Perrie Edwards Reveals Son’s Reaction To Seeing Her Madame Tussauds Waxwork

Perrie Edwards has revealed her two-year-old son had a big reaction to seeing her Madame Tussauds waxwork for the first time. During a new interview with Heart Breakfast, presenter Jamie Theakston asked the former Little Mix singer whether she and her co-stars’ wax figures were still on display now the group are on hiatus. “No, no, they’re still there,” Perrie insisted, noting that she took her son Axel – who was born in August 2021 – to the wax museum just a few weeks ago. She recalled: “He was buzzing. He was so excited! Honestly, we walked over and he went, ‘that’s Mamma!’ I went, ‘yeah, what do you think?’.” Perrie and her bandmates’ wax figures are still on display at Madame Tussauds J Hordle / INhouse images However, it seems Axel’s excitement at seeing his mum’s likeness wore off pretty quickly. “Before I could finish my ‘what do you think?,’ he was like, ‘I want to go sit on aunty Leigh-Leigh’s knee’,” she revealed, with Jamie laughing off the “brutal” story. “I was like, …

Sydney Sweeney Delivers Frank Response For Intense Madame Web Backlash

The Immaculate star, who appears as Julia Cornwall in the superhero film, weighed in on the backlash to the critically-panned movie that flopped at the box office, became the subject of memes and was included in jokes by John Mulaney and Jimmy Kimmel during Sunday’s Academy Awards. “I was just hired as an actress in it, so I was just along for the ride for whatever was going to happen,” Sweeney said. “You might have seen me in ‘Anyone But You’ or ‘Euphoria.’ You definitely did not see me in ‘Madame Web,’” she quipped. Dakota Johnson, Sweeney’s Madame Web co-star, recently told Bustle that she isn’t “surprised” by how the reactions to the film went down. “I had never done anything like it before. I probably will never do anything like it again because I don’t make sense in that world. And I know that now,” she said of the movie. She continued, “But sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it’s one thing and then as you’re making it, it becomes …

Dakota Johnson Reacts To Madame Web Being ‘Ripped To Shreds’

Dakota Johnson Reacts To Madame Web Being ‘Ripped To Shreds’

Forget the Glasgow “Willy Wonka” experience and Ryan Gosling at awards season – the viral moment of 2024 that’s closest to our hearts is undoubtedly Dakota Johnson’s Madame Web press tour. While promoting her new film, Dakota has been totally honest and shot from the hip in her own inimitable style throughout – leading to plenty of attention-grabbing moments… including from us: And during a new interview with Bustle, the former Fifty Shades Of Grey star was every bit as candid when it came to the negative reception her latest film has received. “It’s hard for me to fake it. It’s hard for me sometimes to go along with the silliness of doing a press tour,” Dakota began, noting she “can’t take any of it seriously at all”. Asked whether she was “bothered” by some of the “nasty reviews” of Madame Web, she responded: “Unfortunately, I’m not surprised that this has gone down the way it has.” Dakota Johnson in her latest film Madame Web Dakota continued: “It’s so hard to get movies made, and …

Following its cinematic release on Valentine’s Day (14 February), the film was quickly branded an “embarrassing mess” by critics. The Independent’s Clarisse Loughrey argued that it felt like “a desperate comic book misfire that seems embarrassed by its own existence” in her one-star review. It currently sits at an abysmal 12 per cent rating on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes. “Unfortunately, I’m not surprised that this has gone down the way it has,” Johnson, who starred as the movie’s clairvoyant superhero, Cassandra Webb, told Bustle of the movie’s poor reception. “Films are made by a filmmaker and a team of artists around them. You cannot make art based on numbers and algorithms,” she explained. …

Dakota Johnson Is “Not Surprised” ‘Madame Web’ Was a Total Flop

Dakota Johnson Is “Not Surprised” ‘Madame Web’ Was a Total Flop

In the aftermath of Madame Web’s lackluster critical and financial showing, its leading lady can already see the headlines coming: “Like, ‘Dakota Johnson Breaks Her Silence on Madame Web’s Fucking Box Office Failure,’” the actor told Bustle with a laugh in her first major interview since the movie’s debut. “It’s like, No, I’m not breaking any silence. I’m just talking.” And staying true to her candid nature, Johnson didn’t mince words when asked about the “nasty reviews” Sony’s latest superhero film received. “Unfortunately, I’m not surprised that this has gone down the way it has,” she replied. The problem with projects like this—large studio ventures that spring from lucrative intellectual property—is that “decisions are being made by committees, and art does not do well when it’s made by committee,” Johnson explained. “Films are made by a filmmaker and a team of artists around them. You cannot make art based on numbers and algorithms. My feeling has been for a long time that audiences are extremely smart, and executives have started to believe that they’re not. …

Get our free weekly email for all the latest cinematic news from our film critic Clarisse Loughrey Get our The Life Cinematic email for free Sydney Sweeney made a dig at her role in critical flop Madame Web during her opening monologue on Saturday Night Live. The actor, 26, plays Julia Carpenter, aka Spider-Woman, in the panned superhero film, which was released last month to widespread derision from reviewers and audiences alike. As she introduced herself to SNL yesterday evening (2 March), Sweeney namechecked some of her more popular previous roles before taking a quick shot at the maligned movie. “You might have seen me in Anyone But You or Euphoria,” she said, before adding: “ You definitely did not see me in ‘Madame Web.” In a one star review, The Independent’s film critic Clarisse Loughrey described Madame Web as “an $80m (£63m) film with the quality of an unlicensed superhero painted on the side of a carnival ride”, adding that it felt “desperate and seemed embarrassed of itself”. Sweeney is not the only actor …

Dakota Johnson’s 30-minute Madame Web workout revealed

Stay ahead of the trend in fashion and beyond with our free weekly Lifestyle Edit newsletter Stay ahead of the trend in fashion and beyond with our free weekly Lifestyle Edit newsletter Dakota Johnson had to get superhero-ready before her role in the new Marvel movie, Madame Web. To play the female fighter, the 34-year-old actress did a 20 to 45-minute workout crafted by trainer Megan Roup, founder of The Sculpt Society. Roup’s workouts combine multiple forms of exercise, from dance cardio to strength training. Some classes involve equipment, such as ankle weights and sliders, while others focus on using body weight. In conversation with wellness site,Well and Good, Roup detailed the regimen that Johnson performed two to three times a week. According to the fitness mogul, the Fifty Shades of Grey star would train in-person and follow videos online. When Johnson and Roup were together, the Hollywood star would follow a 45-minute full-body workout. Then, when Johnson couldn’t be in person with her trainer, she would follow guided videos (ranging from 20 to 40 …

Yes, Marvel’s Madame Web is a ‘schlocky, janky’ disaster – but Dakota Johnson’s press tour is a joy | Film

Yes, Marvel’s Madame Web is a ‘schlocky, janky’ disaster – but Dakota Johnson’s press tour is a joy | Film

To call Madame Web’s release a disaster would be a wild understatement. Not since Cats has a movie inspired such a combination of terrible reviews (the Guardian has variously described it as “dumb and schlocky”, an “unholy mess” and a “janky rip-off made by people afraid of legal action”) and consumer apathy. The miserable box office performance – by some distance, it has the lowest-grossing opening weekend of any Spidey-adjacent movie made this century – has killed off a potential franchise at birth. It has damaged the careers of anyone who happened to stray near it. It is doomed, always and for ever, to be a Hollywood punchline. But let’s not write off the film completely. Despite numerous critics warning that the film is bad-bad rather than fun-bad, there is always a chance of it becoming a campy, culty sleeper hit in years to come. More immediately, though, Madame Web has at least given us Dakota Johnson’s press tour. For weeks, Johnson – who must have known the state of the film she was promoting, …

Madame Web is beyond abysmal – but it’s the most entertaining superhero film in ages

Madame Web is beyond abysmal – but it’s the most entertaining superhero film in ages

Get our free weekly email for all the latest cinematic news from our film critic Clarisse Loughrey Get our The Life Cinematic email for free It was inevitable that Madame Web would tank. Dakota Johnson as the eponymous psychic, a peripheral character who occasionally pops up in the Spider-Man comic books? It’s not exactly Marvel’s A-list. Throw in the bizarre, sarcastic press tour and a trailer that was openly mocked on social media, and it’s clear they were always going to have a hard time selling this one. And sure enough, the reviews for Madame Web have been damning. The Independent’s Clarisse Loughrey gave it one star, describing the film as “desperate” and “embarrassed of itself”, and likening it to a “pained shrug”. The Guardian likewise awarded it one star, branding it “as dumb and schlocky as the worst of the genre”. It’s true: those looking for a cudgel with which to thrash Madame Web needn’t look far. The whole film, in fact, is made up of cudgels, stacked up into something that only technically …

Dakota Johnson’s Indifference During Madame Web Press Tour Has Elicited Praise

Dakota Johnson’s Indifference During Madame Web Press Tour Has Elicited Praise

By now, it seems most people are aware of Marvel’s newest addition to their studio’s Spider-Verse franchise, “Madame Web,” which premiered on February 14 to less than stellar reviews by both critics and moviegoers alike. Since its debut, the film has flopped with one of the lowest debuts for a movie centered on a Marvel character. The editing of “Madame Web” has been called into question, with many bad reviews noting the cuts between shots being awkward and jarring, along with the CGI not being its best. At the center of “Madame Web” stars Dakota Johnson, who plays a New York City paramedic with clairvoyant powers, and seems to be the only bright spot in the press junket for fans.  Johnson’s nonchalant attitude toward the movie has been making the rounds on social media, with many people finding it funny that even the film’s leading woman isn’t too fussed about the project. However, Johnson’s online praise is quite the opposite of how other actresses were received during press junkets for their respective projects — especially Rachel Zegler.  Dakota Johnson’s …
