Fortnite back on mobile phones after Epic Games’ row with Google and Apple | Science & Tech News

Fortnite back on mobile phones after Epic Games’ row with Google and Apple | Science & Tech News

Fortnite is back on mobile phones for the first time in four years, after bitter legal rows got the game taken off both Android and Apple app stores.  Now, developer Epic Games has launched its own app store, making it one of the first third-party stores available on iOS – although UK iPhone users will have to wait until next year to play. Android users can get flossing straight away, but they’ll need to download the new Epic Games Store, which also contains Fall Guys and Rocket League. The store’s launch marks the latest chapter in a long-running battle royale between Epic and the tech giants. Epic claimed, in a number of court cases, that both Google and Apple operated anti-competitively. Fortnite was taken off both stores in 2020 when Epic stopped paying commission for its downloads. It lost a court case against Apple where it argued third-party app stores should be allowed on iPhones and other devices. In March, however, a new EU law came into force which meant that Apple had to allow …

Epic Games to Bring Fortnite to iPad in EU After iPadOS ‘Gatekeeper’ Decision

With Apple soon to be required to bring the same EU changes that it made on the iPhone to the iPad, Epic Games today confirmed that it will release Fortnite for the ‌iPad‌ in the future. ‌Epic Games‌ is already working to release an ‌iPhone‌ version of Fortnite in the EU, with the game set to be available from the forthcoming ‌Epic Games‌ Store, an alternative app marketplace. The ‌iPhone‌ version of Fortnite is coming “soon,” and an ‌iPad‌ version will follow “this year.” The European Commission said this morning that iPadOS, the operating system designed to run on the ‌iPad‌, is considered a digital gatekeeper under the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA). Epic Games says it will bring Fortnite to iPad after EU dubs iPadOS a ‘gatekeeper’ under DMA

On the heels of the EU’s decision to designate Apple’s iPadOS as another digital “gatekeeper” under its Digital Markets Act (DMA) regulation, Fortnite maker Epic Games confirmed it will bring its popular battle royale game to the iPad later this year. The company had previously announced Fortnite would return to iPhones in the EU as a result of the DMA, which forces Apple to compete with alternative app stores, like Epic’s Game Store. In a post on X on Monday, Epic Games praised the EU’s decision around the iPad and said that it was moving “full steam ahead” to bring Fortnite to the Epic Games Store in the EU “soon” and iPads later this year. Fortnite Fall Guys leak teases what will be in Epic’s next big collaboration

Fortnite Fall Guys leak teases what will be in Epic’s next big collaboration

Epic Games is lining up a collaboration with, er Epic Games as it seemingly prepares to bring two of its hit games together in the world of the all-conquering Battle Royale. Having already introduced Lego Fortnite and Fortnite Festival alongside its main course, news is rife that the once massive, but has definitely waned a lot, Fall Guys is to come to the Island in an epic (excuse the pun) mashup that could bring a dollop of mayhem and fun with it. Fortnite leakers are understandably all over this and mainline source of information iFireMonkey has posted on X via some of his contacts some of the things we can expect to see. It is only a leak, so you know, pinch of salt, but it is rare that iFireMonkey puts his name to anything without being pretty sure. The best Fortnite leakers have reputations to maintain of course. The post on X reads: “Fall Guys x Fortnite Info VIA Wensoing + Loolo_WRLD There will be a minigame in Battle Royale It will be a …

Lego Fortnite teasers hint at farming

Lego Fortnite teasers hint at farming

Two short clips released by Lego Fortnite on Twitter have hinted at a pair of much-requested features – farming and animal taming. The first clip focuses on a new line of dialogue from one of the game’s characters, Hayseed: “The local animals seem really interested in the village. I wonder if they want to live with us…”  followed by a shot of the player character, dressed as a farmer, leaping for joy. We then see the player petting a sheep, which happily follows them towards a farm. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? ???? pic.twitter.com/FxiRruKw1i — LEGO Fortnite (@LEGOFortnite) April 20, 2024 In the background, there are several new items and buildings on display, suggesting that the update will include new decor items and builds. An overhanging lamp and a silo were two notable inclusions in the video that players don’t currently have access to. The second clip, shared a few hours later, shows the construction of what appears to be a barn, along with what looks to be assigning food to a container (presumably …

Fortnite leak – has Epic’s Battle Royale’s roadmap for 2024 been uncovered?

Fortnite leak – has Epic’s Battle Royale’s roadmap for 2024 been uncovered?

It should be no surprise that with Fortnite being as big as it is it seems to be the most ‘leaked-about’ games currently doing the rounds. Barely a week goes by without data miners fishing around in the code to tell everybody what skins and events are coming next. The game, which has recently seen some players fall into V-Bucks debt continues to be one of the most popular games on the planet and leaks are now seen as par for the course. Today’s Fortnite roadmap leak seems a little more than that however as potentially the game’s roadmap for the rest of 2024 has surfaced on the internet and highlights a number of things coming to the Battle Royale that are new news to most. A post on Reddit shared an image that seems to be a screen grab from a screen showing a graphical calendar of what is upcoming. It seems like a lot of effort to go to if it is made up, and obviously, there is no saying a) it is …

Star Wars is coming back to Fortnite in time for May the Fourth

Star Wars is coming back to Fortnite in time for May the Fourth

Fortnite apparently has more festivities planned for May 4, which as every Star Wars fan knows is the holiest day on the liturgical calendar for galaxies far, far away. Leaks, teases, and datamining already are hinting at what fans of both the space opera and Epic Games’ battle royale may expect that weekend. Among the content rumored to join the game beginning May 3 (a Friday). Chewbacca as a long overdue playable skin. “Rebel Leia,” meaning the Princess after her flowing robes appearance in A New Hope, but before her tenure as a commanding general. A wookiee bowcaster weapon. Also long overdue! Old heads who grew up playing Dark Forces will no doubt smile. This thing should pack a mean punch. Cantina Band jam track. But of course! Fortnite and Star Wars have had a long-running collaborative relationship, with crossovers bringing heroes and villains like Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, The Mandalorian, Darth Maul, Ahsoka Tano, R2-D2 and even Baby Yoda into the game. Fortnite’s first crossover with Star Wars came at the end of 2019 …
