RIZON could soon be the #1 truck in the #2 business

RIZON could soon be the #1 truck in the #2 business

Portable bathroom company Diamond Environmental showcased its new, all-electric RIZON medium duty commercial truck at a San Marcos, California mobility event last month – and the verdict is in: these electric trucks don’t stink! City officials from San Marcos attended the electric vehicle and sustainability-focused event, including San Marcos Mayor Rebecca Jones, San Diego Land Policy Advisor Hunter McDonald, and councilman Ed Musgrove. The stars of the show, however, were Diamond Environmental’s four RIZON e18L medium-duty commercial EVs. “RIZON trucks are perfect for our daily local operations and align with our environmental and sustainability goals,” explained Alex Fortunati, CEO of Diamond Environmental. “Thanks to San Diego County’s incentive programs, we could economically make the transition to electromobility.” Diamond Environmental equipped their RIZON electric trucks with stake bed/flatbed style bodies for two of the trucks, enabling a wide range of versatility for transporting portable toilet facilities, sinks, and other sanitation supplies to construction job sites and outdoor events like the Super Bowl in San Diego and the Coachella Music Festival. For their part, the RIZON seems genuinely …

MAN Trucks delivers first production eTGX electric semi

MAN Trucks delivers first production eTGX electric semi

MAN Truck & Bus reached another milestone on its path towards decarbonization by delivering its first regular production Ultra Low Liner eTGX electric semi truck to international logistics service provider Duvenbeck – who plan to add over 100 more such trucks to its fleet in total. (!) Duvenbeck signed a letter of intent (LOI) to purchase 120 of the new Volkswagen Group MAN electric semi trucks back in 2023, and now the first examples of the 40-ton e-trucks have arrived at Duvenbeck’s HQ. The delivery marks the latest big step towards that company’s planned electrification. “The MAN eTruck is an important step towards emission-free logistics,” says Bernd Reining, Senior Director Procurement, Duvenbeck. “It helps us to meet our customers’ requirements and protect the environment at the same time. Sustainability is part of our everyday practice.” The requirements Duvenbeck is referring to include the MAN trucks’ 3 meter interior height – a first for a battery-electric semi truck in this category. “With the Ultra Low Liner eTruck, MAN has developed a solution that is perfectly tailored to the requirements …

Nikola bankruptcy, hydrogen problems, and Toyota everywhere

On today’s heavy-duty episode of Quick Charge, we take a look at Nikola Motors’ troubling finances, reliability problems with their hydrogen semi trucks, and an all-new, all-different electric Toyota cute-ute makes its debut. Will it be enough to take Toyota to the front? On any other day a new Toyota crossover – and an electric one at that – would be the big news of the day, but massive deals on a new Toyota bZ4X and $1 billion investment in a new paint shop need to be acknowledged, as well. All that, plus big-time recycling news! Source Links Prefer listening to your podcasts? Reyes Beverage Group buys 29 Freightliner electric semi trucks

Reyes Beverage Group buys 29 Freightliner electric semi trucks

Daimler Truck North America has helped alcohol distributor Reyes Beverage Group deploy fully 29 zero-emission Freightliner eCascadia Class 8 electric semi trucks in its California delivery fleet. Reyes Beverage Group (RGB) plans to deploy the first twenty Freightliner electric semi trucks at its Golden Brands – East Bay and Harbor Distributing – Huntington Beach warehouses, marking the first phase in the company’s transition to a fully zero emission truck fleet by 2039. An additional nine eCascadia Class 8 HDEVs are scheduled for delivery to RBG’s Gate City Beverage – San Bernardino warehouse before the end of 2024. RBG’s decision to adopt the Freightliner eCascadia builds on its recent transition to renewable diesel and its ongoing idle-time reduction program. These electric vehicles (EVs) “go electric” will contribute significantly toward the company’s stated goal of reducing its carbon emissions 60 percent by 2030. These 2 trucks will save some 98,000 gallons of diesel fuel annually, and avoid putting nearly 700 metric tons of carbon dioxide and other harmful emissions into California’s air each year. “We are excited …

Mack Electric LR is Wisconsin’s first electric garbage truck

Mack Electric LR is Wisconsin’s first electric garbage truck

In a bid to clean up its streets in more ways than one, the city of Madison, Wisconsin has added two Class 8 electric trucks to its garbage fleet earlier this year in the form of a pair of Mack Electric LR HDEVs … and the city already has plans to add two more. In 2017, the city of Madison became the 25th North American city to set a zero-net carbon goal for for city operations by 2030 and the city as-a-whole by 2050. To that end, the city has begun electrifying its heavy truck and equipment fleet with the deployment of two Mack Electric LR HDEVs – reportedly the first two Class 8 BEVs to deployed in America’s dairy land. “One of the reasons we’re going all-in on electrification is because it’s better for the environment,” explains Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway. “These refuse trucks hit every single block in the city of Madison. That is a lot of diesel fumes in our neighborhoods. If we can take even one diesel truck off of the streets … …

Nonprofit to buy 500 electric semi trucks by 2028 in 0M deal

Nonprofit to buy 500 electric semi trucks by 2028 in $250M deal

Maryland-based nonprofit Climate United announced its intention to spend $250 million to buy up to 500 electric semi trucks over three years in what the group is calling “the biggest single order of zero emission Class 8 trucks in the country.” First, we should state the obvious: as hard as it is to imagine a nonprofit with $250 million to spend on a fleet of 500 electric semi trucks – it’s even harder to imagine one that would need that many trucks. The plan, then, must be to do something else with the trucks. And so it is. Upon taking delivery of the zero emission trucks, Climate United intends to lease those vehicles back to trucking fleets at attractive rates, encouraging truckers that haul containers to and from California seaports to electrify somewhat sooner than later by reducing or eliminating the obstacle of BEV’s higher up-front costs compared to diesel. “High upfront costs make it difficult for independent owner-operators and small fleets to transition to all-electric,” explains Beth Bafford, CEO of Climate United. Climate United says …

Louisville launches America’s first 100% electric garbage truck fleet

Louisville launches America’s first 100% electric garbage truck fleet

In what the city is calling a national first, Louisville, Colorado officials held a “ribbon cutting” last Tuesday to celebrate the launch of a new, all-electric residential recycling and waste collection fleet, which is already the city’s streets. Operating under heavy loads, in stop-and-go conditions, at low speeds, and on a predictable route, electric vehicles are well-suited to waste collection applications – especially in cities, where the average day’s work happens in well under 100 miles of driving. What’s more, their quiet operation means that residents like young kids and light sleepers are far less likely to be woken up at 0-dark-thirty by a rogue operator with a Jake Brake fetish. “We are so proud that Louisville will be the first city in the nation with a fully electric collection fleet,” said Mayor Chris Leh. “These innovative EV collection trucks will fulfill our trash, compost and recycling needs, reduce noise pollution, and include larger windshields to increase each driver’s field of vision and lower greenhouse gas emissions, making our neighborhoods quieter, safer and healthier.” It’s hard to argue with benefits like those, …

Ford announces ,500 Fleet Discount on F150 Lightning Pro

Ford announces $7,500 Fleet Discount on F150 Lightning Pro

Ford commercial truck customers can score a sweet deal on a new Ford F-150 Lightning Pro, thanks to a new $7,500 Fleet Order Discount offer – but that’s just the beginning: there are even more Lightning incentives out there for fleet buyers! Before we get too deep into this new Ford Fleet Order Discount, it’s important to note that the $7,500 Fleet Order Discount is distinct from the Federal $7,500 tax credit. How do Federal tax credits work? That’s a great question! According to the IRS, “You may qualify for a credit up to $7,500 under Internal Revenue Code Section 30D if you buy a new, qualified plug-in EV or fuel cell electric vehicle (FCV). The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 changed, but extended the terms for this credit for vehicles purchased between 2023 to 2032.” Granted, that doesn’t do much to answer the question, but Scooter Doll put together a fantastic explainer in a post titled, “Here’s every electric vehicle that currently qualifies for the US federal tax credit in 2024,” and the short …
