Tupac Shakur trial: Defence lawyers investigate possible alternative cause of death | Ents & Arts News

Lawyers for the man suspected of killing rap icon Tupak Shakur are investigating evidence that could show an alternative cause of death. Duane “Keffe D” Davis is the only person still alive who was in the vehicle from which shots were fired in Las Vegas, Nevada, on 7 September 1996. Shakur died from his injuries six days later. And Davis’s lawyers say they have witness information that Shakur was in stable condition after the shooting. They are consulting medical and forensic experts to evaluate potential alternative causes of death. Defence lawyers also want to delay next month’s trial, saying more time is needed for investigative work to ensure Davis gets a fair trial. The motion filed on Friday in a Nevada court provides insight into Davis’ defence, noting that a private investigator has identified witnesses who can testify that he was not at the scene of the 1996 shooting, nor was he in Las Vegas at the time. How victims of PowerSchool’s data breach helped each other investigate ‘massive’ hack

How victims of PowerSchool’s data breach helped each other investigate ‘massive’ hack

On January 7, at 11:10 p.m. in Dubai, Romy Backus received an email from education technology giant PowerSchool notifying her that the school she works at was one of the victims of a data breach that the company discovered on December 28. PowerSchool said hackers had accessed a cloud system that housed a trove of students’ and teachers’ private information, including Social Security numbers, medical information, grades, and other personal data from schools all over the world.  Given that PowerSchool bills itself as the largest provider of cloud-based education software for K-12 schools — some 18,000 schools and more than 60 million students — in North America, the impact could be “massive,” as one tech worker at an affected school told TechCrunch. Sources at school districts impacted by the incident told TechCrunch that hackers accessed “all” their student and teacher historical data stored in their PowerSchool-provided systems.  Backus works at the American School of Dubai, where she manages the school’s PowerSchool SIS system. Schools use this system — the same system that was hacked — …

Banijay UK, the company that makes the programme, on Saturday said it had appointed Lewis Silkin to lead an investigation and called for anyone else wishing to raise concerns to contact the law firm’s team. “Lewis Silkin is a major City law firm with a highly experienced specialist investigations team which has overseen a broad range of high-profile workplace investigations,” it said. “Banijay UK has been impressed by the firm’s rigorous, in-depth, and impartial analysis and reporting.” A spokesperson added: “All information will be handled sensitively, and names of those providing evidence to the team will be kept confidential.” Wallace has been a presenter on the programme since 2005, as well as its spin-offs Celebrity MasterChef and MasterChef: The Professionals. Latest Israel-Hamas war news: Egypt and Israel investigate border ‘shooting incident’

Latest Israel-Hamas war news: Egypt and Israel investigate border ‘shooting incident’

Egypt’s armed forces said it was investigating a shooting incident in the Rafah border area Monday that killed a member of its security forces — underscoring the risk of spillover from the Gaza war and putting further strain on Cairo’s relations with Israel. The Israel Defense Forces confirmed a “shooting incident at the Egyptian border” and said it was also investigating. “A dialogue is underway with the Egyptians,” the IDF added in a statement. Neither Egypt nor Israel said who opened fire first. A former Egyptian official told The Washington Post that details of the incident could be outlined by a joint committee as early as Tuesday, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive issue. Before Oct. 7, Egyptian and Hamas border authorities each managed their respective sides of the Rafah crossing, which sits along the Philadelphi Corridor, a no man’s land approximately nine miles long and several hundred yards wide that stretches from the southernmost tip of Gaza to the Mediterranean Sea. Israeli troops have returned to Rafah in recent weeks …

Police investigate Laurence Fox ‘upskirting’ tweet | England

Police are investigating a social media post by Laurence Fox in relation to an “upskirting offence”. The tweet, posted on Tuesday, featured a compromising image of Narinder Kaur, a broadcaster on Good Morning Britain and GB News. The post remained on Fox’s account until it was deleted on Thursday. Posting on X, Kaur confirmed that it was now “a police matter” and said the image was “unimaginably mortifying” as she thanked people on the social media platform for their support. “I know people are saying not to feel embarrassed and mortified but I am. I’m so incredibly upset that people are looking at my privates and laughing. It’s unimaginably mortifying,” she said. A friend of the presenter told the Mirror: “Narinder has always been vocal about issues she cares about and while she’s endured horrendous backlash before, she never expected to become the target of such vicious attacks.” The friend added: “Narinder deserves better than this. She’s worked tirelessly to make her voice heard in among a male-dominated, increasingly rightwing rhetoric and this setback is …

Issued on: 02/05/2024 – 11:49 1 min The National Assembly, or lower house, unanimously agreed to set up the commission demanded by actor Judith Godreche in a speech to the upper house, the Senate, in February. Both have denied the allegations. All 52 lawmakers present for the vote approved the creation of the commission, watched by Godreche, who was present in the public gallery in the chamber. “It’s time to stop laying out the red carpet for abusers,” said Greens lawmaker Francesca Pasquini. The new commission is to look into “the condition of minors in the various sectors of cinema, television, theatre, fashion and advertising”, as well as that of adults working in them, it said. …

Lawmakers Ask IRS To Investigate Chinese Funding Of Anti-Israel Protests

Authored by Eric Lundrum via American Greatness, On Wednesday, lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives called for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to begin investigating the financial links between China and anti-Israel groups that have been protesting throughout the United States since October 7th. According to the Washington Free Beacon, the request comes from members of the House Ways and Means Committee, who wrote a letter expressing concerns that “foreign adversaries are taking advantage of loopholes to impact American political activity with little-to-no transparency.” One such example is The People’s Forum, a group that organized anti-Israel protests such as public school walkouts in New York City. The group is bankrolled by Neville Roy Singham, a tech mogul with pro-China sympathies, as documented by the New York Times. The People’s Forum urged students to chant anti-Semitic phrases, including “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” which calls for the extermination of all Israelis. Another example is The Energy Foundation, a U.S.-based nonprofit group that focuses primarily on global warming, yet operates mostly out of …

Trump Media CEO begs congressional Republicans to investigate short sellers

Trump Media CEO begs congressional Republicans to investigate short sellers

Trump Media CEO Devin Nunes is begging his former GOP colleagues in Congress to investigate ‘DJT’ short sellers. In the Tuesday letter to Congressmen Jim Jordan (R-OH), Patrick McHenry (R-NC), and other top committee chairs, Nunes asked the House of Representatives to look into allegations of illegal “naked” short selling, a practice where a stock is shorted without borrowing the asset.  “We assess there are strong indications of unlawful manipulation of DJT stock,” Nunes said in the letter, which was filed with federal regulators. “I respectfully request that you open an investigation of anomalous trading of DJT to determine its extent and purpose, and whether any laws including RICO statutes and tax evasion laws were violated.” Nunes previously asked the CEO of the NASDAQ exchange for a crackdown on what he called “potential market manipulation” by major Wall Street players, including Citadel Securities, who did not take the accusations kindly.  Nunes again pointed to Citadel Securities, Virtu, Jane Street and G1 Execution Services in the letter for making over 60% of trades on Trump Media …
