More casting details have been announced for the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie. A film based on the Steven Knight’s award-winning BBC drama has been in the pipeline for years, with Cillian Murphy confirming last month that he’d be back in action as Tommy Shelby in a new feature-length story, which is being produced by Netflix. It’s now also been revealed that he’ll be joined in the cast by newcomer Rebecca Ferguson. The Swedish star is best known for her work in films like Dune, The Greatest Showman and the Mission: Impossible series. Rebecca was also nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in the historical drama The White Queen, and more recently appeared in the Apple TV+ series Silo. As pro-Palestinian student protesters took over a building at Columbia University in New York City early Tuesday, one person in the crowd outside stood out — a gray-haired woman who delivered orders to young people helping to barricade a door. “Tie it right to the lock,” she told two masked protesters holding zip ties, according to video posted on social media. The protesters did as they were told, using the ties on a metal table pressed against the door of Hamilton Hall.  “Let’s give them a little cover,” the older woman told the crowd. “Cameras back. Cameras back.” The woman was not a Columbia University student or faculty member. The people of the Canary Islands came out in force to tell the world enough was enough today (April 20). Around 5 percent of the population of Tenerife pulled on yellow t-shirts in reference to the little bird with the same name to call for measures to tackle the overtourism which has blighted the island. Walking through the crowds the frustration at the way the island had lost control was immense, although when I spoke to some of the 50,000 they were clear this was not about telling tourists to “go home” as had previously been reported. “It’s not tourismphobia” a female protester shouted at me when I took a photo of her banner which said tourists were “killing” the island.  Portrayed as a battle, the march on the island’s capital was more of a plea. What the locals really want are fewer second homes, projections for nature and limits to new resorts. It was hard not to sympathise with people who are hearing their native language eroded to the point schools are now teaching …
