MPs have been warned to take the shocking precaution of having trained security officers present when meeting their own voters, after reports Just Stop Oil is planning on a new campaign of intimidation and home invasions during the General Election. In a letter to MPs this afternoon, the Speaker set out the long list of security precautions that MPs are now encouraged to take up in order to guarantee their safety in the line of duty. Measures include: intruder alarms, personal attack alarms, strengthened windows and doors, security lighting, video monitoring, CCTV, trained security operatives, situational awareness training, use of taxis for security purposes, and social media monitoring. Sir Lindsay said he is now “acutely aware” of the pressure many MPs have been under, not least since the start of the Israel-Hamas war, and the subsequent growing tensions here in Britain.
