It was always going to be a great night for vintage fashion with the theme of the Met Gala this year being “The Garden of Time”, inspired by J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same name. It also marked the opening of the Costume Institution’s spring 2024 exhibit, entitled Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. Open to the public this Friday, the exhibition in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art centres around 250 garments and accessories that span over four decades of history, making them too delicate and fragile to ever be worn again. So it came as no surprise that many of fashion’s major houses decided to play on this theme, using both vintage and vintage-inspired creations, as well as upcycled and archival textiles, to dress some of our favourite A-listers on what has become fashion’s most revered night. Kendall Jenner has done it again! The 28-year-old reality star and supermodel proved she’s still the one to beat at fashion’s biggest night as she walked the red carpet at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday for the 2024 Met Gala.  Jenner opted for a never-worn archival piece from Givenchy, which was designed by the late Alexander McQueen. The model is the first person to wear the dress since, according to Vogue, the fall 1999 haute couture look was presented on mannequins and never shown on the runway.  The dress, which features cutouts at the waist, is made of nude and black tulle and features over 100,000 black and brass beads and sequins. The hand embroidery took 500 hours to make, according to the outlet.
