Matty Healy Doesn’t Seem to Be Down Bad (Or Really At All) After Taylor Swift Releases Tortured Poets Department

Matty Healy Doesn’t Seem to Be Down Bad (Or Really At All) After Taylor Swift Releases Tortured Poets Department

Matty Healy has emerged, and he doesn’t appear to be too outwardly tortured following the release of Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department, no matter what the album says. Healy, the frontman for The 1975 and co-conspirator in a short-lived public romantic entanglement with Swift in the late spring of 2023, appears to be the subject of several of the 31 songs on the double album Swift released last Friday. Many references seem to point at Healy and the public discourse around their relationship, and some visuals, musical motifs, and title stylings also echo previous releases from Healy’s band, such as the openings of Swift’s “imgonnagetyouback” and The 1975’s “Looking For Somebody (To Love).” Healy was spotted Wednesday in Los Angeles by reporters and was asked how he’d “rate” his “diss track” on The Tortured Poets Department. Healy, wearing a navy hoodie with the hood up, sweatpants, a white tank top, and a black backpack (ergonomically legit, both straps on the shoulders), appears at first to be bewildered in the clip. “My diss track?” he …

Matty Healy reacts to Taylor Swift’s ‘diss track’ | Ents & Arts News

Matty Healy has reacted to new tracks by supposed ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift that are rumoured to be about him. The 1975 frontman is never named in any tracks featuring on Swift’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department, but fans have assumed several references are about him. Her fans, commonly referred to as Swifties, have suggested the song The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived appears to allude to Healy “ghosting” her – when someone ends a relationship suddenly and with no communication or explanation. “You tried to buy some pills, from a friend of mine, they just ghosted you, now you know what it feels like”. She also sings: “And I don’t even want you back, I just want to know if rusting my sparkling summer was the goal?” – with Swift and Healy rumoured to be dating during the summer of 2023 Many have also interpreted the lyrics of other songs to make reference to their romance. In the first song on the album, Fortnight, she sings: “And I love you, it’s ruining my life, …

Matty Healy Breaks Silence On Taylor Swift’s New Album

Matty Healy Breaks Silence On Taylor Swift’s New Album

“I want you to rate your Taylor diss track compared to the 30 others,” the photographer requested, prompting a confused response from the British singer. “Taylor’s new song,” the pap then clarified, prompting a laugh from Matty. He then insisted: “I haven’t really listened to that much of it. But I’m sure it’s good.” Songs on The Tortured Poets Department including lead single Fortnight, Fresh Out The Slammer and The Black Dog are widely believed to be inspired by Matty – but he isn’t the only one who appears to have been referenced on the 31-track album. Stand-out track So Long London is thought to be inspired by Taylor’s break-up from her ex of six years, British actor Joe Alwyn, while thanK you aIMee alludes to her long-standing feud with reality star Kim Kardashian. Earlier this week, the Official Charts Company revealed that Taylor is on track to occupy the top three slots in this week’s singles chart, with Fortnight, The Tortured Poets Department and So Long London tipped for positions one, two and three, …

Taylor Swift’s Ex Matty Healy Reacts to ‘Tortured Poets Department’ Songs

Matty Healy isn’t feeling tortured over Taylor Swift‘s new music. On Wednesday, paparazzi asked The 1975 singer how he feels about the “diss track” on Swift’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department, and he had a surprising response. “I haven’t really listened to that much of it,” he said, “but I’m sure it’s good.” Since the release of TTPD, fans have speculated that several songs on the album are about Healy. That was a surprise to many Swifties, given that the singers were only romantically linked for about a month following Swift’s six-year relationship with Joe Alwyn. The title track of Swift’s album is believed to be about Healy. In the song, Swift sings, “You left your typewriter at my apartment / Straight from the tortured poets department / I think some things I never say / Like, ‘Who uses a typewriter anyway?’” That line points to Healy thanks to a past video interview he did with GQ, during which he said, “It’s not that there’s any kind of like, romance to having a notebook, but I really …

Taylor Swift’s Ex Matty Healy Talks His Love of Typewriters in Resurfaced Clip After ‘Tortured Poets’ Release

Taylor Swift’s Ex Matty Healy Talks His Love of Typewriters in Resurfaced Clip After ‘Tortured Poets’ Release

In the wake of  Taylor Swift‘s The Tortured Poets Department album release, Matty Healy has found himself squarely in the crosshairs of Swifties everywhere.  With fans speculating that several of Swift’s more brutal new songs were inspired by her romance with the singer, a new clip has resurfaced that indicates an apparent link between Healy and Swift’s Tortured title track.  “It’s not that there’s any kind of like, romance to having a notebook, but I really like typewriters, as well,” he says in an throwback clip, re-posted by GQ on TikTok over the weekend. “I don’t have one with me because that is really impractical, but the thing is with typewriters and writing on pen to paper, there’s kind of an element of like commitment that goes with the ceremony of it. Therefore, it requires you to concentrate a bit better.” Then, flipping through his own notebook, Healy chuckles at the contents inside.  “It’s mainly, like, stories that I write about my dreams of being in love with other pop stars,” he shares.  “Just gonna leave this here,” the outlet …

Taylor Swift Really Seems to Have a Lot to Say About Matty Healy on The Tortured Poets Department

Taylor Swift Really Seems to Have a Lot to Say About Matty Healy on The Tortured Poets Department

In the lead-up to Taylor Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, released on Friday, the moody imagery and morose snippets of lyrics sprinkled across the internet (“I love you, it’s ruining my life,” for one) made it pretty clear that Joe Alwyn, Swift’s longest public relationship, would not escape the departmental summit unscathed. It was a surprise to many, then, just how much ink Swift spilled seemingly in reference to her brief relationship with The 1975 front man, Matty Healy, on the double album. On the album’s title track, Swift sings about a lover who leaves a typewriter at her apartment: “I think some things I never say, / Like, ‘Who uses typewriters anyway?’” Anyone can get a typewriter, but that’s just the first hint that the song is about Healy. In a 2018 interview with GQ, Healy spoke about his penchant for typewriters, saying, “The thing with typewriters and writing, putting pen to paper, there’s kind of an element of commitment that goes with the ceremony of it.” He said he preferred the …

Taylor Swift takes aim at Kim Kardashian and Matty Healy, sings about Travis Kelce as she drops SECOND surprise album

Taylor Swift takes aim at Kim Kardashian and Matty Healy, sings about Travis Kelce as she drops SECOND surprise album

Two hours after The Tortured Poets Department was released, Taylor Swift shocked fans when she dropped another 15 tracks, completing the “anthology” and offering up tracks that took aim at Kim Kardashian and her family, as well as singing about Travis Kelce.  “It’s a 2am surprise: The Tortured Poets Department is a secret DOUBLE album,” Taylor shared on social media. “I’d written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you, so here’s the second installment of TTPD: The Anthology. 15 extra songs. And now the story isn’t mine anymore… it’s all yours.”  The extra 15 songs included four of the bonus tracks that were supposed to only be available on limited edition CDs and vinyls as well as 11 extra songs, one of which was called ‘thanK you aIMee’.  The capitalized words spelled out the name Kim and the lyrics hinted at Taylor’s long-running feud with the reality star and businesswoman.  “Everyone knows that my mother is a saintly woman,  but she used to say she wished that you …

Malaysia bans The 1975 after Matty Healy defies anti-LGBTQ+ laws with stage kiss | LGBTQ+ rights

A three-day music festival in Malaysia has been cut short after the lead singer of the 1975 criticised the country’s anti-LGBTQ+ laws on stage. The British band, fronted by Matty Healy, were performing at the Good Vibes festival in Kuala Lumpur on Friday. While on stage, Healy criticised the Malaysian government’s position on LGBTQ+ rights and said the band had made a mistake in deciding to perform in the country. It was reported by officials on Saturday that the group was now banned from Malaysia. “I made a mistake,” Healy said on stage in a video recorded by a fan in the crowd. “When we were booking shows, I wasn’t looking into it. I don’t see the fucking point, right. “I do not see the point of inviting the 1975 to a country and then telling us who we can have sex with.” Healy then went on to kiss his bandmate, Ross MacDonald, on stage. The band’s performance came to an end after officials ordered them off stage. As they walked off, Healy said: “All …
