Boris Johnson’s Ex-Wife Slams ‘Damaging’ Effect Of Rwanda Act

Boris Johnson’s Ex-Wife Slams ‘Damaging’ Effect Of Rwanda Act

Boris Johnson’s ex-wife has cast serious doubt on one of his flagship policies, the controversial plan to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda. The Conservative government, now led by Rishi Sunak, pushed to get the Rwanda bill passed into law – but it comes with major risks. Marina Wheeler KC – currently a workplace harassment adviser to Labour – said on Tuesday that the ongoing legal challenges to the scheme are “of concern”. Channel 4 News’ Cathy Newman asked the barrister if the government’s decision to ignore the courts’ fears around the act damaged the UK’s “reputation of legal probity”. Wheeler said she still thinks the country is a “beacon of legal probity”, but added: “The new [Rwanda] act doesn’t abide by the Supreme Court’s rulings, and I think that is very damaging. “An act that says we should ignore the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights is also very damaging.” The ECHR declared the deportation plan was unlawful in June 2022, and said British judges needed to examine the arguments against it more …

Susanna Reid Skewers Calls For Boris Johnson’s Return

Susanna Reid Skewers Calls For Boris Johnson’s Return

Susanna Reid effortlessly demolished calls for Boris Johnson to return to frontline politics on Tuesday by reminding his supporters about nothing other than partygate. Speaking on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, former Tory MEP David Campbell Bannerman said he would install Johnson as party chairman with a seat in cabinet, and make sure he got elected to parliament at the next general election. He claimed: “He’s a great campaigner and we really are missing that now – we’ve seen that at these disastrous local elections.” “You remember partygate?” Reid interjected. Johnson actually stepped down as an MP days before the Commons privileges committee was set to announce he deliberately misled parliament over partygate when prime minister. But, Campbell Bannerman said the ex-PM was “set up” on that, as Johnson’s keen ally Nadine Dorries claims in her book, The Plot. Reid said: “Sorry, he was set up? Set up by whom?” When the ex-MEP said it was Johnson’s own staff who were setting him up, Reid reminded him: “Boris Johnson was in charge during lockdown, [there was] …

At the same time, House Democrats have aggressively pushed back against MAGA extremism,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar and Minority Whip Katherine Clark said in a joint statement. “We will vote to table …

Carrie Johnson’s wild-haired son Wilf is mini-Boris in father-son snap

Carrie Johnson’s wild-haired son Wilf is mini-Boris in father-son snap

Anyone who has hosted a children’s birthday party will be able to relate to Carrie Johnson, who held a dinosaur-themed celebration for her and Boris Johnson’s four-year-old son Wilf this weekend. Taking to Instagram, Carrie called the day “utter chaos,” before adding: “But we loved it.” In a lengthy caption, the mother-of-three thanked the party suppliers for making her oldest son’s party magical, beginning: “Today we made dreams come true with a monster truck and dinosaur party to celebrate Wilf turning 4.” Carrie continued: “I now need to lie down for a v. long time,” echoing the sentiments of parents across the land who have held a party for their kids and friends. In a carousel of photos, Carrie gave an insight into the special day, even sharing a photo of her husband getting involved in the fun. In a charming photo, Boris looks down into the eyes of his son, with Wilf gazing adoringly back at his father, alongside a giant dress-up dinosaur. Despite Carrie organising a bouncy castle, dress-up characters and an entertainer, …

“An army of Jesus”: Inside Mike Johnson’s come-to-Jesus moment ahead of Ukraine reversal

“An army of Jesus”: Inside Mike Johnson’s come-to-Jesus moment ahead of Ukraine reversal

In the hours before Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said he was willing to lose his speakership to help Ukraine, he met with the evangelical leader of Ukraine’s National Prayer Breakfast, who says he told Johnson they could create “an army of Jesus.” It was Pavlo Unguryan’s third reported meeting with Johnson this year. As one Christian Republican insider asserted after Saturday’s House approval of $61 billion for Ukraine aid, evangelical messaging “definitely tipped” Johnson and House Republicans. U.S. reporting has focused on national-security briefings cracking Johnson’s months of paralysis. But the intel messaging has been consistently dire since Russia invaded. Only in the past several months has “religious freedom” gained momentum as a casus belli, appearing in Ukrainian and U.S. religious media and now embraced by evangelical Republicans. And the religious and intel motivations complement each other. National-security warnings that Ukraine will fall without U.S. aid would take on heightened urgency if Johnson started to see Ukraine as an evangelical redoubt and potential wellspring of missionary action in a godless Europe. One week before Johnson’s …

Boris Johnson’s ‘window of opportunity’ for comeback revealed by author | Politics | News

Boris Johnson may have a “window of opportunity” for a political comeback two years after the next general election, according to a top journalist and author. Tim Shipman, author of new book Out which covers the Brexit years, said those close to Mr Johnson believe the best chance could come at that point. He said if the Tories lose the election and a new leader is failing to turn things around for the party it could spark calls for a return by the former prime minister to take on Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer. Asked about the prospect of a comeback by Mr Johnson, Mr Shipman told GB News: “The people around him would say at the moment he’s making lots of money, he’s very passionate about Ukraine, he’s off doing things he’s interested in, he’s in no rush to return. “I think the scenario in which they imagine that might become a possibility is not straight after the general election or even before it. “But if you get a new leader in who tries …

Speaker Johnson’s Ignominious Betrayal | ZeroHedge

Speaker Johnson’s Ignominious Betrayal | ZeroHedge

Authored by David Stockman via David Stockman’s Contra Corner, Speaker Johnson’s ignominious betrayal of fiscal sanity might well be the death knell for the GOP. He is apparently risking his speakership on behalf of $95 billion of foreign aid boondoggles that Uncle Sam cannot remotely afford, and which actually provide zero benefit to the homeland security of America. And we do mean zero, as in nothing, nichts, nada, nyet and nugatory, as we amplify below. What Johnson’s impending Waterloo means, therefore, is not merely the prospect of another wild and wooly succession battle, but actually that there is no point at all in the preservation of a Republican majority and GOP House Speaker. After all, the Washington GOP has become so infected with neocon warmongers and careerist pols who spend a lifetime basking in the imperial projects and pretensions of the world’s War Capital that apparently the best the House GOP caucus could do when it ejected the previous careerist deep stater from the Speaker’s chair was to tap the dim-witted nincompoop who currently occupies …

Danielle Johnson’s stunning fall from ‘healer’ to eclipse killer

Danielle Johnson’s stunning fall from ‘healer’ to eclipse killer

The medical examiner detailed the events slowly and with painstaking specificity. First, she told Sharonda Cole her daughter had been killed in a predawn car crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Redondo Beach. The young woman’s car had slammed into a tree at more than 100 mph. Cole began to cry. Danielle Johnson, seen in an undated family photo, was an online astrologer and self-described “divine healer.” (Courtesy of Sharonda Cole) But the medical examiner had more painful news: Before the crash, Cole’s granddaughters — one 9 years old, the other 8 months old — had either fallen from or been pushed out of their mother’s car on the 405 Freeway. The baby died at the scene, while her older sister made it to the side of the road and flagged down help. Cole’s heart sunk even further. “Then they told me about Jae — and that was the worst,” Cole said. “They told me she had murdered her boyfriend.” Authorities say Cole’s daughter, Danielle Johnson, fatally stabbed Jaelen Chaney in the heart inside their …
