Baroness Caterina de Renzis Sonnino’s historic Italian castle that inspired Gucci – full tour

Baroness Caterina de Renzis Sonnino’s historic Italian castle that inspired Gucci – full tour

Set amid acres of vines and olives, with vistas over the rolling hills of Italy’s Chianti region, Castello Sonnino has a dreamlike quality. It seems timeless and far removed from the turbulent currents of history. But as its chatelaine Baroness Caterina de Renzis Sonnino tells us, the property has quite a past.  During the Renaissance, it belonged to the Machiavelli family and later it was home to First World War statesman Sidney Sonnino, an architect of both the Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations. However, during much of the last century the castle stood empty, until, in 1987, Caterina and her late husband Baron Alessandro determined to bring it back to life. © Fernanda & Paloma The couple not only carried out a flawless restoration, they also revived Sonnino’s wine-making skills, so that today some of the finest Chiantis hail from here. Above all, they turned the ancient fortress into an idyllic family home. Now, with children Virginia and Leone joining her to welcome us, Caterina reveals proudly: “We are the first Sonnino …

Dua Lipa’s off-duty denim jacket and metallic Gucci bag is a major spring vibe

Dua Lipa’s off-duty denim jacket and metallic Gucci bag is a major spring vibe

Leave it to Dua Lipa to send our spring-style senses into overdrive. The singer, songwriter and style muse just stepped out in a seriously killer ensemble which has made us rethink our seasonal wardrobe switchup.  © GettyRespectfully, I am obsessed Spotted yesterday out and about in Tribeca New York, the Illusion singer swapped out her ‘no pants’ and bodysuit music video look for a tailored dark grey maxi skirt made from suiting material, a structured denim jacket, black knee-high boots, sheer tights, lightly tinted sunglasses and a light-catching silver metallic horse bit bag from Gucci.  Although her stellar ‘fit isn’t on the traditional spring wardrobe guide which usually includes floral prints, brightly hued statements and mesh ballet flats, the way she styled the monotone look is still perfect for spring, likely due to her bold cherry cola hairstyle doing all the heavy lifting.  This is the first time we’ve seen the street style maven out and about for a while, most likely because she’s been in the studio cooking up her third studio album, Radical Optimism, …

The Best Women’s Designer Belts of 2024: Gucci, Chanel, Dior, YSL

Jennifer Aniston has been photographed wearing one. So have Kendall Jenner, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Dakota Johnson, to name a few. We’re talking about the iconic Gucci logo belt. While we hear about statement shoes or the “It” bag of the season, belts don’t get nearly as much love. Hollywood is in on the secret that the best designer belts can instantly elevate your look, whether you’re wearing a tee and jeans or a cocktail dress. They’re also an easy way to accentuate your waist. And as seen on runways and the streets over the last few years, logo mania is still all the rage. Need ideas? Emma Stone, Zendaya, Ryan Gosling, Versace

Emma Stone, Zendaya, Ryan Gosling, Versace

Beyond sending congratulatory bouquets to the 2024 Oscars winners, execs from luxury brands should be doing cartwheels down posh streets this week, if the latest Red Carpet Power Rankings are any indication. The earned-exposure data for the 2024 Oscars by Launchmetrics — in partnership with The Hollywood Reporter throughout this awards season — reveals the largest numbers yet in media-impact value for high-end labels that include Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Tiffany & Co. and others and for the night’s best-dressed stars. The results prove that the Academy Awards, the biggest night in the entertainment industry, also remains the champion of red-carpet dressing opportunities (though the 2024 Golden Globes was hot on its heels). Some of the night’s biggest moments undeniably played a role in the 2024 Oscars numbers, from Emma Stone‘s best actress win to Ryan Gosling‘s Kenergy. The healthy uptick in viewers from last year’s Oscars also can account for a significant portion of the millions of dollars in estimated earned value for the labels seen on the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre, …

Ryan Gosling Wears Gucci Custom Suit to 2024 Oscars

Ryan Gosling Wears Gucci Custom Suit to 2024 Oscars

Ahead of performing “I’m Just Ken” during the Oscars 2024 telecast, Barbie actor Ryan Gosling walked the red carpet on movie’s biggest night wearing a custom black Gucci suit with silver detailing. Gosling is a best supporting actor nominee at the 2024 Oscars for Barbie, while the blockbuster film’s “I’m Just Ken” is nominated for best original song. His custom Gucci look is in black and features silver detailing. The actor, who walked the carpet with his sister Mandi Gosling, paired it with a black shirt which has silver piping. Gosling chose to wear the shirt unbuttoned at the top, opting to go without a tie, let alone a classic bow-tie. (See all the star-studded Oscars red carpet 2024 arrivals.) His grooming was overseen by Lucy Halperin. Gosling’s Oscars 2024 outfit is consistent with looks that Gosling has rocked throughout awards season. For the Golden Globes, SAG Awards, BAFTAs, Directors Guild Awards and Critics Choice, he’s worn a Gucci suit, often custom and donned without a tie, usually with the top buttons of his shirt …

I actually gasped when I saw H&M’s lookalike of the Gucci Kelly bag

I actually gasped when I saw H&M’s lookalike of the Gucci Kelly bag

Dupes, lookalikes, replicas, whatever you call them, they’re all over the high street these days, I don’t need to tell you that. We’re still reeling from the bags we’ve spotted at M&S lately (the lookalike of the Chloe shopper and of course the viral Hermes Kelly bag lookalike!).  But H&M has shocked me to my core with its stunning version of the Gucci Kelly. I’ve had my eye on the Gucci Kelly for a while now – it’s on my wish list for Santa (I know his arrival is a while off, but it’s good to reach out to him early!).  The Jackie 1961 is priced at £2,220 and is no doubt one of the IT bags with the style mavens busy at fashion week right now. In fact, it’s classed as a historical Gucci icon. The recognisable shape is presented in white leather and enhanced with an additional, detachable shoulder strap. You can carry it using the top handle, you can rest it on your shoulder or you can wear it cross body.  But …

Gucci bets on coats to drive sales at Milan fashion week | Gucci

The first look of a collection is a kind of setting out of a stall, and Sabato de Sarno put his love of the coat front and centre, opening his show in Milan on Friday with a simple but elegantly cut short coat, belted at the waist. No bells, very few whistles. But, a personal fan of coats – he reportedly has more than 200 – the Gucci designer wasn’t going to let the coat only speak in whispers, and outerwear ranged from subtle to statement. Overcoats in black and camel were classic on top but salted with sparkle from the waist down; moss green and double-breasted or oversized and navy with subtly statement collars, if that isn’t a paradox. There were leather trenches, in sherbet yellow and pine green, of the kind Anna Wintour is frequently spotted in, pea coats and bombers. Gucci champions extremely short shorts at Milan Fashion Week

Gucci champions extremely short shorts at Milan Fashion Week

Stay ahead of the trend in fashion and beyond with our free weekly Lifestyle Edit newsletter Stay ahead of the trend in fashion and beyond with our free weekly Lifestyle Edit newsletter Hemlines were sky-high at Gucci’s Milan Fashion Week show, solidifying the trend for super short shorts. The opening look of the autumn/winter 2024 collection gave a sneak peek of what was to come, with a model wearing an all-black outfit of a beautifully tailored belted jacket, short shorts and thigh-high boots. Tiny shorts was an ongoing theme – models wore tailored versions in all colours of the rainbow, as well as knitted shorts as part of matching sets and structured playsuits. Once a Noughties mainstay, short shorts have recently been making a fashion comeback – most notably seen in the knitted Miu Miu knitted knickers-cum-shorts that have been storming social media. This was Italian designer Sabato De Sarno’s third collection as creative director of Gucci, and he certainly seems to have found his groove – particularly after the mixed response to his first …

Meet Cora Delaney London’s savviest influencer whisperer

Meet Cora Delaney London’s savviest influencer whisperer

Delaney is now one of the few women leading a top London creative firm. We are meeting in EYC LTD’s office on Charing Cross Road – a blank white space, when I visit, other than a coffee table stacked with Polaroids of the creators that they work with. They outgrew the premises almost as soon as they moved in last year, Delaney tells me. “We were considering a storefront in Soho but this is practical and was ready for us.” It’s an exciting time for EYC LTD. As well as the record label, they’re getting ready for fashion month – the usual mix of parties and placing their talent at shows, she says. In the past that has included one of their early signings, poet and model Kai Isaiah Jamal, walking for Louis Vuitton, the first black trans model to walk for the brand. “We work with a lot of rappers, as well,” she says, “helping arrange for them to be at Paris Fashion Week. I think between musicians and influencers, they’re the ones who’re …

Gucci, Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu

Gucci, Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu

Ask anyone who works in the fashion industry, and they’ll be quick to tell you it’s a competitive, sometimes brutal business — and they wouldn’t dream of doing anything else. Another truism: The creatives behind it outwardly seem to possess spines made of steel, and yet every element of their soul will go into a collection. That was undeniably true on the first day of New York Fashion Week, when Prabal Gurung presented a wholly poetic Fall Winter 2024 collection inspired by personal loss. The Singapore-born Gurung was raised by Nepali parents in Katmandu, and he’s often said that he knew from an early age that he wanted to come to the U.S. and launch his own label; that decision, however, strained his relationship with his father, who died this past November. “I always had a fraught relationship with him, and now I had to go back to Nepal and deal with it,” he told The Hollywood Reporter backstage before the collection’s unveiling. “You know, nobody teaches you how to grieve, nobody talks about it. …
