Trump Supporters Horrified as the Value of Their “Truth Social” Stock Evaporates

Trump Supporters Horrified as the Value of Their “Truth Social” Stock Evaporates

“Sick of MY investment money being stolen!!” The Decline Investors who poured their hard-earned cash into former president Donald Trump’s Truth Social meme stock — while ignoring an astronomical number of red flags — are experiencing a rude awakening. As the Washington Post reports, Trump supporters are seething as the value of the social media platform’s parent company Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) continues to plummet (it’s fallen an astonishing 16 percent just since markets opened this morning.) “Sick of MY investment money being stolen!!” one user wrote in a Truth Social post, as quoted by WaPo, accusing Wall Street of unfairly shorting the stock. “They’re stealing peoples [sic] money and you’re allowing it!!” Scamtown Ever since the company merged with a blank check acquisition company, effectively allowing the far-right social media platform to be publicly traded, shares have been in freefall, wiping out any initial gains. The latest plunge comes after TMTG announced it was planning to issue millions of additional shares. As of this morning, shares have fallen well below $30, significantly less than …

User Horrified When Glassdoor, a Site for Trashing Your Boss, Starts Adding Real Names

User Horrified When Glassdoor, a Site for Trashing Your Boss, Starts Adding Real Names

Glassdoor’s whole pitch has always been to anonymously trash talk their employers — but the site has now updated its policies and begun adding real names without consent, sparking outrage among users. As Ars Technica reports, one Glassdoor user discovered this unfortunate change while trying to get her own information taken down. Upon hearing about a real-name policy enacted since the company acquired the LinkedIn competitor Fishbowl, which requires user verification, Monica — a pseudonym Ars used to protect her identity — began looking into deleting her account or getting her information taken down to protect her real identity. Monica contacted Glassdoor support, and was shocked to find that instead of helping her get her information down, the company populated her account with her real name instead, even though she repeatedly asked its customer support employees to do the exact opposite. Deleting one’s account, Monica learned, will not result in reviews or identifying information being taken down. The only way to do that is a takedown request, which Glassdoor support told her could take up to …

Advertisers Horrified by Under Armour’s AI-Generated Commercial

Advertisers Horrified by Under Armour’s AI-Generated Commercial

“This whole thing is soulless.” Bad Sport American sportswear brand Under Armour has come under fire for releasing an “AI-powered ad” that recycled footage made for previous commercials without giving full credit, TechCrunch reports, raising concern over whether the AI technology was being used to paper over the contributions made by human artists. The one-minute commercial, which features British boxer Anthony Joshua in a black and white, fast-cutting montage, was shared on social media by Joshua, Under Armour, and director Wes Walker. In an Instagram post, Walker called it the “world’s first AI-powered sports commercial,” and he claims it mixes human-created footage and visual effects with “AI video, AI photo… and advances in AI voiceover.” It’s impressively edited, but it’s also obvious when the ad’s switching between grittier human photography and weirdly smooth AI images. “We’re in the future — defining the next phase of cinema is an active experiment,” Walker said. Beneath the Surface Though Walker claims that art in the AI age will still belong to the creatives, it turns out that he …

Pamela Anderson Says Her Sons Were ‘Horrified’ Over Her ‘Natural’ Progression

Pamela Anderson Says Her Sons Were ‘Horrified’ Over Her ‘Natural’ Progression

Pamela Anderson seems done with living up to the male gaze. The Baywatch star made headlines in September when she decided to ditch the signature look with which she’d become synonymous over the years, and attend Paris Fashion Week without makeup. Anderson attends the Vivienne Westwood Womenswear Spring/Summer 2024 show as part of Paris Fashion Week in September. Arnold Jerocki via Getty Images In an interview with fashion and lifestyle outlet Highsnobiety that was published last week, the former Playboy model said that her decision to go makeup-free has been a part of her “healing experience” and noted that she now uses a “more natural” beauty routine. She also shared how the choice to get rid of her glam team made those closest to her, including her two sons, Brandon Thomas and Dylan Jagger, nervous. “My boys were like, ‘Mom, you must have a glam team,’” Pamela said. “And my agents were like, ‘You have to have a glam team! Where’s the stylist?’ I go, ‘I know how to put a dress on myself. I …

Man Running AI-Powered Porn Site Horrified by What Users Are Asking For

Man Running AI-Powered Porn Site Horrified by What Users Are Asking For

“I hope they don’t actually want to see the things they’re typing in.” Dodgy Prompts In the early 2000s, Steven “Lightspeed” Jones operated a collection of porn websites, netting him half a million dollars a month. Those revenues quickly started drying up with the emergence of free, ad-supported porn streaming websites like Pornhub. But as the Washington Post reports, thanks to the advent of AI porn engines, Jones has found a way to jump back into the industry. Perhaps unsurprisingly, though, he’s found that his new site offering customers an easy way to generate porn images using AI gets into extremely dicey territory — which seemingly came as a shock to Jones. “I see certain things people type in, and I just hope to God they’re trying to test the model, like we are,” he told WaPo. “I hope they don’t actually want to see the things they’re typing in.” Porn in the Age of AI Jones, who’s still only breaking even with his AI porn “dream girl” venture, is struggling to keep customers from …

Students Horrified When Error Message Appears on Vending Machine, Revealing Something Dark

Students Horrified When Error Message Appears on Vending Machine, Revealing Something Dark

It’s watching you. Facing the Facts Students at the University of Waterloo in Canada were disturbed when they accidentally discovered that the vending machines on campus had a hidden feature that they felt invaded their privacy, reports CTV News — an eerie tale on how surveillance tech has crept its way into all kinds of “smart” appliances. On its surface, the M&M-branded machines seemed as innocuous as any other snack dispenser. Then, out of the blue last month, an error window appeared on their screens, referring to a facial recognition application that the students had no idea about. SquidKid47 via Reddit “We wouldn’t have known if it weren’t for the application error. There’s no warning here,” River Stanley, a senior UWaterloo student who investigated the vending machine for the campus newspaper, told CTV News. Unsettled by the idea of potentially being spied on, Stanley added that many students began to cover the tiny camera of the vending machines with chewing gum and sticky notes. Low Profiler The vending machines are manufactured by a company called …

A grim find led to a worse end: the case of two missing men that horrified Sydney | Australia news

It began when some blood-covered clothes, a phone, watch and wallet were discovered in a skip in the beachside suburb of Cronulla in Sydney’s south on Wednesday morning. A day after announcing that the find had raised “grave concerns” for two missing men in a relationship, New South Wales police charged one of their own constables – a former partner of one of the men – with two counts of murder. Ballistic tests showed he had used a force-issued handgun, police alleged. They believe he then hired a white van to dispose of their bodies. Beau Lamarre, 28, turned himself in to colleagues at a local police station and was charged with the murder of Jesse Baird – his ex-boyfriend and a former Channel Ten presenter – and Baird’s new partner, 29-year-old Qantas flight attendant Luke Davies. But police said Lamarre had not assisted them as they sought more information. The bodies of Baird and Davies had not been found by Friday evening, as Lamarre appeared in court for the first time. The selfie-enthused former …

Here’s What Actors Are Actually Snorting In Drug Scenes ― And We’re Horrified

We’ve written before at HuffPost UK about how actors aren’t really smoking cigarettes during on-screen smoking scenes. Instead, they’re puffing on “prop cigarettes” ― herbal, nicotine-free versions of ciggies. But what about when actors have to pretend to indulge in something a little harder? Well, recently Sofia Vergara ― who stars in Netflix’s Griselda, a drama about a Columbian drug lord ― shared with AP Entertainment how actors fake indulging in a little booger sugar. What do actors snort in cocaine scenes? “Pretend cocaine? I learned how to snort it with Andrés Baiz, the director [of Griselda],” Sofia revealed. “He was very helpful for me because I didn’t know how to smoke either. So he would come to my house and, you know, I wanted to make it real,” she added. “I wanted to be not thinking about it while I was acting so I also wanted to do it before I would get to the set.” But to avoid going overboard from “method” to “illegal,” they didn’t use the real thing. Instead, they opted …

Plane Passengers Horrified as Maggots Rain Down from Luggage Compartment

Plane Passengers Horrified as Maggots Rain Down from Luggage Compartment

“She was just trying to kind of fight off these maggots.” Maggot High Club What’s the deal with all these gross plane incidents? That’s been an overwhelming theme in 2024 as airline foibles — including a door literally blowing off of a Boeing 737 mid-flight and a man dying aboard a Lufthansa after bleeding out from his mouth and nose — continue to make headlines. Now, we have another to add to the list less than two months into the year: a woman being barraged with maggots on a Delta flight from Amsterdam to Detroit, which as a Michigan Fox affiliate reports was rerouted back to its Dutch takeoff location after the grody debacle. Phillip Schote, the woman’s Netherlands-born fellow passenger who now lives in Iowa, told Fox 2 that he was shocked when he looked across the aisle to see her covered in at least a dozen squirming bugs. “She was freaking out,” Schotte said. “She was just trying to kind of fight off these maggots.” Carrion Compartment To make things even more horrifying, flight …
