Far East Film Festival 2025: Full Winners List

Her Story, Yihui Shao’s feature dramedy that became something of a feminist phenomenon in China, scored another big win by securing the top prize at the 27th Far East Film Festival (FEFF), which concluded Friday night in the northern Italian city of Udine. The film, which grossed almost $100 million at China’s box office and inspired a thousand think pieces about its radical and refreshing themes, received FEFF’s Golden Mulberry Audience Award. Her Story stars Song Jia and Zhong Chuxi, and tells the story of two single women who become neighbors, and despite their contrasting personalities and circumstances, become fast friends. FEFF’s second most coveted audience award, the Silver Mulberry, went to Anselm Chan’s Hong Kong family drama The Last Dance. Like Her Story, The Last Dance was a box office phenomenon in its domestic market, and is currently the highest grossing Hong Kong film of all time. Set during the pandemic, Chan’s film tells the story of a wedding planner who switches careers and gets involved in the funeral business and opens himself up …

The news came after Joann’s announced earlier this year that it was closing all 800 locations around the U.S. The company also noted on its website that right-sizing its “store footprint is a critical part of efforts to ensure the best path forward for Joaan.” “This was a very difficult decision …

Here’s The Full ‘Confirmed’ List Of Celebrity Traitors – With Some Exciting New Names

Celebs like Kate Garraway, Bob Mortimer, and, of course, Stephen Fry have long been pipped as likely members of the upcoming UK Celebrity Traitors. And today, The Mirror has published a list of names they say will appear in the upcoming season. “The team making the show are expecting it to be quite different to the regular version because the celebrities will be less motivated by the prize fund but care far more about how they come across,” The Mirror says a “source” confirmed. But before we share the updated list, though, a word of caution. Having asked the BBC, who will run Celebrity Traitors UK, what they thought of the selection, a spokesperson told HuffPost UK: “The Traitors includes lies and deception, so it would be foolhardy for any Faithful to speculate before the game has begun.” 1) Kate Garraway In March, The Sun suggested Kate had signed a contract for the first UK version of the spin-off. She has previously starred in Strictly Come Dancing and I’m A Celebrity. 2) Stephen Fry The …

Ukraine lays out peacekeeping mission wish list – POLITICO

Ukraine lays out peacekeeping mission wish list – POLITICO

“Ukraine has its vision of the deployment of such forces that will act as security guarantors. All these issues still need to be discussed, agreed upon, and verified at both the political and military levels,” Palisa said. Ukraine also feels that any Western troops sent to Ukraine would be accompanied by extensive air defenses and other protection measures that will also help keep Ukrainians safe. “For example, if a French brigade enters a certain area of territory, even if deployed with a minimum density — for example, three soldiers per kilometer — it will still have to provide air cover. This is a standard of military planning,” Palisa said. A brigade has from 3,000 to 5,000 troops. And that means more air defense systems, electronic warfare capabilities, more coordinated interaction with aviation, protection for any foreign naval forces, reliable logistics and so on. “This is a complex issue that requires careful planning, taking into account many factors. This is what is currently being worked on,” Palisa said. A day after the coalition of the willing …

Mike Waltz Left His Venmo Friends List Public

Mike Waltz Left His Venmo Friends List Public

Many of the accounts appear to belong to local and national politicians and political operatives ranging from US representative Dan Crenshaw of Texas to a former mayor of Deltona, Florida, as well as venture capitalists, defense industry entrepreneurs, and executives like Christian Brose, the president of defense tech giant Anduril. (Crenshaw’s office and Anduril did not respond to requests for comment.) One of the most notable appears to belong to Wiles, one of Trump’s most trusted political advisers. That account’s 182-person friend list includes accounts sharing the names of influential figures like Pam Bondi, the US attorney general, and Hope Hicks, Trump’s former White House communications director. While none of the Venmo transactions for the account listed for Waltz, Wiles, or Barrett were publicly visible, it appears that none of them had opted out of sharing their contact list, allowing their friend lists to remain visible to the public. After WIRED reached out to the White House for comment, both Waltz and Wiles appeared to change their Venmo privacy settings to hide their friend lists. …

As Black History Month ends, a reading list for the rest of the year

As Black History Month ends, a reading list for the rest of the year

(RNS) — I always tell people that, as a college professor, I got to do the two things I loved best in the world — read and talk. One thing I miss most now that I am emerita is the opportunity to prescribe books for students to read. I not only recommended books to my students but had fantasies that they would run out to buy my recommendations and take them to the beach to read in the summer. Several years into teaching I discovered that some of my students were not only buying and reading the books I recommended, but they were sending them and the assigned reading for my courses home to their parents. Some parents actually thanked me at graduation for what they learned from the books their children had sent home.     I especially enjoyed teaching, and recommending, during Black History Month. Beginning as “Negro History Week” in 1926, Black History Month was created by Carter Godwin Woodson, the first African American to receive a Ph.D. in history from Harvard University, …
