The off-season means that players are now away on international duty or taking a well deserved break after another gruelling Premier League season. Several Manchester City players are representing their countries over the next few weeks with nations undergoing their final preparations for Euro 2024 in Germany. The tournament kicks off on July 15. Away from the playing staff, there will still be a lot of activity going on at Man City as preparations for the new season will be well underway. Back in 2016, Manchester City’s Under-18s had an exciting attack consisting of Phil Foden, Brahim Diaz and Jadon Sancho. One is already a Champions League winner, and another will follow on Saturday night. Add Felix Nmecha, who graduated from the City Football Academy a year or two later than the more recognisable trio, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, and there will be four City representatives in Saturday’s showpiece at Wembley. Nmecha was released by City in 2021 in order to boost his career prospects, with his progress at Wolfsburg and Dortmund perhaps a sign they could have earned some profit from him. Sancho’s path is well documented, making the leap to Dortmund where he made his name, before an ill-fated move to Manchester United and now a loan move back to Germany. City have profited by around £20m over the course of his post-City career. Nottingham Forest’s Premier League appeal against an imposed four-point penalty will be heard next week. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side could move further clear of the bottom three if, like Everton, there is any sort of reduction when the outcome is made. Forest became the second side to fall foul of the league’s profitability and sustainability rules (PSRs) earlier this year. The Toffees were first and had their initial ten-point deduction cut down to six after an appeal. Forest currently sit just one point above Luton Town in 17th. They are within another point of Everton ahead of an upcoming vital meeting between the two sides. Sean Dyche’s men are still waiting for the outcome of their second set of charges from the league over a two-point sanction imposed for going over he £105million allowed loss-making threshold for the most recent period.
