This dating app green flag guarantees you more matches

[ad_1] When you’re browsing dating apps, what are you normally looking for? Cute photos? Aligning interests? Similar life goals? What about photos with dogs? Apparently, a dating profile picture with a dog in it makes someone more desirable, with a study by Many Pets revealing that more than a third of people claimed to be more attracted to someone with a furry friend in their photo. It was a tactic Jet, 33, used when he was on Tinder, back in the day. “I used to include a photo of myself with the family pug, Ellie, on my profile. She made me look very handsome and it was a good conversation starter. © GettyAre dogs a plus point when it comes to dating? “Some people would start the chat by asking about her or telling me that they loved pugs. She was the perfect ice breaker.” The puppy love doesn’t stop there. Many Pets reports that 86 per cent of people felt that their dog has a positive impact on their dating life, with 31 per …

South West security firm guarantees interviews for ex-military applicants

[ad_1] A fast-growing South West security firm is offering a guaranteed job interview to any ex-service personnel as part of its ongoing commitment to the military community. Avonmouth-based Security 2000 signed the Armed Forces Covenant last year and is opening its doors to any veterans in the Bristol and Bath area for interviews and paid-for Security Industry Authority (SIA) licenses. Since Security 2000 appointed Richard Gabriel as business unit director in June 2023, it has experienced rapid growth and signed its first national contracts.  The company has also slashed its emergency response times to 23 minutes, way below the national average of 60 minutes. In a bid to attract the best staff, Security 2000 has increased pay to well over the real living wage and introduced a suite of technology to afford the very best protection for its staff.  Richard said: “Quite simply, we believe customers deserve better than what the current security industry provides. We are determined to deliver a credible response service and that means attracting and retaining the very best staff. “We are a real living wage employer because we …

Lords Will Focus On Safety Guarantees With Rwanda Amendments

[ad_1] (Alamy) 4 min read1 hr Lords amendments to the government’s flagship Rwanda legislation will focus on a treaty to ensure Rwanda is safe is enacted, and will also seek safety assurances from the UN. The Archbishop of Canterbury is among those who has put his name to a number of proposed amendments to the Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Bill, which came back to the House of Lords on Monday. He has signed on to changes also proposed by Labour peer Baroness Chakrabarti, and Baroness Hale, the former president of the Supreme Court who found Boris Johnson’s prorogation of parliament was unlawful.  Among their suggested changes are revisions that would mean – if they are accepted – “positive UNHCR advice on the safety of Rwanda” should be “laid before Parliament before claims for asylum in the UK may be processed in Rwanda”.  Other amendments, backed by the same trio, would ensure that “proper regard” is given to any interim injunctions from the European Court of Human Rights, and give domestic courts more …

Manchester United say Qatari bidder failed to provide financial guarantees | Manchester United

[ad_1] The Qatari bidder for Manchester United, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, dropped out of the race to buy the club after failing to prove he had sufficient finance for the deal, according to a document submitted to American authorities. In filings made to the US Securities and Exchange Commission to confirm Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of 27.69% of the club, Jassim (referred to as “Bidder A”) is described as having failed to respond to requests to show where his money was coming from. It was also revealed that Ratcliffe issued a Christmas Day deadline for acceptance of his final offer, threatening to walk away if there was no progress. As part of the Schedule 14D‑9 filing, which articulates a business’s response to a takeover offer, United said Bidder A failed repeatedly to submit the “customary financing commitment letters”. After a series of revised and improved bids over the spring of 2023 came without the letters attached, the board of directors at United eventually told Jassim that they would “require sufficient evidence of the financing and …

Chainlink co-founder wants web3 to provide cryptographic guarantees to the world

[ad_1] Welcome back to Chain Reaction, a podcast that interviews newsmakers in crypto to better understand the tech behind the hype and the people working to build a decentralized future. For this week’s episode, Jacquelyn interviewed Sergey Nazarov, co-founder of Chainlink, a protocol that provides an oracle network to power smart contracts. “Oracle networks are really the thing that puts the word ‘smart’ in smart contracts,” Nazarov said. “Smart contracts in and of themselves don’t know what time it is; they don’t have the ability to access any external system […] other than what’s in a blockchain.” Before starting Chainlink, Nazarov co-founded four other businesses, the most recent of which was SmartContract, which also focuses on smart contracts. Chainlink is also known as a web3 services platform that connects people, businesses and data with the world of web3. And for good reason: The platform has enabled over $7 trillion in transaction volume across DeFi, gaming, NFTs and other major industries. When it was launched in 2017, the total value locked (TVL) in the entirety of …
