iPhone 17 Pro Max Leaks: Rumored Features, Release Date

Recent leaks have sparked widespread discussions about the iPhone 17 Pro Max, hinting at potential design changes and innovative features. While Apple has not confirmed any details, trusted sources suggest the company may be preparing for a significant evolution of its flagship smartphone. Below is an in-depth look at the rumored updates, expected release timeline, and pricing considerations in a new video from Max Tech. Design Overhaul: A Step Toward Innovation? One of the most talked-about rumors centers on a redesigned rear layout for the iPhone 17 Pro. Leaked CAD drawings and renders suggest Apple may move away from its familiar triple-camera module. Instead, the device could feature a larger rear bar, which might house additional components. Among the most intriguing possibilities is the inclusion of a small rear display. This secondary screen could allow users to view notifications, preview camera shots, or even frame selfies. However, no definitive evidence has confirmed this feature yet. Apple has historically taken a cautious approach to design changes, favoring gradual refinements over radical overhauls. Since the iPhone 11 …

Elon Musk Throws Tantrum After Being Exposed by Gamers, Leaks YouTuber’s DMs and Seemingly Takes Away His Checkmark

Elon Musk Throws Tantrum After Being Exposed by Gamers, Leaks YouTuber’s DMs and Seemingly Takes Away His Checkmark

Professional manchild and Tesla billionaire Elon Musk is deeply unhappy that he’s been caught faking clout — and now he’s throwing a tantrum, taking away the toys of other tykes who were mean to him. And no, this isn’t some far-fetched analogy. Earlier this month, Musk compellingly accused of masquerading as a top-level player of the recently released free-to-play action RPG Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2) by paying a skilled gamer to level up a character to the top game’s top echelons. During a January 7 livestream on X-formerly-Twitter, the platform’s owner struggled with the very basics of the game, failing to even reliably click certain UI elements. In other words, there was no chance this was the same gamer who’d been controlling a character that would’ve required many hundreds of hours of grinding to level up. Then the character mysteriously perma-died, sparking conspiracy theories that Musk had killed it due to his own incompetence. Some of the game’s most well-known players mocked his ruse extensively on social media, calling him out for a bizarre …

COP29: Satellites spot methane leaks – but ‘super-emitters’ don’t fix them

COP29: Satellites spot methane leaks – but ‘super-emitters’ don’t fix them

A methane plume at least 4.8 kilometres long billows into the atmosphere south of Tehran, Iran NASA/JPL-Caltech The world has more ways than ever to spot the invisible methane emissions responsible for a third of global warming so far. But according to a report released at the COP29 climate summit, methane “super-emitters” rarely take action when alerted that they are leaking large amounts of the potent greenhouse gas. “We’re not seeing the transparency and the sense of urgency that we require,” says Manfredi Caltagirone, director of the United Nations Environment Programme’s International Methane Emissions Observatory, which recently launched a system that uses satellite data to alert methane emitters about leaks. Methane is the second most important greenhouse gas to address, behind carbon dioxide, and a rising number of countries have promised to slash methane emissions in order to avoid near-term warming. At last year’s COP28 climate summit, many of the world’s largest oil and gas companies also pledged to “eliminate” methane emissions from their operations. Today, a growing number of satellites are beginning to detect …

Amazon Leaks Smaller Mac Mini With M4 and M4 Pro Chips, Two Front USB-C Ports, Up to 64GB of RAM, and More

Amazon has seemingly leaked the rumored next-generation Mac mini ahead of Apple’s announcement this week, revealing several details. Our concept of a smaller Mac mini According to a comparison chart on Amazon’s product listing for the new iMac, the new Mac mini will be available with M4 and M4 Pro chip options, with up to a 14-core CPU and up to a 20-core GPU. In addition, the chart indicates the new Mac mini can be configured with up to 64GB of RAM, which is double the current 32GB limit for unified memory. Storage capacities for the Mac mini will apparently continue to max out at 8TB, like the previous model. The chart includes a very tiny image of the new Mac mini that seemingly confirms the computer will feature two front-facing USB-C ports, as previously rumored. It is possible these could be Thunderbolt 4 ports, but the chart does not specify. And is that a headphone jack on the front right? The image is a little too small and blurry to say for sure. When …

Art Basel Paris Exhibitors Forced to Protect Artworks from Leaks

Art Basel Paris Exhibitors Forced to Protect Artworks from Leaks

On Wednesday morning, the first VIPs queuing up outside the Grand Palais for Art Basel Paris were bathed in sunshine. Inside the historic, glass-covered exhibition hall it was like a greenhouse – hot and sweaty – as the mercury flirted with 80 degrees Fahrenheit. By Thursday afternoon, though, the 124-year-old building was taking on water as heavy rain battered Paris. Several galleries moved fast to prevent the leaks from damaging their paintings. Art Basel said in a statement that it had called in extra art handlers to help the affected exhibitors protect their inventories. “Due to heavy rainfall on the afternoon of Thursday 17 October, several water leaks were reported on the show floor under the nave of the Grand Palais,” a fair spokesperson said. “The Grand Palais’s historic glass roof is prone to minimal leaks in situations of extreme rain. We remain in constant contact with the GrandPalaisRmn, the organisation responsible for the venue, who are determining possible actions. Since the morning of Friday 18 October, roofers are inspecting the Grand Palais’s roof structure to …

Commentary: What recourse do home owners have with persistent water leaks?

Commentary: What recourse do home owners have with persistent water leaks?

LEGISLATIVE REFORMS FOR PROPERTY DEFECTS Homes are one of the most significant economic commitments in a person’s lifetime. Against the growing number of housing developments in land-dense Singapore, the Singapore Academy of Law Building and Construction Sub-Committee recently penned a concept paper suggesting legislative reforms in relation to private residential property defects. It recommends the imposition of a warranty that makes developers and the main contractor liable to original and subsequent homebuyers for property defects. These include structural cracks, fire safety defects and deficient waterproofing. This would mean that the players with “deeper pockets” remain responsible for defects caused by the parties that they had engaged to carry out the works. Another recommendation is to extend the limitation period – the period of time within which a homeowner must bring a claim against the contractor. The usual limitation period is usually six years from the date the project was completed. The Sub-Committee proposes extending the limitation period to 15 years for cases of major defects, while retaining the six-year limitation period for defects related to …

TikTok faces a ban in the US, Tesla profits drop and healthcare data leaks

Welcome, folks, to Week in Review (WiR), TechCrunch’s regular newsletter covering this week’s noteworthy happenings in tech. TikTok’s fate in the U.S. looks uncertain after President Joe Biden signed a bill that included a deadline for ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, to divest itself of TikTok within nine months or face a ban on distributing it in the U.S. Ivan writes about how the impact of TikTok bans in other countries could signal what’s to come stateside. Meanwhile, fallout from the Change Healthcare hack continues. Change, a subsidiary of health insurance giant UnitedHealth, confirmed this week that the ransomware attack targeting it earlier this year resulted in a huge theft of Americans’ private health info, possibly covering “a substantial proportion” of Americans. And Tesla profits dropped 55% as the EV company contends with increased pressure from hybrid carmakers. The automaker’s growth plan is centered around mysterious cheaper EVs scheduled to launch next year — as well as perhaps a robotaxi. But a recall on the Cybertruck for faulty accelerator pedals certainly won’t help in the interim. …
