Nigel Farage gives biggest hint yet that he might not run in election | Politics | News

Nigel Farage has given the biggest hint yet that he won’t return to frontline British politics in time for the next general election. The Reform UK founder, Farage, has said the United States president vote is more important than the United Kingdom vote. According to The Telegraph, Farage has spent the past week in the United States instead of campaigning for Reform. He downplayed the prospect of running as a candidate in the general election. He said: “Yes, we’ve got an election year, but the biggest election in the world is taking place here. While I’m not ruling out anything in the UK completely, I think where I am this week is an indication of my thinking.” The news that Farage might have bowed out of the election could be a boost to Rishi Sunak as it could end months of speculation about whether Farage would stand against the Conservatives. Farage, the former UKIP and Brexit Party leader, played a significant role in getting David Cameron to agree to holding the Brexit referendum. It was …

Local Elections Hint At Challenges Posed By Smaller Parties

Local Elections Hint At Challenges Posed By Smaller Parties

Labour leader Keir Starmer speaking in Blackpool this morning after the party’s by-election victory (Alamy) 5 min read1 hr The local election performances of both the Green Party and Reform could give an indication of electoral challenges to come for Labour and the Conservatives into the general election and beyond, electoral experts have suggested. Council and mayoral results are due to come in throughout Friday, with a full idea of the picture across the country not likely to be available until later in the weekend.  The Conservatives appear to be on track to lose hundreds of seats across the contests, while Labour, the Liberal Democrats, the Greens and independent candidates have all been making gains.  Following the first tranche of figures through Friday morning, pollsters have suggested that these local elections have given a hint of the challenges to come for both Rishi Sunak as he tries to keep Conservative losses at bay, and Keir Starmer, as he looks set to gain a majority at the next General election. As well as the …

Lee Anderson drops huge hint about Nigel Farage’s eagerly awaited political comeback | Politics | News

With a general election just months away, Lee Anderson, Reform UK’s only MP, has offered a coy response when asked whether Brexit architect Nigel Farage is planning a return to the political area – while admitting such a move would be a “massive boost” for his party. And the member for Ashfield – who quit the Tories in February in the wake of the row over controversial remarks about London Mayor Sadiq Khan – claimed both the Tories and Labour would be anxious at the prospect of a Farage comeback. Mr Anderson was complimentary about Mr Farage even before defecting, favourably comparing him to Richard Tice, Reform’s current leader, whom he at the time branded a “pound shop” version of the ex-UKP and Brexit Party leader. Speaking today as the scale of Tory losses in yesterday’s council elections became clear, he told GB News: “I keep getting asked the question Is he coming back? I don’t know. It’s up to Nigel. “We have spoken to him about it, but he is keeping his cards close …

These 8 ‘Bluey’ episodes could hint at what’s next for the show

After the release of a trifecta of episodes of “Bluey,” fans of the Australian children’s TV show about a family of blue heeler dogs are speculating about what’s next for the characters and the series. The popular show, which follows Bluey, her sister Bingo and parents Bandit (Dave McCormack) and Chilli (Melanie Zanetti), was propelled into the pop-culture zeitgeist last month, starting with the release of “Ghostbasket” on April 7, in which viewers learned that the Heelers’ house was for sale. A week later, the special 28-minute “The Sign” — the longest “Bluey” episode ever — revealed more details about this shocking plot twist. We learn that Bandit has accepted a new job that requires the Heelers to move, saying it’s so the family can have a better life. “I don’t want a better life,” Bluey exclaims. The episode featured a wedding, a pregnancy reveal and a last-minute decision by the family to stay in Brisbane. An additional episode, aptly titled “Surprise,” was announced just hours before it ran on April 21. In the final …

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s huge new move ‘drops big hint’ about future in UK | Royal | News

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have dropped a huge hint about their future ties with the UK. The Sussexes’ latest big move is to hire PR guru Charlie Gipson as their communications executive. Mr Gipson is UK-based which could signal that the pair have no intentions of cutting future ties with Britain. The new hire also shows that Harry and Meghan are keen to continue and improve relations with the British public. Charlie will spearhead the role of Director of Communications and be the go-to for British media enquiries. Kyle Boulia has been brought on board as Deputy Press Secretary and Director of Communications for US media, joining the Sussex’s expanding team. Miranda Barbot is now VP of programs and media operations and Ashley Hansen will continue to oversee communications for the couple’s Archewell Foundation. The Prince and Duchess stepped back from royal duties four years ago amid escalating tensions with The Firm – escaping to their new home in Montecito, California, with their two children Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two. Lego Fortnite teasers hint at farming

Two short clips released by Lego Fortnite on Twitter have hinted at a pair of much-requested features – farming and animal taming. The first clip focuses on a new line of dialogue from one of the game’s characters, Hayseed: “The local animals seem really interested in the village. I wonder if they want to live with us…”  followed by a shot of the player character, dressed as a farmer, leaping for joy. We then see the player petting a sheep, which happily follows them towards a farm. Lee Anderson backs Nigel Farage for bombshell comeback after biggest hint yet | Politics | News

Lee Anderson said he would be “absolutely delighted” if Nigel Farage made a comeback after the Brexit architect dropped his strongest hint yet. The former Ukip and Brexit Party leader, who has been at the centre of ongoing speculation over his political future, said there is a “historic opportunity to really change things”. Speaking to the Express today as he kicked off Reform’s Blackpool South by-election campaign, Mr Anderson said: “Nigel Farage is very popular wherever you go in the country. He’s got the old rock star appeal, I think Boris had that. “Look if he came back into frontline politics I’d be absolutely delighted. It would certainly make my job easier to be re-elected. “It would give the people of this country – the normal, decent, hard-working people that are looking for an alternative – a bit of a lift as well and encourage people to come out and vote whenever the election is.” Mr Anderson unveiled Mark Butcher, who founded the Amazing Grace soup kitchen for the homeless, as Reform’s candidate for the …

Ancient canoes hint at bustling trade in Mediterranean 7000 years ago

Ancient canoes hint at bustling trade in Mediterranean 7000 years ago

The canoes are up to 10 metres long and made from hollowed out trees Gibaja et al., 2024, PLOS ONE, CC-BY 4.0 More than 7000 years ago, skilled craftspeople constructed wooden canoes that probably transported people, animals and goods across the Mediterranean Sea. Scientists have identified five boats with signs of advanced seafaring technology, such as transverse reinforcements and towing accessories. Found in a freshwater lake, the canoes – which have been somewhat of an inadvertent secret for decades – probably enabled trade and transportation among Mediterranean farming communities during the Neolithic period, says Niccolò Mazzucco at the University of Pisa in Italy. Along with the well-preserved village they were found in, the canoes “open a window to the past”, he says. In 1989, Italian researchers discovered the site – which they named La Marmotta – buried under a lake located 38 kilometres upstream from the western coast of the Mediterranean Sea, slightly north-west of Rome. In addition to multiple wooden buildings, they found dugout canoes built from trees that had been hollowed by burning …

Will Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin have kids together? Her dad Don Johnson once gave a hint

Save for some cheeky or endearing comments here and there, Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson have rarely given insight into their relationship, and keep it largely out of the public eye. The pair started dating in 2017 after the Coldplay frontman’s conscious uncoupling from ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow in 2014, and if anything it’s the Goop founder who has given the most insight into her ex’s relationship, as well as her own loving friendship with the Madame Web actress. So while the two have rightfully hesitated to share more intimate details about their relationship – fans have long speculated they’re already at least engaged, if not married, though they’ve never confirmed it – that’s not to say those close to them haven’t given a hint or two in the past about what the future holds for them. WATCH: Gwyneth Paltrow shares rare details of friendship with Dakota Johnson Back in 2021, Dakota’s dad Don Johnson – who was married to her mom Melanie Griffith once in 1976 and then again from 1989 to 1996 – teased …
