Aptera’s first solar EV production body arrives at its headquarters

Aptera Motors is touting its latest milestone en route to solar EV production later this year. The first production body of its flagship vehicle has made its way over from Italy to Aptera’s headquarters in San Diego, enabling the team to finalize its design ahead of production-intent builds. It’s been almost two weeks since our latest Aptera Motors update, so we figured you readers were due for some news. No, production is not yet underway, sorry. However, it’s one step closer! As we reported at the beginning of the month, Aptera has been gearing up for production-intent solar EV builds at its California headquarters and across the pond with its supply partner CPC Group in Italy. According to co-CEO Chris Anthony at the time, Aptera’s first production body structure had successfully been bonded together and was making its way to Carlsbad, California, to be finalized with several key solar EV components. As anticipated, the production-intent body has made its way safely to Aptera’s headquarters, and the solar EV startup shared some fun images of the …

US Navy Veteran Who Feds Say Rammed FBI Headquarters Had QAnon-Linked Online Presence

A former Navy submarine technician was arrested after law enforcement says he drove an SUV into the FBI headquarters near Atlanta on Monday afternoon. It is still unclear why the suspect, Ervin Lee Bolling, attempted to force entry to the headquarters, but research by Advance Democracy, a non-partisan, non-profit organization that conducts public-interest research, and shared exclusively with WIRED, has found that accounts believed to be associated with Bolling shared numerous conspiracy theories on social media platforms, including on X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook. Just after noon on Monday, Bolling rammed his burnt orange SUV with South Carolina license plates into the final barrier at FBI Atlanta’s headquarters, Matthew Upshaw, an FBI agent assigned to the Atlanta office wrote in a sworn affidavit on Tuesday. Upshaw added that after Bolling crashed the SUV, he left the car and tried to follow an FBI employee into the secure parking lot When agents instructed Bolling to sit on a curb, he refused and tried again to enter the premises. The affidavit also stated that Bolling resisted arrest …

Unitarian Universalists’ Boston headquarters hosts temporary overflow shelter

Unitarian Universalists’ Boston headquarters hosts temporary overflow shelter

(RNS) — Headquartered in a South Boston building in the city’s affluent Seaport District, the Unitarian Universalist Association happened to have a vacant sixth floor last summer just as Massachusetts’ governor declared a state of emergency to deal with the state’s rapidly growing migrant population. The association, home base for more than 1,000 UU congregations across the U.S., has long supported the human rights of migrants and refugees, and earlier in the year, they had heard from some member congregations that had been wanting to host temporary shelters. Using their sixth floor as a makeshift shelter, the staff quickly agreed, was a no-brainer. On March 7, the 10,000-square-foot commercial space opened as an overnight shelter for homeless families with children and any pregnant person in need. Up to 80 people can be housed at the shelter, which features a kitchenette, a nursing and health station and open spaces filled with rows of green cots. Many of those currently at the shelter are migrants who had previously been sleeping at Logan Airport. The temporary shelter is approved …

Swedish Flag Raised Over NATO Headquarters

Swedish Flag Raised Over NATO Headquarters

The Swedish flag was raised for the first time over NATO headquarters in Brussels Monday ahead of the formal ceremony welcoming the Nordic country as the 32nd member of the alliance. At a news conference immediately after, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson joined NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in touting a stronger, more unified NATO. “The security situation in our region has not been this serious since the Second World War, and Russia will stay a threat to Euro-Atlantic security for a foreseeable future,” Kristersson said. “It was in this light Sweden applied to join the NATO defense alliance to gain security, but also to provide security.” Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 prompted both Sweden and Finland to seek membership in NATO after years in which both countries maintained military neutrality. Stoltenberg said, once again, that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s goals when he began the invasion have backfired. “He wanted less NATO and more control over his neighbors. He wanted to destroy Ukraine as a sovereign state, but he failed,” Stoltenberg said. “NATO is …

Flag of NATO’s 32nd member, Sweden, raised at alliance’s headquarters | NATO News

NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson preside over flag-raising ceremony in Brussels. Sweden’s flag has been raised at the NATO headquarters in Brussels, marking the country’s entry into the military alliance two years after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg looked on as two soldiers on Monday raised the blue banner emblazoned with a yellow cross among the official circle of national flags at the transatlantic grouping’s offices in the Belgian capital. Ahead of the flag-hoisting ceremony held in the rain, Kristersson said expectations were “high”. “We have chosen you, and you have chosen us. All for one, and one for all,” the prime minister said, adding that his country was a “proud” member and pledging that it would uphold the values enshrined in NATO’s founding Washington Treaty. “The security situation in our region has not been this serious since the Second World War, and Russia will stay a threat to Euro-Atlantic security for a foreseeable future,” Kristersson said. For his part, Stoltenberg …

Map Shows West Coast Has A Headquarters Bubble

Map Shows West Coast Has A Headquarters Bubble

In the latest client note, “The Flow Show: $1 Trillion Every 100 Days,” Bank of America Analyst Michael Hartnett points out how headquarters locations of mega-corporations have shifted around the country over the last three decades. Hartnett first shows a map of the US resized by the market cap of the largest 100 companies in 1994. Notice how most of the companies were based out of New York, Texas, and California.  Three decades later, the wealth concentration of mega-corporations has ballooned on the West Coast (not surprising), with California number one and Washington number two. Meanwhile, New York dropped to number three.  The current distribution of wealth concentration of mega corporations on the West Coast is a bubble. This is because companies are fleeing progressive states, plagued with high taxes and violent crime, for ones like Texas, Arizona, Georgia, and Florida.  “You have a number of companies recently that have relocated to Texas because it’s supposed to be a friendlier climate for business. And it’s suddenly not as friendly as it was,” Anthony Johndrow, cofounder and CEO of consultancy …
