo from distribution hours later “because it appeared to be manipulated,” the news agency said. The Times is removing the photo from this story in response. In explaining the decision, the news agency said it “initially published the photo, which was issued by Kensington Palace. Meta will start requiring disclosures for political ads manipulated with AI

Meta will start requiring disclosures for political ads manipulated with AI

In 2024, Meta will begin requiring advertisers running political or issue ads on its platforms to disclose when their ads are “digitally created or altered” through the use of AI. Facebook and Instagram ads about elections, politics and social issues will soon require the extra step, which advertisers will handle when they submit new ads. Advertisers will need to make the disclosures when an ad “contains a photorealistic image or video, or realistic sounding audio” that falls into a handful of categories. Meta’s new rules are designed to rein in deepfakes — digitally manipulated media designed to be misleading. The company will require disclosures on ads that were either created or manipulated to show a person doing or saying something they didn’t. The other special cases requiring disclosures include ads depicting photo-realistic people that don’t exist or events that look realistic but never happened (including altered imagery from real life events) and ads showing “realistic event[s] that allegedly occurred” but that are “not a true image, video, or audio recording of the event. Meta makes …

’Tis the season to be emotionally manipulated: the battle of the Christmas adverts has begun | Christmas

Name: Christmas advert wars. Age: Instigated by John Lewis in 2007. Appearance: As emotionally manipulative as capitalism is allowed to get. Too early. It isn’t too early. It’s November now. Christmas is only seven weeks away. I don’t care. I don’t want to watch Christmas adverts in November. Then my advice to you would be to stop watching television, because this week the floodgates have opened. Well, if that’s what it takes. Wait! Let me tell you what they are first. This year’s Marks & Spencer Christmas advert features celebrities such as Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Queer Eye’s Tan France diligently working hard to give their friends and families the best Christmas ever, to a syrupy piano ballad version of Meat Loaf’s I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That). Sounds like a pretty textbook Christmas ad to me. But wait – Ellis-Bextor then torches a pile of Christmas cards and smashes up an Elf on the Shelf with a baseball bat. Watch the M&S Christmas advert. Really? Yes. The message is: “This Christmas, …
