The Hawk Tuah Girl Hasn’t Posted a New Podcast Since Her Crypto Project Imploded

The Hawk Tuah Girl Hasn’t Posted a New Podcast Since Her Crypto Project Imploded

It’s now been six weeks since Haliey “Hawk Tuah” Welch launched her disastrous and allegedly fraudulent meme coin — and in the ensuing firestorm, it’s been exactly that long since she last posted a podcast episode. The expectorating internet sensation‘s most recent podcast episode — ironically titled “HOW TO AVOID GETTING CANCELLED” — was posted to Spotify and YouTube on December 3. Since then, she’s gone dark.   The very next day after that episode was published, the 22-year-old viral vixen launched her “HAWK” meme coin, which crashed spectacularly and immediately in what many believe was some sort of scam. In a single day, the coin’s total worth dropped from $490 million to just $24.6 million, leading to accusations of a pump-and-dump scheme. Though Welch initially insisted on X-formerly-Twitter that the team behind the HAWK coin hadn’t sold any of their tokens, she appeared to change her tune after jilted investors filed suit against her and the coin’s shady promoters. “I take this situation extremely seriously,” she posted on December 20, weeks after the debacle. “I am …

Why the U.S. hasn’t returned to the Moon and what’s next

Why the U.S. hasn’t returned to the Moon and what’s next

In July 1969, the United States achieved a monumental feat in human history when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to set foot on the lunar surface during NASA’s Apollo 11 mission. The Apollo program, driven by intense Cold War competition with the Soviet Union, epitomized technological ingenuity, political will, and substantial financial investment. Over the course of six successful missions between 1969 and 1972, NASA landed 12 astronauts on the moon, conducting extensive scientific experiments and collecting valuable lunar samples. Yet, despite this remarkable success, no human has returned to the moon since 1972. Understanding why requires examining a confluence of technological, political, financial, and international factors. The Apollo program’s roots lie in President John F. Kennedy’s bold 1961 proclamation to land a man on the moon and return him safely to Earth before the decade’s end. The urgency stemmed from the Soviet Union’s early dominance in space exploration, including Yuri Gagarin’s historic orbit of Earth in 1961. Apollo became a matter of national pride and geopolitical strategy, with Congress approving …

Common chemical in drinking water hasn’t been tested for safety

Common chemical in drinking water hasn’t been tested for safety

Millions of US residents may be drinking water containing the potentially harmful compound Yiu Yu Hoi/Getty Images A common disinfectant in drinking water breaks down into a chemical compound that we know almost nothing about, including whether it has any potential toxic health effects to those who drink it. Chlorine has been used to sanitise drinking water for more than a century. However, some drinking water systems in the US, UK and Australia now use another closely related chemical disinfectant called chloramine. That’s because chlorine byproducts were linked to bladder and colon cancer, low birth rates and miscarriage, says … Source link

Despite the short workweek in many locations, the last few days have been crammed with deal announcements and funding news, although it is too early to tell how much was just on hold before the U.S. election. Most interesting startup stories from the week Image Credits:Daniel Harvey Gonzalez (opens in a new window) / Getty Images There are early signs that the U.S. IPO window may reopen, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves; for now, we mostly have IPOs in India, M&As, and not-so-great news. After ups and downs, the buy now, pay later (BNPL) company reportedly saw its valuation rise back to $14.6 billion earlier this year. Decolonising the curriculum hasn’t closed the gap between Black and white students – here’s what might

Decolonising the curriculum hasn’t closed the gap between Black and white students – here’s what might

Students at UK universities are less likely to get a top degree – a first or 2:1 – if they are from an ethnic minority. This is known as the race or ethnicity award gap. It is measured by comparing the proportion of white undergraduates who recieve a top degree with the proportion of students of colour who do so. In 2023, the gap stood at 12.3%. However, this gap varies for UK students from different minority ethnic communities. In 2023 there was a 19.3% difference between the number of white and Black students receiving a first or 2:1. Universities have been taking measures to address this gap. But my research shows that they have been looking at the problem in the wrong way. Current university responses to the race award gap are driven by an assumption that the issue lies in the curriculum. The presumption is that because the knowledge students need to acquire at university is based on a largely white and Eurocentric body of literature or tradition of learning, this favours students …

‘He’s been silly, hasn’t he?’: Welshpool voters on Craig Williams’ election bet | General election 2024

‘He’s been silly, hasn’t he?’: Welshpool voters on Craig Williams’ election bet | General election 2024

They don’t get too many political scandals in Welshpool. Repairs to a canal bridge were the most eye-catching agenda item at the last full town council meeting. But the place was abuzz on Thursday with talk of why on earth its local lad done good, Craig Williams, Rishi Sunak’s closest parliamentary aide, had placed a bet on a July election three days before the prime minister named the date. “He’s been silly, hasn’t he?” said Paul Alexander, who runs a hardware and camping shop on the main street of the mid-Wales town, down the road from Williams’ white-washed constituency office. “It’s not a great look. It feels a bit greedy. He’s risking his political future on a flutter.” Opposite, a woman came out of the Coral betting shop having placed a wager on a horse. “Why didn’t he get someone else to put a bet on for him if it was going to be embarrassing?” she asked. The woman asked not to be named for two reasons: her husband doesn’t realise she bets, and she …

Democrat says Biden hasn’t been clear on Rafah policy

Democrat says Biden hasn’t been clear on Rafah policy

House Armed Services Committee ranking member Adam Smith (D-Wash.) said President Biden and his administration have been clear on their policy around sending weapons to Israel in relation to an invasion of the city of Rafah. “My main criticism of the administration… president right now is they just haven’t been clear on what their policy is,” Smith said on NewsNation’s “The Hill” with anchor Blake Burman Thursday. “It is not the policy of the Biden administration that they’re gonna cut off Israel entirely if they go into Rafah.” On Wednesday, President Biden warned that he would stop giving offensive weapons like bombs and artillery shells to Israel if its forces begin an invasion in Rafah.  “Civilians have been killed in Gaza as a consequence of those bombs and other ways in which they go after population centers,” Biden said to CNN’s Erin Burnett. “I made it clear that if they go into Rafah — they haven’t gone in Rafah yet — if they go into Rafah, I’m not supplying the weapons that have been used …

Why the royal family hasn’t marked Prince Archie’s birthday

Why the royal family hasn’t marked Prince Archie’s birthday

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are celebrating their son, Prince Archie’s fifth birthday on Monday – and while he has an extended royal family, he won’t receive any public birthday wishes from them.  In keeping with tradition, it is likely the young royal’s special day will be marked privately at his family home in Montecito, California, with his parents, sister Princess Lilibet, and his grandmother, Doria Ragland.  You may also likeWATCH: Inside Prince Archie’s family life While it’s become somewhat traditional for key members of the British royal family to share their birthday messages online, senior royals will not publicly wish Prince Archie a happy birthday.  There is a valid explanation, however as they only mark the birthdays of working members of the royal family on their official social media accounts.  HELLO!’s Online Royal Correspondent Danielle Stacey explains: “In recent years and certainly since King Charles III’s reign began in September 2022, we have only seen public messages from the royal family’s social media accounts for working members of the royal family, such as …

Zendaya may be one of the four co-chairs of the 2024 Met Gala, but she and Law Roach are having a procrastination moment less than a week out.
