No Popcorn Throwing at Minecraft Movie

No Popcorn Throwing at Minecraft Movie

Keep your popcorn to yourself. That was Jack Black‘s instruction to moviegoers attending a screening of A Minecraft Movie over the April 11-13 weekend at AMC Century City in L.A. following days of headlines about young moviegoers engaging in rowdy behavior and hurling handfuls of popcorn into the crowd when Black’s character exclaims, “chicken jockey!” As Black entered the auditorium unannounced, he initially disguised his voice when he intoning: “For today’s presentation of A Minecraft Movie, please no throwing popcorn.” When he began speaking in his own voice and was recognized, the crowd went nuts as he waved his main prop from the movie, an axe. “Look what I brought,” he said, eliciting hoots and hollers. Throughout the movie’s opening weekend a week earlier, viral videos captured audiences going wild, throwing food and drinks, and trashing auditoriums. In one video, somebody was even kicked out for holding up a live chicken. Some theaters are issuing warnings, with Cinema United — a trade organization representing thousands of exhibitors across the globe — issuing a memo of …

‘SNL’ Mocks Trump’s Tariff Plan and Mike Myers Returns as Elon Musk

Saturday Night Live didn’t hold back on roasting President Donald Trump‘s sweeping new tariff plan that sent global stocks plunging this week. The NBC sketch comedy show’s latest cold open kicks off with a voice narrating, “On Wednesday, President Trump gave a speech in the Rose Garden announcing his economic vision for America, including tariffs against almost every country we do business with, and like everything else so far in his presidency, it was a total home run. We go now to a presentation of Trump’s historically awesome speech.” The camera then cuts to James Austin Johnson’s Trump giving a speech on the president’s tariff plan. “My favorite word, tariff, which of course is short for terrific idea,” he says. “They’re the backbone of my incredible plan for our economy.” “It’s actually even better than a plan because it’s a series of random numbers,” he continues. “Like the numbers on the computer screen in Severance. No idea what the hell they mean, but I know what the numbers mean, OK? They mean we’re gonna Make …

Nancy Meyers Didn’t Mean to Make ‘The Holiday’ a Holiday Movie

Nancy Meyers Didn’t Mean to Make ‘The Holiday’ a Holiday Movie

If the 2006 movie The Holiday is included on your must-watch holiday movie list, that actually wasn’t Nancy Meyers‘s intention. The writer and director recently revealed on the Hollywood Gold podcast that she “never ever saw it as a holiday movie ever in my life.” “I know it’s called The Holiday because they’re taking a holiday, but it could have been called that if it was in the summer,” she said, adding that she “was a little shocked at how much Christmas was in it” after re-watching it the other day. The rom-com stars Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Jack Black and the late Eli Wallach. It follows movie trailer editor Amanda, who lives in Los Angeles, and journalist Iris, who lives in Surrey, England. The two decide to swap houses for two weeks at Christmas, hoping to forget their troubled love lives, however, love finds them anyway. “I never thought it would be, you know, a movie that you watched during the holidays. … Didn’t think of it that way. I just really wanted …

Box Office: ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ and ‘Dune: Part Two’ Leading Weekend

Kung Fu Panda 4 and Dune: Part Two are still going strong at the box office, with both movies celebrating milestones this weekend. Jack Black Releases Full-Length Cover of “Baby One More Time”

Skadoosh! One week after Jack Black and Kyle Gass’ 20-second clip where they animatedly performed “Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears went viral on multiple platforms, the duo — known together as Tenacious D — have put out a longer recording of the song. Dropped on Black’s social media accounts, the minute-and-a-half-long track is accompanied by a music video that was shot at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles. In the video, Black wears a black and white panda-inspired suit, dances and does karate moves with various members of the Kung Fu Panda cast and crew, including Awkwafina, Bryan Cranston, James Hong, Ke Huy Quan, along with his friend Gass. Kung Fu Panda star Po also makes several appearances. Black, of course, puts his own hard rock spin on the song, a vocal style he came to be known for after his breakout performance in School of Rock. Kate Winslet Recalls Hollywood A-Lister’s ‘Dreadful’ Holiday Audition

Kate Winslet has revealed she almost had a very different A-list co-star in the classic Christmas rom-com The Holiday. The beloved 2006 film is a festive favourite thanks to its all-star cast and heartwarming plot, which follows two women who swap homes over the Christmas holidays and find love on opposite sides of the Atlantic. In the film, movie trailer editor Amanda (Cameron Diaz) falls for book editor Graham (Jude Law) while newspaper columnist Iris (played by Kate) finds a spark with movie score composer Miles (Jack Black). But the Titanic star has revealed that there was another big name in the running to play the role of her on screen brother Graham, which ultimately went to Jude. Speaking during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Kate remembered that Robert Downey Jr. originally auditioned, as did Jimmy himself. “I remember it extremely well, I really do,” said Kate, who had already been cast in her role. “I thought it was just a reading, like a fun reading of the script. Jack Black on Covering Britney Spears Song in ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’

Eight years after the release of the third film in the Kung Fu Panda franchise, Jack Black is back for a fourth go-around — and this time, he is bringing his musical side to the movie. Last week, Black posted a cover of Britney Spears‘ hit song “Baby One More Time” on his social media, showcasing him signing and dancing alongside Kyle Gass, whom he performs with in their band, Tenacious D. The caption simply read, “Tenacious B!” but included a panda emoji, suggesting the song would be a part of Kung Fu Panda 4. At the Los Angeles premiere of the film on Sunday, Black told reporters that the cover is featured in the film’s end credits, and that came about when director Mike Mitchell “said, ‘Hey, we would love to have a Tenacious D song for the end credits’ and I was like, ‘Really? Can we do Britney Spears?’” Black recalled. “He said yeah, and he said, ‘Let’s do ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ for the kung fu aspect of that song,’ …
