Scotland’s largest city, Glasgow, has just been named one of the world’s ‘best cities’ in 2024 – despite it being a renowned crime hotspot. Time Out magazine quizzed city-dwellers about the quality of its food, culture and nightlife – and how their home made them feel. Ranked 30th in the table, a Time Out contributor celebrated the “identity and sense of community” that is “infused into its soul”. Whether drawn to its historic landmarks, cultural attractions, or simply the warmth of its people, Glasgow has it all, it says. Although the city has been hailed with a new prestigious and ultimately positive title, it is still known for its high crime rates in Scotland, which regularly dominates news headlines.
