Really?! Council humiliated after painting double yellow lines on a roundabout | UK | News

Brits have been left baffled after a council painted double yellow lines around a roundabout. The bizarre markings were left overnight in Hereford, Herefordshire. Jenni Gough, 76, who lives nearby, said she was “stunned” by the lines in the middle of a grass traffic island on Central Avenue. She said: “When you consider the appalling state of the roads, it’s astonishing to see money wasted on something so pointless as this. Who on earth would think that painting double yellow lines on a roundabout is a good idea? “Even non-drivers would know that. When I saw the lines, I was stunned.” John Dixon, a 40-year-old van driver, said: “Do the people in charge of our roads really think there are drivers parking their cars on roundabouts? It’s madness and just another example of a complete waste of money.” The lines were originally painted in January. They were then removed after Herefordshire Council admitted a contractor had made an “error”. In a statement, the council said: “An error by one of our contractors led to the …

Trump Told Supporters to Ignore Nevada’s Primary; They Humiliated Haley Anyway

Trump Told Supporters to Ignore Nevada’s Primary; They Humiliated Haley Anyway

By Tim Reid and Alexandra Ulmer (Reuters) – Donald Trump told his supporters not to bother with Tuesday’s Nevada primary because he was not on the ballot, but nearly 44,000 Republicans cast votes anyway to deliver a stinging rebuke to Nikki Haley. Even though Haley, Trump’s last remaining rival for the Republican presidential nomination, was the only major candidate on Tuesday’s primary ballot, she lost in a landslide to ballots marked “none of these candidates.” It was a humiliating defeat for the former United Nations ambassador and a powerful indicator of the feverish commitment to the former U.S. president by his followers, Nevada Republican Party members and strategists said on Wednesday. “Everybody knows Trump’s supporters are loyal,” said John Ashbrook, a Republican strategist who is not affiliated with any campaign this year. “But Nevada’s primary demonstrated they’re also incredibly motivated to vote.” There was no concerted effort by Trump’s team or the state party to get his supporters to vote against Haley in Tuesday’s primary, party leaders and insiders said. “This was simply a message …

Joe Biden comfortably wins Nevada Democratic primary as Nikki Haley humiliated | US | News

Joe Biden has comfortably won Nevada’s Democratic primary as widely expected. The president, 81, was up against author and motivational speaker Marianne Williamson, who also ran in 2020, and entrepreneur Gabriel Cornejo. Biden’s victory comes days after he won South Carolina’s first-in-the-South Democratic primary with 96.2 percent of the vote. The incumbent president was expected to win Tuesday’s contest, which saw low turnout as voters were confused about the brand new primary system that replaced the decades-old caucuses. The night has not gone as smoothly for Nikki Haley, unrivalled by absent Donald Trump in the Republican Primary. Haley lost to ‘None of These Candidates’ by a huge margin, with the race called after just 50 percent of the votes were counted. Pro-Trump Republicans were expected to turn out and vote against Haley in the ballot – and this appears to have materialized. READ MORE: ‘Angry’ locals skip Nevada vote as Haley and Biden fail to inspire Tuesday began with lower-than-expected voter turnout. In Washoe County, the state’s second-largest county by population, only 183 people voted in the firt two …

Ron DeSantis, humiliated in defeat, returns to Florida a bigger threat

Ron DeSantis, humiliated in defeat, returns to Florida a bigger threat

Donald Trump stands astride his Republican Party like a Colossus. With his primary wins in Iowa and New Hampshire – and soon in South Carolina – the 2024 Republican presidential nomination is basically his. On his road to victory, Trump easily vanquished Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a “rival” to Trump’s control over the Republican Party who was elevated to that position by the mainstream news media and so-called traditional conservatives. But DeSantis’s threat to Trump, which is also true of former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, was very much exaggerated and mostly a creation of the news media and DC beltway political consultant class. After all, why would Republican and MAGA voters want pretenders when they can have the real thing? DeSantis can generously be described as having an odd personality, strained interpersonal skills, and in total a lack of charisma. Possessing one of those traits would be difficult for an otherwise gifted politician in the age of TV and 24/7 news media spectacle to overcome. DeSantis was cursed with all three. When DeSantis announced that …

Prince Harry humiliated after selfie with Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe | Royal | News

Prince Harry’s team were left with their heads in their hands after he took a selfie with a “lunatic” at an awards show, a royal commentator has claimed. The Duke of Sussex attended the Living Legends of Aviation Awards Show in Los Angeles last Friday. The event was hosted by John Travolta and other attendees included Jeff Bezos, director Catherine Hardwick, Miss Teen California Taliya Peiris and artist Mimi Stuart. Harry decided to take a selfie with Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe, who claims to be a distant cousin of the Royal Family. The head of his German family, Prince Alexander of Schaumburg-Lippe, has warned the Duke to stay away from the controversial Mario-Max, who was once dubbed the “King of Trash TV” and was a contestant on German Big Brother. He tried to alert Harry that he “cannot stoop lower” than appearing beside the TV shopping channel host in public, adding: “I would advise him to stay away from this man.” Charlotte Griffiths, the Mail on Sunday’s editor-at-large, called Harry’s attendance “sad”. She said: “It was …

Humza Yousaf left stunned after Laura Kuenssberg tears apart SNP government’s record | Politics | News

Humza Yousaf left stunned after Laura Kuenssberg tears apart SNP government’s record | Politics | News

Humza Yousaf was left stunned after Laura Kuenssberg subjected him to a brutal assessment of both his government’s failings, and the reality of his Scottish independence dreams. Mr Yousaf sat down with the BBC interviewer, after a bruising week for the SNP that saw them embroiled in the Post office scandal and exposed for deleting vital WhatsApp messages from during the pandemic. Ms Kuenssberg demanded to know whether Mr Yousaf accepts he’s not going to get another independence referendum. She listed all the failed independence promises given to voters by the SNP in recent years. “You promised it to voters in 2017, didn’t happen; in 2019 you promised again, it didn’t happen; in 2022, the Supreme Court said you don’t have the power to make it happen again. “Do you accept independence and another referendum are just not going to happen anytime soon?” Mr Yousaf stumbled over his answer, saying he doesn’t accept the BBC star’s observation. He argued the SNP have to win the general election in Scotland to create the political conditions for …

Bernie Sanders Says ‘Humiliated’ Trump Could Destroy Democracy

Bernie Sanders Says ‘Humiliated’ Trump Could Destroy Democracy

Senator Bernie Sanders (Independent, Vermont) thinks Donald Trump’s personal vendettas could lead to the collapse of American democracy. Sanders told The Guardian he believes the “bitter” and “humiliated” ex-president would be more vindictive than ever, if elected for a second term later this year. “He’s made that clear,” Sanders said in an interview published on Saturday. “There’s a lot of personal bitterness, he’s a bitter man, having gone through four indictments, humiliated, he’s going to take it out on his enemies.” With the stakes that high, the senator said it was essential “to explain to the American people what that means to them ― what the collapse of American democracy will mean to all of us.” While Sanders said he thinks another Trump presidency would be catastrophic for the country, he told The Guardian he could see why Trump’s strongman persona spoke to so many Americans. Sen. Bernie Sanders speaks during a hearing in Washington, D.C., last October. He called former president Donald Trump a “bitter” and “humiliated” man in an interview with The Guardian. …

Humza Yousaf forced into humiliating u-turn on XL Bully ban | Politics | News

The SNP has finally caved in and admitted defeat over the XL Bully debate, performing a humiliating U-turn and announcing a ban. This afternoon, First Minister Humza Yousaf confirmed Scotland would replicate England’s ban on the dangerous breed following widespread concerns that owners of Bully XLs were dumping them in Scotland following the ban’s introduction south of the border. Speaking at Holyrood, Mr Yousaf the legislation will replicate that of England and Wales. He said: “What has become clear in the last few weeks I’m afraid, is a flow of XL Bully dogs coming to Scotland, a number of people coming to Scotland to bring XL Bully dogs here to the country. “As such, we will in essence replicate the legislation that is in England and Wales, here in Scotland. “Because ultimately although we do have a very good system of dog control and notice schemes and we do take the approach of deed and not breed, we have to respond to the situation as it currently stands and therefore we will do what we …

SNP attack over Post Office scandal blown apart by one simple fact | Politics | News

Stephen Flynn’s latest attack on Westminster quickly fell apart after he tried using the Post Office scandal to drive a wedge between Scotland and the UK. Yesterday, Mr Flynn used his PMQs question to claim “sub-postmasters never stood a chance against the Westminster establishment”. He told the Commons: “The Horizon system introduced by Tony Blair – the former Labour Party leader and now a Knight of the Garter; a Horizon system defended by the current leader of the Liberal Democrats – himself a Knight Batchelor; a Horizon scandal overseen by a former Conservative Prime Minister who now hides in the House of Lords as a Baron. “The reality is sub-postmasters never stood a chance against the Westminster establishment, did they?” After Mr Sunak batted away the SNP leader’s claims, Mr Flynn stood back up and claimed Mr Sunak “doesn’t quite get it”. “This isn’t just ‘a plague on all their houses’, this is a plague on this house itself – because injustice goes far beyond just the sub-postmasters. “Just ask the WASPI women, or the …

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry humiliated by Golden Globes host with savage joke | Royal | News

“Harry and Meghan Markle got paid millions for doing absolutely nothing,” Koy said, adding: “And that’s just by Netflix. This came after former Suit co-stars, Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht, discussed the possibilty of Meghan returning to the show. It has previously been reported that the Duchess is in “advanced talks” over a massive TV comeback as character Rachel Zane. When pushed to say whether Meghan would appear in any Suits projects, Adams said: “Sure. Mike and Rachel in Seattle. They gotta come down to L.A., they gotta fix some stuff.” “She’s pretty popular right now,” Adams added, to which the ET interviewer then replied: “I don’t know why?” Adams responed: “Did you hear about Meghan? I’ll tell you later. There’s been a lot of stuff going on.” Meghan was not present when the Suits cast had a mini reunion on the stage at the Golden Globes when they presented an award. Also on the red carpet, Suits star Gina Torres revealed that Meghan is not involved in the “insane” texting group during a …
